Revenge Back 158

Listen to this chapter:

Caleb had been closely observing the two individuals, curious to see what they were really up to. Once most of the people had left, Caleb asked, “You two are together, aren’t you? You came specifically to find me. Are you here to seek revenge for Jesse?”

The girl uttered angrily, “You don’t need to know who we are! You had no right to act violently toward Jesse. You deserve to be condemned!”

The young man patted the girl’s back, saying, “Casey, don’t be upset. You’re already not in the best of health. It would be a tragedy if he upsets you to the point of no return.”

Casey Rose took a deep breath and said, “Rob, you’re right. It’s not worth getting upset over this aggressive guy.”

With a cool gaze, Caleb watched as these two played off each other. “All right. You’ve taken your revenge. You may leave now,” Caleb said. Nothing good ever happens when Jesse is around. I was unconscious for such a long time, yet this kind of situation had never occurred before. How come the moment Jesse shows up, I’m instantly getting bullied online?

Caleb was increasingly irritated, ready to lie down for a nap, but those two just wouldn’t leave, even murmuring amongst themselves. Caleb was quite puzzled. “You’ve already humiliated me in front of others. Isn’t that what you wanted? Why haven’t you left yet? What more do you want to do?”

Suddenly, Casey sported a peculiar smile and said, “You’ll find out soon enough.” She slowly approached Caleb, her aura incredibly out of the ordinary. Caleb had an inexplicable sense of unease welling up within him. Just in case, he cast a wary glance toward the fruit knife on the table, ready to guard against any sudden attack from her.

Just as the girl was about to reach the bedside, a stern shout suddenly echoed from outside the door. “Who are you people? Who let you in?”

Before the two could respond, Chelsea turned her head and called out, “Where are the security guards? Quick! Escort these two out, or you can forget about keeping your job!”

Upon realizing how formidable Chelsea was, the two individuals exchanged a glance before reluctantly retreating.

Finally, Caleb felt at ease. “Ms. Yardley, I owe you one more favor.”

Chelsea uttered in an annoyed tone, “You should have called me if you needed something. Oh, right… You don’t have my contact information yet.” She snatched Caleb’s phone and keyed in her own contact details. “Whether you call me or send me a message, it doesn’t matter. The point is that you shouldn’t feel aggrieved in my family’s hospital, understand?”

Caleb was silent for a long while before he suddenly asked, “Ms. Yardley, do you think I’m a pushover?”

It was truly terrifying for someone to lack power and influence. For example, he had to resort to force to resolve something Chelsea could resolve with just a few words. He had nothing to begin with, and his supposed family members stood against him, opposing him at every turn. It was as if they wouldn’t rest until he was… more.

Chelsea shook her head. “I’ve never felt that way before. It’s clear they’re framing you.”

Caleb was taken aback. She had only met him a few times, yet she found herself trusting him so readily. Caleb was genuinely worried. Given her personality, he wondered if she might fall prey to deceitful individuals in the future.

“Caleb, let me help you switch rooms. The security of this room isn’t sufficient. I’ll move you to a private ward. That way, no one will be able to harm you again,” Chelsea continued.

Initially, Caleb instinctively wanted to refuse, but something crossed his mind, and he agreed. “All right. Thank you, then.”

Chelsea gave a slight smile. “No worries.” After all, that was also a way for her to atone for her sins.

That day, the content online had been updated again. A Twitter user named Whisper uploaded a tweet on the social media platform that read: I’ve seen the aggressive man, and he was extremely vicious. He even threatened to kill me and my boyfriend.
