Chapter 394: Who Would Want To See You?

โ€œHowever, donโ€™t worry. Something is fishy about this, and I will definitely get to the bottom of it,โ€ Janessa assured.

Rachel sighed and shook her head. Since things had escalated, getting angry was futile. In the end, she could only say helplessly, โ€œThis matter cannot be left unresolved. We must find out who is behind this. Do you understand?โ€

โ€œYes, I will do my utmost,โ€ Janessa immediately nodded.

However, Rachel was still somewhat angry. She gave Janessa a deep look and, with a slightly reproachful tone, reprimanded, โ€œThis time, you have really disappointed me.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m sorry,โ€ Janessa apologized softly.

She then turned and went upstairs to investigate. Once back in her room, Janessa was so angry she grabbed pillows and stuffed animals, throwing them onto the floor. Not satisfied, she even knocked over the coffee table. Finally, after venting her frustrations, Janessa slumped onto the couch, her face crestfallen as she wondered why things had turned out this way. Who exactly had been meddling with the club? Who was maliciously targeting her?

The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. Gritting her teeth in fury, she immediately called Javier. โ€œJavier, have you made any progress on what I asked you to investigate?โ€

Javier was taken aback, but he shook his head helplessly. โ€œMs. Sherritt, not yet. It seems those clients have been completely bought off. None of them are willing to reveal anythingโ€ฆโ€

โ€œDamn it!โ€ Janessa exclaimed in anger. Then she ordered, โ€œIf you canโ€™t find out about that, leave it for now. I need you to investigate another matter.โ€

โ€œMs. Sherritt, you must be referring to the club incidents, right?โ€ Javier guessed. He had already seen the news and was about to report it when Janessa called.

Janessa nodded, a vicious glint in her eyes. โ€œYes, exactly. Investigate those clubs for me. Send more capable people. You must find out who is behind this, got it?โ€

She prayed silently, hoping to find the culprit; otherwise, she would never be satisfied.

On the other end, Javier looked at the disconnected call, feeling a strange warmth in his heart. On his phone screen, Janessaโ€™s contact name had quietly changed from โ€œMs. Sherrittโ€ to โ€œNews.โ€

Over time, hearing Janessaโ€™s voice every day had become a habit. He had grown accustomed to her frequent outbursts, even finding her fits of temper somewhat endearing. He was used to her reliance on him, much like a daughter relying on her father. He was used to her presence, as she was the only woman in his otherwise dull life he interacted with daily. Plus, this woman was quite attractive.

Javier couldnโ€™t imagine a day when Janessa would no longer order him around. The thought left him feeling empty and uncomfortable. So, no matter the cost, Javier was determined to fulfill all of Janessaโ€™s requests. That was the only way to ensure she kept him by her side.

With these thoughts in mind, Javier didnโ€™t linger. He immediately sprang into action.

At noon, after class, Madelyn decided to have lunch in the campus cafeteria with Jillian and Josiah. While eating, Josiah excitedly talked about his plans to join the military.

โ€œYou guys better cherish the time Iโ€™m still at school because after this semester, Iโ€™m officially enlisting. You wonโ€™t be able to see me even if you want to.โ€

โ€œGive it a rest, you narcissist. Who would want to see you?โ€ Madelyn grumbled, her cheeks puffed out from the food, making her look rather adorable.

โ€œExactly,โ€ Jillian echoed softly.

โ€œHey, how could you say that?โ€ Josiah raised his chin arrogantly. โ€œDo you think I care? Let me tell you, thereโ€™s a long line of girls waiting to see me! You two would have to wait your turn.โ€

Everyone burst into laughter.

โ€œWhy are you all laughing? Iโ€™m telling the truth,โ€ Josiah continued to boast.

Annoyed, Madelyn put her food into Josiahโ€™s bowl. โ€œThatโ€™s enough. Our handsome guy should eat more and talk less.โ€

Josiah muttered under his breath, โ€œF*ck you.โ€ Those nearby stifled their laughter.

As graduation was just around the corner, her words would give him something to hold onto during his time in the military.

In the afternoon, after class, Madelyn went to Lockhart Group. She had been so busy with company matters lately that she hadnโ€™t had time for her studies, so today she made a point to come. Of course, she also wanted to spend more time with Sebastian under the guise of resting. For some reason, she kept thinking about recent events, which made her crave his presence. Only by his side did she feel truly at ease.

In the evening, after finishing her work, Madelyn walked into Sebastianโ€™s office. โ€œSebastian, shall we have dinner together?โ€

However, Wesley and Harriet were also there, inviting Sebastian to dinner.

โ€œAhemโ€ฆโ€ Wesley coughed awkwardly. โ€œMadelyn, youโ€™re too late. Sebastian has already made plans with us.โ€

โ€œYou two?โ€ Madelyn cast a thoughtful glance at them, noticing Harriet had made an extra effort to dress up. She looked remarkably radiant and attractive.

F*ck! Who is this woman trying to seduce?

Thinking this, Madelyn firmly said, โ€œNo! Sebastian is having dinner with me.โ€
