I slammed the door shut as I entered the room. “Ugh!” I growled, pacing. How could she think I… Fuck. I would never do that to her, not to any woman, not to Kaida or even the moon goddess herself.

I groaned, running a hand through my hair. I’m disappointed in Aurora. I ran my hand over my stinging cheek. She even slapped me… and then… I would never raise my hand to her. I was just trying to hold her and reason with her, and she thought I was going to hit her.

I love and trust Aurora so much… Why doesn’t she trust me? I sat on the floor. I’d suffered so much away from her, and even when I got her back, we suffered together. I can’t let this relationship break. It would kill me.

“Kaida,” I growled. This is all her fault, and I’m going to punish her. She’ll see the ruthless side of me I’ve always hidden. She’ll definitely lose her crazy obsession with me today. She made Aurora cry all night; her eyes were red and puffy. Her heart was broken. Her soul was hurt. Because of me… I should never have given Kaida water last night. I should have left her to die. She’s better off dead than hurting Aurora like this.

I held my head; it’s spinning. I wonder what Aurora’s going through. What if she decides to leave me again? What if she takes the kids? That would break me entirely.

“I have to fix this. I can’t let my family fall apart.”

I got up and strode out of the room, slamming the door. I ran down the stairs to the dungeon. There, I saw Kaida sitting in a corner, still naked, her head between her knees.

“I knew you’d come. I can smell you from a mile away,” she said, slowly raising her head.

I gritted my teeth, my fingers clenching into fists. “Open her cell!” I ordered. The guard hesitated, then moved to open it.

I stepped in as the guard pulled the bars open. Kaida stood and met me halfway. “You saw what I did to that guard; aren’t you scared?” she asked, circling me.

I scoffed. “I’m Dane, a Lycan, the alpha of this pack. Why would I fear you? Besides, I know what you want, and you won’t want me dead.”

I turned, grabbing her throat. She gasped, smiling as she touched my hand. “Such hairy, strong hands… I wonder how you’d feel down there.”

“Oh, get lost.” I pushed her away; she staggered back against the wall. She was trying to look sexy, but all I saw was a mad woman making a fool of herself. Her naked body doesn’t affect me… but Aurora’s bare back, even her toes and fingers, are enough to drive me mad.

“This is why I love you, Dane… your feistiness, hardness, stubbornness… pride, ego… it’s so appealing. And guess what?”

I crossed my arms. “What… you tramp,” I snapped. She giggled. “Your insults are like compliments; they make me wet for you. Wanna check?” She ran a hand up her thigh. “I bet I’m wet enough to take you in.”

I spat, disgusted, wiping my mouth. “No, thank you. I’ll pass.” I noticed a look of pain in her eyes, but it vanished as quickly as it came.

“Well, I caused the war. I instigated Orion, my pack’s alpha, against yours. I’m his head warrior; he trusted me blindly because I told him we could take your lands and goods… but he didn’t know I was doing it all to get to Dane Montague.”

I sucked in air, trying to stop myself from lunging at her. “I wanted a place in your heart… I’d settle for being your mistress… anything.”

I tilted my head, crossing my arms. “Isn’t that ironic? You wanted a place in my heart, but you got a place in my dungeon.” I tried to suppress my laughter at the look on her face.

“Well, at least I’m close to you; I can fantasize about you better,” she said, licking her lips and touching herself.

“Not for long,” I said. She raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”

I scoffed. “You’re being transferred to state prison today. You’ll be with your fellow prisoners.”

Kaida shook her head. “No…”

“Yes…” I said, stepping out. The guard looked at her cell; she clutched the bars, shaking her head. “You hurt my girl… that’s your punishment.”

“I want to stay here with you… I promise not to cause any more trouble, Dane… please.”

“Too late…” I walked out of the dungeon and headed to the council hall. I needed to see Aurora; I think she’ll be there this early.

“Ohh,” a woman sighed as I bumped into her around the corner. I stepped back to see she was pregnant. She clutched her stomach, wincing in pain.

“Sorry… so sorry,” I said, looking down. She raised her head, and I was shocked.
