Chapter 130: She Got Off Too Easy
Smack! The first sound echoed through the entire hospital room.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have mocked you in front of others, or forced you to do things you didn’t want,” Raquel said.
For the second time, the slapping sound was so piercing it caused a stinging pain on the faces of those who heard it.
“I shouldn’t have forced you to humiliate yourself in front of others, to ruin your own reputation,” she continued.
Just as the third slap was about to land, Gianna suddenly said, “Hold on!”
With a surge of joy, Raquel asked, “Gia, have you forgiven me?”
A chill emanated from Gianna’s eyes. “Forgive you? You wish! You hurt me so deeply, yet you dare to ask for my forgiveness?”
The light in Raquel’s eyes dimmed. “Gia, what is it then…”
Gianna lifted her chin defiantly, speaking with an air of arrogance. “What I’m trying to say is, don’t just apologize to me. You not only refused to give Caleb a blood transfusion, but you also insulted him. You should bow and apologize to him too!”
Raquel was taken aback, anger surging within her. It’s one thing to apologize to Gianna, but she wants me to lower myself to the likes of Caleb, who’s practically a corpse now?
Suppressing her anger, she eked out a smile. “Gia, is that really appropriate? Even if I apologized to him, he wouldn’t hear or see it. What would be the point of doing that?”
Gianna said lightly, “Are you disobeying me now?”
The moment Raquel thought about the harsh words Phillip had said to her, it felt as if she had been doused with a bucket of cold water, snapping her back to reality.
“Of course, of course, I would never disobey you.”
The sound of a slap echoed again.
“Caleb, I shouldn’t have abandoned you in your time of need, nor should I have insulted you.”
Another slap followed.
“It’s my fault. Please wake up quickly and forgive the foolish things I’ve done.”
She leaned closer to Raquel, extending her unscathed right hand.
Raquel frantically said, “No need, I can do it myself.”
The following slaps were noticeably louder. Only then did Gianna return to her seat, feeling satisfied.
Someone as wicked as Raquel would never learn to watch her words and actions unless she is made to suffer the consequences. If Caleb hadn’t lost his status, she wouldn’t have dared to humiliate him like that.
Smack! Smack! Smack…
After nearly a hundred slaps, even Gianna was starting to feel tired.
Phillip observed the situation and suggested, “Gia, you should go to sleep first. I’ll take her away and stay with her until she’s done.”
Gianna gave a slight nod, then prepared to lay down on the hospital bed to sleep.
Norman stepped forward, about to say something, but was stopped by a look from Phillip.
“Let’s head outside first.”
The two of them dragged Raquel out, engaging in hushed conversation as they walked down the corridor.
Norman said, “Mr. Sherman, letting Raquel off so easily is far too lenient. No matter what, I must avenge Ms. Sherman.”
Phillip agreed, saying, “I was thinking the same thing.”
He was still consumed by deep regret. Originally, he thought his obedient daughter, who had never experienced hardship in her life, would surely be unable to withstand Raquel’s mockery; that was why he had allowed her to go.
Who would have known that Raquel not only verbally humiliated his daughter but also ruthlessly pierced the back of his daughter’s hand?
Every time he thought of the scar on Gianna’s hands, he would grit his teeth in rage. He was determined to make the wicked Raquel pay a thousandfold, ensuring she lived her entire life in regret.
