Chapter 1084: A Moment of Love
Little Bunny looked at Addison in surprise. She hadn't expected such a sudden declaration. Their relationship didn't seem to warrant such a statement. Was it simply because Theodore had been caring for her, making her seem available to anyone?
Addison, sensing her thoughts, quickly explained, "Don't misunderstand. I don't mean to offend you. When I say 'take care of you,' I mean I want to be your boyfriend. After you retire from the industry, we can date secretly. Our company's rules prevent me from dating publicly right now, but don't worry, I'll fight for us. Once they approve our relationship, we can go public together."
"I'm serious, Little Bunny."
She'd never considered a serious relationship, nor had she liked anyone romantically. She viewed Addison as a kind, unassuming celebrity who treated everyone respectfullyโa genuine politeness unlike Caroline's affected demeanor. She liked him, but there were no romantic feelings. His confession was unexpected.
"Do you like me?" Little Bunny asked.
Addison smiled awkwardly. "I thought I had no feelings for youโฆuntil the day we kissedโฆ"
He blushed, making her blush as well. It should have been unremarkable, but his confession made it awkward. "It felt like suppressed emotions finally releasedโunforgettable. It made me realize I had feelings for you, suppressed by company regulations. But after that kiss, everything changed."
It had been a light kiss.
"And these past few days, honestly, I've been jealous seeing you with Theodore. Even wondering why I don't have his privileges. If I were in his place, I wouldn't let anyone mistreat you. Little Bunny, now that Theodore has released you, even though you'll lose your career, you shouldn't stay here. It's not peaceful; nothing keeps you here."
Little Bunny shook her head. She felt no aversion, but little joy either. She considered him a good friend at most, grateful for his lack of disgust.
"Addison, Theodore and I haven't ended things."
Addison's eyes widened in disbelief. "But the newsโฆ"
"The news is a process." Little Bunny didn't reveal everything. Not that she distrusted Addison, but he was better off knowing less. "I appreciate your kind intentions," she said, smiling slightly.
"Did I fail?"
"You're a good person. You'll meet someone better than me," Little Bunny replied.
Addison looked visibly upset but remained silent. "I have to go," she said, knowing prolonging this would only cause more pain.
"Little Bunny," he said.
She looked at him.
"Do you have feelings for Theodore?"
"No," she said honestly. "But I can't resist him."
"Theodore won't persist for long. I'll wait for you."
A sharp pain pierced Little Bunny's heart, a painful yet intense emotion akin to falling in love. She hadn't anticipated such a strong reaction. Her eyes welled, but she turned and left without another word. Though unfamiliar with love, she felt something akin to it.
The next day, after filming, Little Bunny left early. The director's talk of role changes meant fewer scenes for her; a replacement wouldn't take long. However, to avoid delays, they filmed some scenes with her just in case.
Backstage, she overheard familiar voices from the next room.
"Little Bunny has some nerve, showing up like nothing happened. Shouldn't she care about her reputation?"
"Did you hear she broke up with Theodore, so he released the news again?"
"Yeah," a woman whispered. "Theodore and Caroline left together. They seem to be datingโฆ"
"No wonder," another gloated. "Little Bunny deserves it for not holding onto her sugar daddy and letting Caroline take advantage."
"Little Bunny has low emotional intelligence. Caroline is completely different; of course, Theodore chose her."
"Caroline's at an overseas awards ceremony, walking the red carpet!" a woman exclaimed. "They'll ask about her feud with Little Bunny!"
They fell silent.
Little Bunny calmly opened a video of Caroline in a red gown on the red carpet, accompanied by a handsome international male superstar. The comments praised Caroline effusively. She signed autographs, posed for pictures, and gave interviews.
A reporter asked, "Miss Caroline, as a Northfield representative, what would you like to share?"
"It's an honor to attend this festival," Caroline replied graciously. "I'm proud of my country and everyone who worked on the film."
The reporter continued, "It's been reported you had conflicts with your best friend, Little Bunny. Is it true she repaid your kindness by exploiting your resources or even slapping you?"
