Chapter 188: He Was The One

The moment Jesse caught sight of that look, he felt as if a flame of rage ignited within his chest, rapidly spreading until it filled his entire being. He lifted the bouquet, on the brink of tossing it to the ground, ready to announce the wedding’s cancellation, when he spotted a familiar figure rushing in through the door.

She ran, all the while shedding tears. “Jesse, save me!”

Raquel’s wedding dress was covered in dirt, her makeup smeared from tears, and her hair was a complete mess. She didn’t resemble a bride at all, more like a beggar playing dress-up. Without thinking, Jesse ran over in worry.

“Raquel, what’s wrong? Who bullied you?”

Raquel threw herself into his arms, her tears falling like rain. “Someone hired people to capture me. I was confined in a sealed room, and it was only with great difficulty that I managed to escape!”

Jesse asked, “Who did that to you?”

As she sobbed, her gaze darted back and forth between Caleb and Joseph, as if she had already made up her mind. As anticipated, Raquel extended a finger, pointing directly at Caleb. “It’s him! He wanted to confine me!”

Jesse glanced at Caleb. “Raquel, are you sure? Did he really do that to you?”

“I’m certain! I overheard the kidnappers’ conversation. They mentioned their boss’s last name was Jenkins. Their boss had given them a specific task—to keep a close watch on me and ensure that I was not to be released until after the wedding!”

Raquel, still panting heavily, her face streaked with tears, was aflame with rage. “Jesse, he still has feelings for me. He doesn’t want me to marry you, and that’s why he set you up for embarrassment!”

The guests simply couldn’t comprehend what was happening. What on earth is going on?

Initially, it seemed as if the bride had run away from her wedding. Now, she’s claiming that Caleb had confined her. The Quixall family are really in a mess. However, this is a wedding venue. If the Quixall family couldn’t sort out their family affairs, couldn’t they have resolved them before hosting the wedding? With all the fuss and commotion, the guests are the ones who end up being the most troubled, no? Not only are we left starving, but we’ve also wasted our time!

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, Caleb calmly stood up. When he first saw Raquel covered in dirt, he was somewhat taken aback. Yet, the moment she began to speak, he understood. It’s the same old crap… Raquel is scheming against me once again.

However, what surprised him was that she was even willing to gamble her wedding, just to make him the target of public criticism. Is it even worth it? The wedding had turned into a complete mess. Perhaps this was the only wedding she’d have in her lifetime, yet she sacrificed such precious memories to frame him. It was truly baffling to understand what was going on in her mind.

Chelsea firmly grasped his wrist. “Let me help you sort this out. I know you didn’t do it.” Raquel’s character truly left her speechless.

If Caleb wanted to frame her, why would he willingly show up at the wedding, opening himself up to suspicion? Moreover, since he had gone so far as to arrange her kidnapping, why was he so careless that she managed to escape? Would he push himself into a corner just because he couldn’t stand to see her doing well?

Caleb shook his head, pulling his hand away. “No need to trouble yourself. I’ll confront her myself.” In the next instant, his entire demeanor abruptly shifted. “Ms. Levinson, you claimed that I did that, but what proof do you have?”
