Chapter 104

Lauren pouted, glaring at Andrew. "Dr. Lloyd," she whispered shyly, "we haven't even established a relationship yet, so touching is inappropriate." Pausing, she added, "However, if you really want to, we couldโ€ฆ maybe share a kiss?"

Andrew was flustered. He hadn't expected such boldness, especially coupled with her soft, bashful expression. He'd always considered Lauren confident and outspoken; her delicate demeanor and shy gaze completely stunned him. She looked like a gentle, elegant beauty from a painting. For a moment, his heart skipped a beat.

Just as the tension thickened, Andrew's phone rang, abruptly ending the moment. Lauren covered her mouth, giggling softly. "Go ahead and take your call, Dr. Lloyd. I'm in no hurry!"

Christina's cold voice filled Andrew's ear. "Mr. Lloyd, do you remember our discussion? Please come to Jayrodale Bank. We need both signatures for the loan."

"I'll be right there," Andrew replied.

Christina had already hung up, seemingly reluctant to speak further.

"Was that Ms. Stevens?" Lauren pouted. Andrew nodded. "You two broke up, and she's supposedly engaged to Harvey. The news is all over town. Why is she still contacting you?"

"It's not what you think," Andrew sighed. "This is strictly business."

"I don't buy it! Are you two trying to rekindle things?" Lauren looked at him with pleading eyes.

Andrew chuckled bitterly. "Rekindling? Is that even possible, Ms. Rhodes? She's with Harvey now. I can't compare to him."

Lauren huffed, unimpressed. "Harvey? He's decent at first glance, but anyone who's met you both would see the difference immediately. He's not even worthy of being your assistant."

Andrew shook his head. "You think too highly of me, Ms. Rhodes. In Christina's eyes, I'm the one unworthy of being in the same room as Harvey."

Lauren sneered. "That's because she's blind. Anyway, I won't hold you up. But remember, I'll be waiting for the day you make me your wife."

Chapter 104

Andrew made a hasty retreat; Lauren's teasing was impossible to defend against.

Meanwhile, at Jayrodale Bank, Christina entered, wearing a black lace dress.

"Well, well, if it isn't the lovely Ms. Stevens! What an honor!" The bank manager, Nelson O'Connor, greeted her, his gaze lingering inappropriately on her figure.

Christina ignored him. "Mr. O'Connor, I trust you know why I'm here. Let's get down to business."

The portly Nelson leaned back, propping his legs on the desk. "Straight to the point? Fine. The 30 million loan for your South City project has been approved."

Christina's heart leaped; this was easier than expected.

Nelson's smile turned sleazy. "However, Ms. Stevens needs to show someโ€ฆ appreciation for this deal to go through."

"Appreciation?" Christina frowned, alarmed by his vulgar tone.

"That's right. A small token, and the 30 million will be transferred immediately, no questions asked." Nelson's grin widened.

Fighting back disgust, Christina replied, "Name your terms, Mr. O'Connor. As long as they're within Stevens Corporation's capabilities, we can negotiate."
