While they were engrossed in conversation, Cyrus knocked. “Come in,” Madelyn called, and Cyrus entered. “What is it?” Madelyn asked, puzzled.

Cyrus reported, “Ms. Thornton, two individuals arrived, intending to visit you.”

“Oh?” Madelyn chuckled, interested. “Who are they?”

“They didn’t say, but I guess they’re from Jiminez Corporation,” Cyrus responded.

“Really? Let me take a look.” Madelyn rose, exited the office, and saw William and Kieran. “Heh, so it really is them, huh?”

“Why are they looking for you? Trouble?” Jillian asked, puzzled.

Madelyn chuckled lightly. “Probably not. Given their company’s state, I doubt they have the guts.”

“Then why?”

“If I’m not mistaken, they’re here to discuss this matter.”

“Are you planning to negotiate?”

Madelyn immediately rejected the idea. “No. Why would I see them when they’re barely holding up themselves? Am I supposed to listen to their pleas for mercy? Ha, I’m certainly not that saintly.”

“You’re right,” Jillian nodded thoughtfully.

“Should I turn them away, Ms. Thornton?” Cyrus inquired.

Madelyn nodded slightly. “Go ahead.”

Cyrus nodded and carried out the task. Meanwhile, Derek unexpectedly approached from behind. After roughly understanding the situation, he asked, “Maddie, is this really the right thing to do?”

When Madelyn saw her father, she smiled reassuringly. “Don’t worry, Dad. Everything will be fine.”

“That’s the problem. I can’t stop worrying,” Derek sighed. “The Jiminez family’s power has always been on par with ours. Even at their weakest, they’re still formidable.” Derek worried Madelyn had gone too far; desperate people take drastic measures.

Madelyn understood his worry and reassured him, “Dad, there’s no need for concern. I’ve got this under control. Even if we can’t take down the Jiminez family this time, dealing them a significant blow is worth it. This way, they won’t be so arrogant in the future.”

Upon hearing this, Derek understood she only intended to give them a hard time, not annihilate them. He nodded in relief. “All right. No matter what you do, I will always support you. But if you ever run into any problems, tell me immediately. Don’t try to shoulder everything on your own.”

Madelyn obediently nodded. Seeing the lesson was imparted, she decided to stop there.
