Chapter 361: Only Have Feelings For You
Even in her dreams, Janessa longed to reclaim her company. How could she possibly not want it?
She quickly clarified. โAunt Rachel, youโve misunderstood. Truth be told, Iโve managed to secure several high-quality projects from Sherritt Groupโs rival recently. My father has started to appreciate my efforts more.โ
โReally?โ Rachel was somewhat skeptical.
Janessa quickly nodded. โYes, Aunt Rachel, ever since I became friends with Hayden from the Blume family, my father has started to see me in a new light.โ
In reality, though Janessa appeared to be doing nothing, she was working with Javier on making their moves covertly. Although Rupert wasn't particularly fond of Janessa, her results demonstrated her capabilities to a certain extent. As a result, the companyโs board of directors had also changed their perspective.
When she heard this, Rachelโs expression noticeably improved; however, she still maintained her icy demeanor. โWhatโs the use of impressing them? What I need you to do is topple Scarlet! Otherwise, as long as she stays in the Sherritt Group, she will attack you every single day. If this continues, when will you be able to reclaim everything that belongs to your mother?โ
All these years, Rachel had been deeply troubled by her sisterโs death. She believed that if not for the Sherritt mother and daughter and that disloyal man, her sister wouldn't have died with such lingering grievances. No matter what, Rachel was determined to avenge her sister.
Upon hearing this, Janessa furrowed her brows. โAunt Rachel, I understand I must bring that woman down to smoothly infiltrate the company, but how should I go about it? Toppling her wonโt be an easy task.โ
Rachel, far more experienced than Janessa, had more devious ideas. She flashed a sly smile. โThe thing Rupert despises most is disloyalty. All you need to do is hatch a plan creating a scandal between Scarlet and another man. Itโs guaranteed to infuriate Rupert. Then, you can seize the opportunity. Wouldn't that be the end of her?โ
When she heard the plan, Janessaโs eyes widened. โAunt Rachel, I understand!โ she exclaimed. โAll I need is to craft a few scenarios that would shatter Scarletโs image in my fatherโs heart. Once thatโs done, she will never be able to clear her name! At that point, someone as insignificant as Cheryl will certainly be no match for me.โ
Upon hearing this, Rachel chuckled with relief. โThatโs more like it. At least youโve gained some insight. My efforts in nurturing you havenโt been in vain. Your mother initially lost out to Scarlet, resulting in your motherโs heartbreak and tragic death away from home. After you were reunited with the Sherritt family, that woman never treated you as a human being. I, as your aunt, simply cannot swallow such an insult. Your mother was too naive and trusted men too much. So, Janessa, you must stand up on behalf of your deceased mother!โ
As Rachel spoke, her demeanor became serious and solemn. Originally, Janessa was quite calm; however, after hearing these words, her entire being turned incredibly cold and menacing. She had always known her motherโs death was connected to Scarlet, but she never imagined her mother had died under such humiliating circumstances.
Scarlet and Cheryl, you two are despicable! In her heart, Janessa swore she would definitely make them pay.
โAunt Rachel, rest assured,โ Janessa asserted. โI will make sure Scarlet pays for what sheโs done. And Cheryl, who does she think she is? I wonโt let them off easily!โ
Rachel laughed, finally satisfied. Following that, Janessa contacted Javier.
โMs. Sherritt, how may I assist you?โ Javierโs icy voice came through.
With indignation, Janessa outlined the tasks she needed accomplished. Upon hearing this, Javier nodded. โDonโt worry, Ms. Sherritt. Iโll take care of this.โ
โAlright, itโs up to you now.โ As Janessa ended the call, a malicious glint sparked in her eyes.
Meanwhile, after school, Madelyn went to combat training. Once she finished, she dragged her weary body home, surprised to find Sebastian waiting.
A sweet smile graced Madelynโs mouth. โSebastian, Iโm back,โ she said.
Sebastian gave her a casual glance, nodding slightly. โLetโs eat.โ
They shared a meal. Even though Sebastian didnโt speak much, he continuously served Madelyn more food, filling her heart with warmth. During their occasional glances, Madelynโs eyes shone brightly, reflecting immense happiness. A hint of a smile appeared on Sebastianโs usually serious face.
Suddenly, a cellphone rang. It was undoubtedly Madelynโs; Sebastian would never use such a ringtone. Madelyn chuckled before answering.
โHello!โ
โHello?โ
After saying hello twice, she furrowed her brows in confusion. Who was this? Just as she was about to hang up, a terrifying voice echoed.
โI am Phantom.โ
Madelyn felt a jolt. She almost dropped her phone! How could it be Phantom? She had only been back from the Oceani Empire for a few days. Why was he calling her? A wave of unease washed over her.
She mustered a timid glance at Sebastian. โSebastian, um, I need to take a call.โ She quickly covered her phone and silently walked outside. Once she was alone, she asked, โPhantom, why are you calling?โ
โYou seem rather displeased to hear my voice,โ Phantom retorted, amused.
โOf course I am!โ
