Chapter 58: Project Being Snatched

Jeremiah couldn’t seriously believe that avoiding me would prevent the divorce, could he? He had the Cornell family and Elsa backing him—both parties I could use to my advantage. If I wanted this divorce, I had plenty of ways to make it happen.

After leaving the courthouse, I headed straight home. But to my surprise, Jeremiah was pacing anxiously at my doorstep. I’d waited half a day at the courthouse, yet he was waiting for me here. How ridiculous.

I ignored him and was about to go inside when he grabbed my wrist. “It’s you, isn’t it? Jane, I thought we’d still have feelings for each other, even separated. But you’re heartless, trying to ruin my family!”

I frowned, pulling his hand away. “What’s your problem? Your family’s troubles are self-inflicted. What does that have to do with me? Besides, I haven’t settled the score for you skipping court today. What gives you the right to accuse me?”

His jaw clenched, his eyes burning with fury. “You’re still playing dumb! If you hadn’t complained to Eric, he wouldn’t have snatched Cornell Group’s key project!” “Do you have any idea what this has cost us? Cornell Group is on the brink of bankruptcy!”

I was stunned. I remembered him mentioning the key project—a collaboration with a foreign medical company, with billions in annual profits. This project kept Cornell Group afloat, but now, with Eric having stolen it, they were doomed. No wonder Jeremiah was losing his mind.

I smirked. “This has nothing to do with me. Your family’s bad choices made enemies. Besides, if your company goes bankrupt, I’ll celebrate. Should I arrange for someone to console you?”

Jeremiah’s face turned purple. I didn’t know if I’d pushed him too far, but he laughed maniacally, grabbing my arm again. This time, his grip was inescapable.

“Jeremiah, what are you doing? I’m warning you, this is my territory. If you try anything, don’t blame me!”

He didn’t care. He pulled me close, his face inches from mine. “Let’s be honest, you want me angry, so I’ll treat you like I did before, right? Well, I’ll give it to you!”

Suddenly, I was lifted onto his shoulder. “What the hell are you doing?” My heart sank, and I struggled. “Let go of me!” I reached for my phone, but he slapped it away before carrying me into the villa.

He threw me onto the couch, and his massive body was on top of me. I used to love his clean scent, but now, all I smelled was a disgusting odor.
