Chapter 415: Deliberately Targeted

โ€œMadelyn, are you all right?โ€ Jillian circled, casting a worried glance at Madelyn. She feared Madelyn might have hurt herself.

Madelyn nodded. โ€œIโ€™m fine.โ€ She looked at her father with deep concern. โ€œDad, are you okay?โ€

Derek had regained his composure. He nodded. โ€œIโ€™m fine. But we should really get home as soon as possible.โ€

Madelyn nodded, fully aware she had stirred up trouble. She knew staying longer would only invite unpleasantness. She helped Derek up, with Jillianโ€™s assistance, and they returned home together.

Half an hour later, at the Thornton residence, Jillian and Madelyn arrived. Sebastian soon joined them.

โ€œDad, please donโ€™t believe a word that man said today,โ€ Madelyn soothed. โ€œHe was obviously making things up. Just pretend nothing happened.โ€

Derek weakly shook his head. โ€œMaddie, you donโ€™t need to comfort me. Despite my age, Iโ€™m not senile. I can discern truth from lies. Thereโ€™s no smoke without fire. Regardless of whether Eunice was manipulated, she harbored ill intentions. This time, she was wrong. At my age, my wishes are few. I hope you take over the company soon. I also hope Eunice, while abroad, can improve herself, so she can assist you when she returns. I desire little moreโ€”only that you two sisters are safe, secure, happy, and fulfilled.โ€

Madelyn felt moved. โ€œDad, rest assured. I will take over the company so you can retire peacefully.โ€

Feeling comforted, Derek nodded. โ€œIโ€™m happy you think that.โ€

Jillian watched, feeling a pang of sorrow. Though Madelyn seemed to lead a glamorous life, wasnโ€™t she, in reality, a pitiful soul? Wasnโ€™t everyone struggling, giving their all?

Madelyn coaxed her father upstairs, then took Jillian to the dressing room to change. Afterward, they left together in Sebastianโ€™s car.

Chapter 415: Deliberately Targeted

โ€œHmph, of course I wonโ€™t just let it go!โ€ Madelyn huffed, her conviction unwavering. โ€œIt was supposed to be a pleasant gathering. I was minding my own business, but they stirred up trouble, even upsetting my father. How could I tolerate that? If I donโ€™t teach them a lesson, theyโ€™ll think the Thornton family is a pushover. They might bully us in the future. Itโ€™s one thing to bully me, but how dare they target my father? Heโ€™s not young, yet they deliberately targeted him! Theyโ€™re gravely mistaken if they think they can push me around. Just you wait; Iโ€™ll make them pay!โ€

Madelyn spoke with unwavering conviction. Jillian nodded, deciding silence was best. Sebastian, glancing at Madelyn through the rearview mirror, saw her indignation and anger. She was determined to retaliate. He decided to help.

The following day, Madelyn summoned Cyrus. โ€œCyrus, keep a close eye on Jiminez Corporation. If they land big deals, snatch them.โ€

โ€œThisโ€ฆโ€ Cyrus said, perplexed.

โ€œWhat, do you disagree?โ€ Madelynโ€™s voice rose.

Cyrus lowered his head. โ€œMs. Thornton, youโ€™re overthinking it. Iโ€™m just an assistant. I was wondering why, as weโ€™ve always minded our own business, you suddenly want to compete with Jiminez Corporation.โ€

Madelyn scoffed. โ€œThey brought it upon themselves!โ€ She added, โ€œCarry out my instructions.โ€

โ€œUnderstood.โ€ Cyrus nodded.

โ€œOh, rightโ€ฆโ€ Madelyn stopped him. โ€œTry not to let my father know. Iโ€™m worried heโ€™ll accuse me of acting impulsively.โ€

Cyrus nodded. โ€œGot it.โ€ He set out to handle the matter.

Madelyn sat, squinting. She mumbled, โ€œJanessa, you surely donโ€™t think Iโ€™m the same old Madelyn, do you? Hmphโ€ฆ Iโ€™ll show you where youโ€™ve gone wrong.โ€

Chapter 415: Deliberately Targeted

The CEO of Jiminez Corporation, William, was busy in his office. Suddenly, there was a brisk knock. โ€œMr. Jiminez, thereโ€™s trouble!โ€

โ€œCome in.โ€ William raised an eyebrow. โ€œWhatโ€™s the trouble?โ€

โ€œOur projects are having issues!โ€ A woman in professional attire rushed in, presenting a contract. โ€œMr. Jiminez, our projects were going smoothly, but clients backed out. Several projects inexplicably ran into funding issues. Our properties are vacant, and we canโ€™t continue construction!โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ William shuddered, glancing at the contract. โ€œWhat exactly is going on? Have you looked into this?โ€

โ€œWe did check, but we couldnโ€™t find anythingโ€”โ€

โ€œUseless!โ€ William slammed his hand on the table, cutting her off. He began a logical analysis. โ€œSince the companyโ€™s inception, weโ€™ve never encountered such issues. Someone has targeted us maliciously.โ€ He raised a finger. โ€œInvestigate thoroughly. If you donโ€™t solve this before nightfall, everyoneโ€™s salary will be cut in half!โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ The womanโ€™s expression fell.
