Listen to this chapter:

Hannah didn't agree, but Oscar had already placed her hands on his strong waist.

"I think you have impure thoughts right now," Oscar teased.

Hannah blushed. "I don't," she retorted.

Oscar didn't deny it. "Hide behind me while the oil gushes out," he said.

This man made Hannah feel warm and loved. It felt as if Oscar would always stand before her, protecting her from any danger without hesitation. This gave her a strong sense of security.

Involuntarily, Hannah drew closer, resting her head against his broad back. She smelled a familiar scent and felt his familiar warmth.

The scene felt like a movie: a man cooking for his sweetheart—beautiful and romantic. The word "forever" sprang to mind. She wanted this moment to last forever.

"Ready? I'm going to add the beef," Oscar reminded her.

Hannah's slender body was shielded by and tightly pressed against Oscar's back. The sizzling food, once horrible to Hannah, now sounded like a march of happiness.

Oscar finished cooking and said, "Put this on the table outside."

"Okay," she replied, extending her hands.

"Be careful not to burn yourself," Oscar cautioned.

Hannah nodded. Relieved, Oscar handed her the plate.

After setting the dish on the table, Hannah returned to Oscar's side, her face joyful, and accompanied him to finish the meal.

Three dishes and a soup—simple home cooking—were done. She had thought it wouldn't be too difficult, but she had overestimated her own cooking skills.

Oscar asked Hannah to sit at the table. "I'll go fill the rice," he said.

Hannah was stunned. Her reaction surprised Oscar.

"Don't tell me you forgot to cook the rice?" he asked.

Hannah remained silent.

She had indeed forgotten. All her attention had been on the other dishes. Oscar couldn't help laughing. He fondled her head. "Baby fairies don't have to eat rice," he said.

Hannah wrinkled her nose, thinking he was teasing her.

"It'll take too long to cook rice now. Should I just make noodles? Is that okay?" Oscar asked.

"Okay," Hannah nodded.

"Eat a little something first. Don't be hungry. I'll be right back after the noodles are done," Oscar said, returning to the kitchen.

But Hannah wanted to wait for him. She propped her chin in her hands and watched him. Even while cooking, she thought he was the most attractive and gentle man.

She got up, looked around the house, and then spotted a bouquet of roses in the hallway. She picked it up, smelled it, and put it back.

She then noticed a shopping bag on the floor, one Oscar had brought home earlier. Inside, she found a pair of pink slippers. Hannah looked down at her own large blue slippers.

Oscar had been barefoot. Even though it was summer, the air conditioning made the floor cold.

These small gestures from Oscar, Hannah thought, would drive any woman crazy. She had always believed a man like him, who owned everything, wouldn't be so thoughtful. The contrast surprised her; it felt like the best gift.

When she married Oscar, she hadn't realized how fond he was of her. He truly made her feel like a princess.

Hannah put on the new slippers, taking the old ones to Oscar.

Oscar saw what she had done. He looked at the slippers on her feet. "Do they fit? I grabbed them quickly at a random shop. But they feel soft," he said.

"Uh-huh," Hannah nodded. She crouched beside him and placed the slippers down.

Oscar put them on and smiled. "They still hold your warmth."

Hannah stood on tiptoe and kissed his lips.

"Thank you, Oscar," she said.

After a moment, Oscar stared at her lips, his desire evident. His Adam's apple bobbed.

"I didn't expect they'd move you so easily. If I'd known…" he paused.

"What would you have done?" she asked.

"I would have come home earlier and eaten you up!" Oscar laughed, his tone alluring.

Hannah pouted.

"Okay, done," Oscar said, caressing her head. "Go to the dining room and wait for me."

Hannah left the kitchen. Oscar soon followed with the food.

"Let's eat," Oscar said, smiling. "It's an original creation, with the noodles. Nobody else gets to eat this."

Hannah thought he was still laughing at her cooking skills.

The shredded beef was delicious—beyond her expectations.

"When did you learn to cook, Oscar?" Hannah asked, curious.

She had learned many things as a child, but not cooking. It had never occurred to her. Oscar's skill impressed her.

"There's someone who liked my cooking," Oscar replied.

"Who?" Hannah asked, a hint of jealousy in her voice. She wondered what kind of girl would have inspired Oscar to cook so much for her.

"Are you jealous?" Oscar asked, pointedly.

"No," Hannah replied smoothly, "but I think I should thank her. If not for her, I wouldn't be enjoying this wonderful meal."

"You'll meet her someday," Oscar said, without directly answering.

"I don't want to know," Hannah stated firmly. "I'm not interested in your ex-girlfriend."

Aware of Hannah's feelings, Oscar smiled, pleased by her jealousy.

"You'll realize how wonderful you are in the future," he said.

This man always knew how to use sweet words to please a girl, Hannah thought, his words making her forget her anger.
