Chapter 448: The Treasure of a Handsome Man

Cheryl was quite optimistic. โ€œCaleb, donโ€™t speak such disheartening words. I believe that under your leadership, our company will surely continue to thrive.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s right, Caleb. I believe you can do it,โ€ Scarlet added.

Upon hearing this, Madelyn laughed in surprise. โ€œCheryl, did you hand over the company to your brother?โ€

โ€œIndeed,โ€ Cheryl nodded, chuckling. โ€œRunning a company is time-consuming. Iโ€™m still a student. Besides, Dad always had Caleb intern in operations. He has more experience than me, doesn't he, Caleb?โ€

After speaking, Cheryl looked at Caleb with a beaming smile.

Caleb smiled sheepishly. โ€œYour expectations are high, but rest assured, I wonโ€™t disappoint you.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s best if you think that way,โ€ Madelyn responded with a poised smile. โ€œRegaining control of your company wasn't easy. Manage it well, and I'm certain it will recover. I'll help when I can, but ultimately, it depends on you both.โ€

Madelyn raised a glass of wine. โ€œA final toast! I can't drink much; I need to go home.โ€

โ€œGoodness, you must be eager to see Mr. Lockhart,โ€ Cheryl teased.

The others also looked at Madelyn with teasing gazes.

Madelyn, a little embarrassed, smiled. โ€œWhatโ€™s the big deal? Itโ€™s normal to see my husband. If youโ€™re jealous, find someone yourselves!โ€

Everyone burst into laughter. They shared a toast, and the dinner concluded.

Leaving the hotel, Madelyn realized she had time. Sebastian was likely working late, so she took a cab to Lockhart Group.

He was, as expected, in a meeting. Bored, Madelyn waited on the couch for two hours.

When Sebastian returned, he found Madelyn lounging, her head tilted, seemingly chilled and curled up slightly.

He felt warmth in his heart. Gently, he draped his jacket over her.

As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Sebastian meticulously draping the jacket. The sight warmed her heart.

Suddenly, while Sebastian wasn't looking, Madelyn kissed his cheek.

Sebastian stiffened, then looked at her. โ€œYouโ€™re awake.โ€

โ€œYes,โ€ Madelyn replied, rising from the couch.

Sebastian nodded slightly. โ€œLetโ€™s go home, then.โ€

They went straight home. Ten minutes later, at Lockhart Villa, they had a meal, then went upstairs to freshen up.

Oddly, after her bath, Madelyn couldn't find Sebastian. Puzzled, she searched the house.

She wondered if he'd gone back to work. She found him in the study, in his pajamas, working intently at the computer.

Man, heโ€™s a workaholic! Madelyn thought in disbelief. Yet, she found herself staring intently at him.

He sat expressionless, his features delicate and profound, yet aloof. His freshly dried hair added to his refreshing appearance. From any angle, he was flawless. Tall and lanky, even seated, he was unbelievably attractive in his simple gray robe. The robe's open collar revealed his delicate collarbone.

Oh my goodness! Madelyn thought, utterly astounded. How can he be so handsome? Heโ€™s a treasure, and heโ€™s mine! Hahaha!

She inwardly burst into laughter, thinking fate had a strange obsession. In her past life, sheโ€™d been blind to such a perfect man; now, fate gave her a second chance.

โ€œWhy are you smiling?โ€ Sebastian asked, slightly furrowing his brows at her silly grin.

Is she performing a one-woman show? he wondered.

โ€œCough, coughโ€ฆ Itโ€™s nothing,โ€ Madelyn said, waving dismissively. Smiling radiantly, she approached him.

โ€œWhat time is it? Still working?โ€ Madelyn asked, seeing him working on his computer.

Sebastian hummed in agreement. โ€œToday has been rather busy.โ€

โ€œOkay, I wonโ€™t bother you,โ€ Madelyn said, lowering her head to leave.

Suddenly, her slender waist was firmly grasped. Sebastian pulled her close, holding her tightly. His hold was gentle yet slightly domineering. โ€œStay with me.โ€

Madelyn was taken aback. She glanced at his hand on her waist, smiling uncontrollably. She embraced him, choosing to stay.

Watching him work, Madelyn marveled at his meticulous and efficient method. He wasted no time, ensuring everything was done perfectly.

Damn it! Is he really human? Madelyn thought, impressed. That level of precisionโ€ฆ I'd make countless mistakes!

Half an hour later, Sebastian finished his work.
