Chapter 781: “I want to abort the fetus.”

Hannah ignored Sarah’s excuses, as did Oscar. Sarah’s anger flared, her face livid. “I didn’t do anything wrong! Hannah wronged me!”

“It’s too noisy!” Hannah retorted, her single word silencing Sarah’s protests.

Oscar approached Sarah, his annoyance evident. Sarah, intimidated by his expression, fell silent.

“I’ll have someone see you off,” Oscar said coldly.

“I won’t go!” Sarah declared. “Why should I leave? I’ve done nothing wrong. Why should I leave Kensbury City? Oscar, I will never leave. Furthermore, I will take the post of general manager at the original Cooper Group and help you manage the company.”

The Collins family knew Oscar was consolidating power. They outwardly supported him, but secretly, they wouldn't tolerate a leader they couldn't control. Therefore, Rowan Collins readily agreed with Sarah’s plan to interfere in Oscar’s affairs in Kensbury City. Sarah’s motives were complex. She aimed to supplant Hannah at the Cooper Group, where Hannah had consistently faced hardship. Simultaneously, she sought to strengthen her relationship with Oscar. In the capital, her ambitions had been hampered, but here, she felt empowered. She wouldn't relinquish her goals so easily.

“I don’t want to repeat this,” Oscar said icily.

Sarah, slightly fearful, suppressed her anger. Through clenched teeth, she muttered, “I’ll leave,” then slammed the door behind her.

Hannah watched her go, then turned to Oscar. As he approached, she said rigidly, “Why are you still here?”

Oscar was momentarily speechless.

“Go away,” Hannah continued, her dislike undisguised.

Oscar remained seated beside the sickbed. “You don’t need to dismiss me like this,” he said.

Hannah knew Oscar understood. He knew Sarah hadn’t harmed her; she’d simply wanted to drive them apart.

“Oscar, I want to abort the fetus.”

Oscar paled, stunned into silence.

“I said, I want to abort the fetus,” Hannah repeated, slowly and firmly.

Oscar had assumed her anger was a ploy to drive them away. He struggled to accept her sincerity.

“I don’t want this baby. Since no one wants it, it’s better not to have it,” Hannah said quietly, her resolve unwavering.

“But I want this child,” Oscar said, his temper controlled. “I will ensure you carry this pregnancy to term.”

“Oscar, I’m not making threats,” Hannah said, “We’re barely functioning as a couple. Do you think the baby would be happy?”

“I will make her happy.”

“How? As a child born out of wedlock, subject to ridicule?”

“I will be a devoted father and spend a lot of time with her.”

“And how will you explain your other lover and child?”

“She will understand.”

“No, she won’t. I can’t accept it, so why would she?” Hannah laughed coldly.

Oscar remained silent.

“Fine,” Hannah said, “This is between us. I’m telling you my decision because I think you deserve to know. We’ve both considered this extensively. But understand, I’m not asking for your opinion.”

Hannah made it clear that his agreement was irrelevant.

“No, I will not allow you to abort this baby,” Oscar declared.

Hannah’s eyes flickered with disgust.

“I will not allow you to abort her,” Oscar repeated. “Regardless of your decision, I will prevent it. Don’t question my resolve.”

“Respecting you has only brought me shame,” Hannah sneered.

Oscar’s lips tightened. He understood her contempt. The ward was heavy with tension. He hadn’t noticed Max at the door until Max, sensing the discord, hesitated before entering. Oscar simply said, “Take the food in here.”

“Yes, Master.”

Max brought the gruel. Oscar spooned some, blew on it, and offered it to Hannah. She stared at him before saying, “Do you think I’ll eat?”

“Please, take a bite,” Oscar said gently.

“Get out,” Hannah said, turning away.

Oscar remained silent for a moment, then placed the bowl on the cupboard. “I’ll go. You eat.”

“Oscar, can’t we part amicably?” Hannah asked suddenly.

“No,” Oscar said flatly.

“Doesn’t Sarah carry your child?” Hannah sneered.

Oscar clenched his fist. “That’s hers. This is different.”

“How interesting!” Hannah laughed coldly. “Do you consider yourself a king, with multiple women bearing and raising your children?”

Oscar felt embarrassed, as did Max, but neither could refute her statement.
