Chapter 426: Family Dinner

As Hannah walked toward the portal, she saw Oscar. This time, he wasn't preparing anything fancy; he simply stood beside his car. His striking appearance drew admiring glances. Hannah, like others, found him undeniably handsome. She supposed she could gaze at his face endlessly without tiring. Every time she looked at him, her heart raced.

"Honey," Oscar said, pausing as she approached.

His sweet public address made Hannah blush. She walked over, cheeks flushed, as Oscar took her hand, intertwining their fingers before opening the car door for her. They drove off.

Mary, witnessing this, seethed with jealousy and sulked away.

Inside the car, Hannah gazed out the window, asking, "Aren't we going home?"

"We're going to Wells Manor," Oscar replied.

Hannah frowned.

"It's been a long time since I've seen my parents. They miss me and insisted I bring you for dinner. They're eager to meet you," Oscar explained.

Hannah disliked Wells Manor, not because of Oscar's parents, but because of his sister, Karen. She hated being around the annoying girl.

"Don't worry. I've told Karen," Oscar said.

Surprised, Hannah stared at him, wide-eyed, wondering if he could read her mind.

"When you try to understand someone, you become better at reading their thoughts," Oscar smiled complacently.

Despite her reservations, Hannah went with him. His family welcomed her warmly, making her feel slightly awkward. She felt guilty for not having visited them since Oscar's return from River Town.

"Time for dinner," Venus called.

They gathered around a lavish table laden with various dishes. Venus kept filling Hannah's plate. Touched, Hannah remembered her difficult past with the Sawyer family.

"Thank you, Venus. But I can do it myself," Hannah said, returning the favor by filling Venus's plate.

They got along well.

"Hey, you're making me jealous," Nancy joked.

"Come on, I haven't seen Hannah in ages. I want to treat her well, but I always treat you the best," Venus replied.

Nancy pouted. "You're biased."

"Nancy, try this," Hannah offered, refilling Nancy's plate.

"Thank you, Hannah," Nancy smiled.

"Oh, Nancy, it's been years since you married David. When are you planning to have a baby?" Venus suddenly asked.

Nancy fell silent.

"Mom, we'll have a baby next year. Besides, Nancy and I are still young," David quickly answered.

"But I'm not young enough to wait," Venus grumbled.

"Come on, Mom, you're still young," Nancy said.

"Whatever. Both you and Hannah need to have a baby this year, or I'll be mad," Venus declared, nudging Robert.

Robert echoed, "You're right! We're looking forward to a grandchild or two."

"Well, I'll do my best," Oscar said.

Hannah felt awkward.

"Really?" Venus exclaimed, thrilled.

"I'm working on it. I'll let you know if there's any good news," Oscar assured her.

"Great! David, you should learn from your brother," Venus beamed.

"Okay, okay, I'll start planning a baby with Nancy," David agreed.

The happy dinner continued. Hannah felt content, even yearning for more children, and strangely envious of Oscar's happy childhood.

After dinner, Oscar announced they needed to leave, claiming they would begin their "baby planning" immediately. Venus happily agreed.

In the car, Hannah sighed. "You have a lovely family. Unlike mine; most wealthy families are filled with conspiracies and inheritance struggles. My father and his brother are a prime example. That's why my parents didn't want more children."

Oscar didn't respond, instead hugging her tightly and whispering, "But we can have more babies."

Hannah nodded, agreeing that a larger family would be wonderful. She wanted to remain nestled in his arms forever. After all, Oscar was leaving the day after tomorrow, and she cherished every moment.

Suddenly, Oscar's phone rang. He hesitated to answer.

"Why don't you answer it?" Hannah asked.

"It's Theodore," he said, clearly preferring their romantic moment.

Hannah smiled. "Just answer it. Theodore's been loyal to you. At least reply with courtesy."

Oscar answered and put the call on speakerphone, keeping his arms around Hannah.

"Oscar, come drink with me!" Theodore shouted.

"Aren't you afraid of your dad?" Oscar asked.

"No! I'm dying! Why do I have to get married tomorrow? Screw it! Whatever happens, I need to get drunk tonight! One last toast to being single! Then I'll face my father!"

Oscar was speechless.

"You know the place! See you later!" Theodore hung up.

Hannah and Oscar stared at each other. After a moment of silence, they both said simultaneously, "Leave him be," and, "Just go drink with him."

They smiled.

"It's his last night as a single man. Go drink with him. I'll come too. Besides, I'm curious about the place," Hannah suggested.

"But you've been there, haven't you?" Oscar smiled.

Hannah frowned, confused.

"Don't you remember the day you came to me and threw yourself into my arms?" Oscar reminded her.

Hannah remembered.

"Did I throw myself into your arms?" she countered playfully. It had been accidental.

"Don't be shy. I liked how you seduced me," Oscar whispered huskily.

"Seduce? Hell no!" Hannah thought.
