Chapter 99: A Sight Too Horrific To Bear

“Where are you going?” At that moment, a thug suddenly glared at her with a menacing look.

Upon hearing this, Madelyn immediately furrowed her brows, her guard instinctively raised. “Who are you?”

“You don’t need to know who we are,” one of the thugs said. “All you need to know is that you’re coming with us.”

“Going with you? Where do you plan on taking me? What’s your intention?” Upon hearing these words, Madelyn immediately took a step back in caution.

As it turned out, those thugs didn’t pay her any attention at all. They bluntly said, “This is a main road, we don’t have time to waste with you. Get moving!”

After speaking, he reached out to pull her.

Naturally, Madelyn had no desire to go with them. So, she took a step back and turned to run.

“Chase her!” A few thugs immediately shouted.

However, as a girl, how could she possibly outrun several men?

In less than two seconds, those thugs had caught up.

One of them even went as far as to grab Madelyn by the collar. Seething with anger, he demanded, “Where do you think you’re going? Come with me!”

As he spoke, he abruptly grabbed her by the collar of her clothes, forcibly pulling her away.

“Let me go!” Madelyn struggled fiercely, but she simply didn’t have enough strength to resist.

In no time, the thugs had cornered her in a dimly lit alley.

“What on earth are you?” Madelyn exclaimed in frustration.

However, the thugs ignored her. All they did was demand angrily, “Hand over your phone!”

“Hurry up,” a thug urged from the side.

Upon hearing these words, Madelyn’s heart sank.

These thugs didn’t seem to have any malicious intent. It appeared that they were solely after the mobile phone.

Then, Madelyn made a quick connection in her mind and suddenly widened her eyes.

She realized that the thugs must be sent by Ruth!

At the thought of it, a wave of regret washed over her instantly. Oh no. How can I be so careless?

Madelyn was taken aback. How could she possibly hand over her phone to them?

So, she gritted her teeth and asked, “What if I don’t hand over my phone?”

After he finished speaking, he reached out to touch her pocket, intending to forcibly snatch her phone.

“Get away from me!”

Madelyn’s heart pounded anxiously. She immediately seized his hand and twisted it harshly in the opposite direction.

The man let out a cry of pain. Following that, Madelyn showed no mercy, fiercely kicking his genitals.

The thugs nearby were taken aback. They hadn’t expected her to fight back, and this instantly ignited their anger.

“Stupid girl, you really don’t know what’s good for you!”

After speaking, a thug took the lead and slapped Madelyn across the face.

Despite that, Madelyn remained unfazed. She calmly raised her hand and caught the incoming hand. Then, with a swift move, she delivered a kick toward the assailant’s genitals.

The second person started to howl loudly.

Unexpectedly, Madelyn had some moves, which completely enraged the thugs. One of them roared, “Guys, let’s get her together! I don’t believe a woman can be that capable!”

With that, they all rushed forward together.

Even if Madelyn was smart, she didn’t possess remarkable abilities. In such a confined space, she couldn’t possibly handle several people at once.

However, just when Madelyn thought she was about to meet her doom, a slender shadow suddenly swooped in.

The shadow moved extremely fast. Upon entering, it delivered a fierce kick, knocking down one of the thugs.

Then, the shadow swiftly grabbed the next thug’s hand, stepped on his foot, and executed a harsh over-the-shoulder throw…

The last one was taken down with a flying kick, sending him sprawling.

Instantly the scene was filled with anguished cries, making it a sight too miserable to witness.

All of this happened so swiftly that Madelyn didn’t have time to react.

By the time she gathered her senses, she suddenly realized that the man standing before her was none other than Maxton!

“Coach Wendel?” Madelyn looked at him with a puzzled expression.

At that moment, Maxton stepped forward, a subtle hint of concern crossing his typically indifferent face.

“Are you all right?”

Although his tone was icy, his concern was in no way diminished.

Madelyn chuckled, expressing her gratitude, “I’m fine, thank you.”

Upon reflection, she found it peculiar. How did Maxton know she was here, and how did he manage to come to her rescue so promptly?

Out of curiosity, she asked, “Coach Wendel, why are you here?”

Upon hearing that, Maxton slightly furrowed his brow in displeasure. “When we’re out, don’t call me ‘coach’.”

“Ah… I see, I’ll call you Maxton then,” Madelyn said, biting her lip awkwardly.

Maxton simply grunted in response.

Following that, he said indifferently, “I was just passing by and happened to see from a distance that you were caught, so I rushed over.”

To her surprise, everything was just a coincidence. Madelyn could only muster a smile and say, “I really owe you one.”

Maxton didn’t stand on ceremony either. In response to her gratitude, he simply responded with a faint hum.

Then, glancing at the thugs lying on the ground, he asked curiously, “Who are these people?”

Upon hearing that, Madelyn could only helplessly shrug her shoulders.

“How would I know? I don’t know them, but it’s best to hand them over to the police.”

Following that, the two of them promptly called the police.

In just a short while, the police arrived.

First, the thugs were handcuffed with cold metal cuffs.

Then, one by one, they were directly escorted into the police cars.

Having just learned a lesson, Madelyn was naturally very obedient. “Alright, you too. Take care on your journey.”

After that, the two of them nodded slightly and said their goodbyes.

Following that, Madelyn walked to the side of the road and hailed a taxi.

As he watched her car disappear into the distance, Maxton made his way to the side of the road and got back into his own vehicle.
