Chapter 424: I Will Make You Have My Baby
โIf I had known things would come to this, I would never have allowed that wretched Janessa into our home. This isโฆโ
Scarlet beat her chest and stamped her feet, her heart filled with regret. However, regardless of her regret, Janessa had officially joined Sherrit Group because of a will, and there was no changing that.
In the afternoon, Madelyn went to Lockhart Group after finishing work at Thornton Corporation, having specifically ordered two takeout meals for lunch with Sebastian. He was in the midst of a meeting when she arrived.
Bored, she waited outside the conference room, peeking at him through the crack in the door. As she watched, she couldnโt help but secretly admire him. Oh my, isnโt my husband just too handsome?
Although she regularly saw his diligence at work, his focus inevitably wavered when she was present. Now that she wasn't there to distract him, she peered through the crack and watched him focus on the meeting. She simply couldnโt tear her eyes away. Not only did he have a distinguished air, but he also radiated a leadership aura. As he stood before the screen, making casual gestures, he exuded the aura of an elite. Coupled with his naturally deep voice, he resembled a great orator giving a lecture, possessing an indescribable charm. Every single employee listened with rapt attention, especially Harriet, who stared at him with near infatuation. Meanwhile, Wesleyโs eyes darted between Harriet and Sebastian, jealousy evident in his gaze.
โAll right. Thatโs it for todayโs meeting. Meeting adjourned.โ With that, Sebastian promptly packed up his laptop. The employees rose, pushed open the door, and filed out. Madelyn quickly stepped aside to let them pass.
When Sebastian still hadnโt emerged after some time, she was puzzled and poked her head into the room. Only then did she realize he was being accosted by Wesley and Harriet.
โSebastian, why donโt we grab lunch together?โ Harriet proposed, looking at him with hopeful eyes.
He unexpectedly heard Madelyn say, โNo, thanks. If heโs going, then count me out.โ
Wesleyโs eyes widened, dumbstruck and on the verge of tears. โWhatโs that supposed to mean? Counting her out if Iโm going? Does she look down on me that much?โ
In the end, he turned to Sebastian with a pleading look. โWhy donโt you come along?โ
At that moment, Madelyn pranced through the door like a fairy. No sooner had she entered than she said with a cheerful grin, โHarriet, you should go with Wesley. Look at him. Heโs tall and handsome, such a good young man. Heโs just the perfect match for you. As for my husband, naturally, heโs going to eat with me. Isnโt that right?โ She gazed lovingly at Sebastian.
Sebastian had been fretting over how to refuse them when she unexpectedly rescued him, a smile tugging at his lips.
โHarriet, isnโt there that company project recently? Why donโt you grab lunch with Wesley and discuss it thoroughly? I want to see the results of your discussion by this afternoon.โ
After saying that, he wrapped his arms around Madelyn, and they walked out, looking lovey-dovey. Frustration welled within Harriet as she watched them leave. This was the umpteenth time Madelyn had messed things up. How infuriating!
At that moment, Wesley turned to her and said timidly, โHarrietโฆ It seems weโll have to get lunch together and discuss the project.โ She swung around and glared at him coldly. Nonetheless, Sebastian had given his instructions, so she relented. โAll right. Letโs go.โ Then, she strode toward the door. Wesley was initially taken aback, but his face lit up with joy, and he hurried after her.
As for Madelyn and Sebastian, they were in the office, chatting and enjoying their meal. Suddenly, Madelyn set down her fork and asked, โSebastian, let me ask you a question. Will you support me no matter what I do?โ
โWhy are you asking that?โ He slightly furrowed his brow.
She chuckled. โNo reason. I was just asking.โ In truth, she was somewhat worried he would be upset with her for meddling in the Sherritt familyโs affairs.
Suddenly, he said, โDo what you want to do.โ
Seeing her dazed look, he found it endearing. He reached out and gently ruffled her hair, repeating, โDo what you want to do. And if anything goes wrong, Iโll take the blame.โ
A sudden surge of warmth rushed through Madelyn, and her eyes instantly reddened. I thought heโd probably have some opinions about me, even if he didnโt say it. I never expected heโd accept me unconditionally and even say heโd bear the blame for my actions.
For a moment, she was so touched she was at a loss for words, and could only ask, โWhat happens if I mess up and lose all your money?โ
โThatโs fine. I can always earn more,โ he responded calmly. He had never given that matter any thought because he was confident in his abilities.
โWhat if I offend someone I shouldnโt have?โ she continued.
โOthers should be the ones worrying about whether or not they offend you.โ
โWhat if I cause trouble that leaves you with no way of maintaining your dignity?โ
โSuch as?โ
This time, Sebastian became a bit more serious. She glanced at him and smiled, suddenly biting her tongue in embarrassment.
โFor instance, if I were to talk to other men and stir up some scandalous rumorsโฆ Mmph!โ
Before she could finish speaking, his thin lips sealed hers, leaving her unable to continue. He kissed her again and again. Finally, he fixed her with a serious look. โAs long as Iโm here, you can be as capricious as you want. However, if you talk to other men, Iโฆโ
โWhat will you do?โ She gazed at him with a playful expression.
With a cold snort, he replied, โIโll make you have my baby, and then Iโll see how you can chat with other men while youโre pregnant. If you still donโt behave after having one child, Iโll make sure you have another one. And if thatโs not enough, weโll have another. After all, I can afford to raise them.โ
โWhat? Youโฆ Youโre too much!โ She was shocked.
โWhatโs the matter? You donโt believe me?โ he responded with a smirk. โIf so, then try me.โ
