Chapter 108
After spinning his web of lies, Nelson smirked smugly at the Stevens family. He thought them foolish for opposing him. His employees chimed in obediently, one claiming, โThatโs right, we all saw Ms. Stevens request a loan. When negotiations failed, she called for backup and resorted to violence.โ
โHave you no shame?โ Christina shouted, enraged.
Nelsonโs expression turned sinister. โThis, Ms. Stevens, is the price for defying me. Youโre not even in my league.โ
Irene retorted, โYou disgusting lowlife! Weโll prove the truth with the surveillance footage!โ
Nelson laughed dismissively. โDid you think I wouldnโt anticipate that, old hag? All our surveillance cameras are conveniently malfunctioning today.โ
Christina clenched her fists, her fury barely contained. Nelson had clearly planned this, meticulously covering his tracks. The bank employees stared at the Stevens family with contempt.
One female employee, in a revealing outfit, mocked, โOther clients know how to get what they want from Mr. OโConnor, practically throwing themselves at him. Ms. Stevens, drop the innocent act. Who do you think youโre fooling?โ
Another chimed in mockingly, โThese days, you have to offer something in return. Ms. Stevens, arenโt you supposed to be a CEO? Youโre not playing the game right.โ
โExactly! This deal could have been simple, but you complicated it. No wonder your company canโt get a single cent!โ
Their mockery stung, but the Stevens family dared not retaliate. Nelson reveled in his power. In Jayrodale Bank, he was king. He was already bored with his employees; Christina was far more alluring.
โMy offer still stands, Ms. Stevens,โ Nelson said smoothly. โAgree to my terms, and Iโll overlook todayโs incident. However, your โlittle boy toyโ will pay for breaking my hand.โ
Christina responded with disgust, โSave it. Iโve already contacted Harvey, and heโll be here soon.โ
Ireneโs eyes lit up. โThatโs right! Harvey just helped cure Mr. Thatcher. Surely the mayor will show us some consideration.โ
Leroy grinned. โExactly. Harveyโs practically Mr. Thatcherโs golden boy now. This sleazy guy will regret crossing us.โ
The Stevens familyโs confidence grew with the anticipation of Harveyโs arrival. Andrew, however, raised an eyebrow, confused. After all, he had cured Mark. Nonetheless, he pushed the thought aside, focusing on more pressing matters.
โEven Mr. Thatcher canโt save a lowlife like you,โ Andrew said calmly to Nelson.
โStill talking big when youโre about to go down?โ Nelson scoffed.
The Stevens family panicked at Andrewโs boldness.
Irene snapped, โAndrew, you only bring trouble. Keep quiet!โ
โWatch it,โ Leroy growled. โNo oneโs saving you if you anger the mayor.โ
Just then, police sirens wailed outside as Mark arrived with officers. Nelson rushed to greet him with a servile smile. โMr. Thatcher, youโre finally here!โ
