Chapter 598
Clark clutched his head, groaning in agony. The smallest mercenary, Monkey, the assigned investigator, asked, "Before and after the incident, where was your girlfriend?"
"I was with her everywhere," Clark replied, reciting from memory. "School, the tea shop, the bookstore, and the entire street where we shopped twice." He added, remembering something, "She also went to the hospital to register her grandmother for a leg check-up. She got medication and I went with her."
"Anything else?"
"No, just those places."
"Alright. I've noted everything. If I need anything further, I'll contact you. Can I have your contact information?" Monkey, notebook and pen in hand, maintained a serious expression. From the video, no one would suspect his true mercenary identity.
Clark hurriedly gave him his phone number. Having obtained the information, Monkey turned to leave, but Clark stopped him. Eyes red, the young man pleaded, "Sir, please, if you get any leads, notify me immediately. Please save her."
Before their meeting, Monkey had fabricated his identity as an investigator, promising to look into Jennifer's disappearance. Clark didn't believe him, but he had no other options. At least someone was willing to "deceive" him, offering a sliver of hope.
Monkey nodded and left. The video ended there.
After reviewing the materials, Felicia fell silent. Scarlet sighed. "Unrelated missing persons, all with clean backgrounds and ordinary routines. Where do we even begin? There's no pattern!"
"Who said they're unrelated?" Felicia countered, opening the first report and pointing. "Isn't this it?"
Scarlet leaned closer, still confused. "What do you mean?"
Felicia indicated the hospital location. "Don't you find it coincidental? They all went to the hospital during the same period."
These women, from diverse backgrounds and locations, all shared this common thread.
Scarlet remained puzzled. "What does that prove? Maybe it's just a coincidence?"
"There's no such thing as a coincidence this perfect," Felicia stated calmly. "Someone has left traces. Someone has been targeting them, creating this apparent coincidence. Or perhaps someone has been selectively filtering them from the beginning; that's just a hypothesis, though, not conclusive."
Felicia immediately called Monkey, instructing him to investigate what tests or check-ups all the missing women, including Jennifer, had undergone at the hospital before their disappearances and what information they might have left behind.
Monkey, quick-witted and sharp, immediately grasped her meaning. "Right! Why didn't I think of that? You're the best! From a single detail, you found a crucial lead. Impressive! Don't worry, I'll get on it right now!"
