Chapter 153: Ruthless and Merciless
The sound of the door closing echoed like a trumpet blast signaling the start of a battle. Before Caleb could even make a move, the trio swiftly swooped in, surrounding him tightly from three different directions. Since the fight had only just begun, these three individuals hadn't had the chance to grab their weapons. They were all advancing forward, attacking with their bare hands. Caleb was also unarmed.
The confined space triggered his discomfort, and a wave of dizziness washed over him, nearly causing him to lose his balance. The trio seized the opportunity. Their fists swung with such ferocity that it was as if they were creating a tempest. They didn’t hold back in the slightest when they struck.
A fist was launched toward his face, and Caleb instinctively reached out to catch it before giving it a firm squeeze. The individual let out a sharp cry in an instant, compelled to abandon his assault. The other two, however, disregarded everything else and continued their assault on Caleb.
Under their assault, Caleb suffered varying degrees of injuries to his waist and shoulders. Yet, he refused to let go of the hand he was grasping. He knew that if he gave up, the damage he would sustain would be far more severe. That stalemate lasted for nearly seven seconds. After those seven seconds, Caleb finally made a move.
He swung his leg forward, aiming a kick at the stomach of the person before him. After sending that person flying, he swiftly swept another kick, targeting the knee of the man to his right. The individual hadn’t anticipated Caleb’s move and found himself uncontrollably kneeling on the ground.
Seizing the opportunity, Caleb clasped his hands around the last man’s neck. As the man struggled for breath, Caleb delivered a swift knee strike, instantly toppling him to the ground. Caleb had him pinned down; his grip around the neck was suffocatingly tight. The person’s face quickly turned red due to lack of oxygen, his eyes bulging out alarmingly. He was on the brink of passing out.
Just then, Caleb, who was on top of him, suddenly let out a muffled grunt, collapsing straight down onto him. Drops of blood seeped out, gradually staining his hospital gown a deep crimson. Only then did the person below manage to catch a breath, pushing Caleb away and retreating to the corner to gasp for air.
Clutching his wound, Caleb was just about to stand and engage in a fight with the other two when he was struck by a blade in his back. Unfortunately, the sequelae of the car accident chose that moment to manifest. His vision darkened, and he…
The continuous wave of pain coursing through his body brought him back to his senses. At that critical moment, his survival instinct kicked in abruptly. He seized the blade in a death grip, then charged toward the wall, taking the burly man wielding the knife with him.
Caught off guard, the burly man’s head smacked against the wall, creating a loud, dull thud. Opportunities had to be taken, so Caleb, seizing the knife, stabbed him dozens of times. After receiving those stabs, the person was in such pain that he curled up, unable to stand anymore.
At that moment, there was only one person left to defeat. Clutching the hilt of the blade, Caleb, donned in a hospital gown stained with blood, steadily advanced toward the burly man. Throughout his life, the burly man had committed his fair share of misdeeds. However, Caleb’s earlier ruthless and merciless demeanor genuinely frightened him, leaving him momentarily filled with fear.
In a swift rush, Caleb aimed a stab at his stomach. “Drop dead!” Blood gushed out, and Caleb’s face was splattered with the flying droplets. He looked like an unflinching god of death.
Just then, the basement door was abruptly thrown open, and Chelsea’s delicate face came into his view. He couldn’t bear it any longer, letting himself be consumed by the increasingly intense wave of dizziness, and thus, plunged into darkness. Before he passed out, he thought he heard the hurried rush of footsteps. Immediately after, a heart-wrenching scream reached his ears. “Caleb!”
