Chapter 348: Difficult to Deal With
โWhy the Edwards?โ Morgana asked.
โGiven that most other families tend to keep a low profile, only the Edwards remain fairly active in the business world,โ Madelyn suggested analytically. โThus, I believe you might want to start with them before reaching out to the others.โ
Upon hearing this, Morgana fell into deep thought.
โIโve said pretty much everything I know,โ Madelyn asked a moment later. โCan I go home now?โ
Morgana cast a doubtful glance at Madelyn, wondering if she was telling the truth. After giving it some thought, she nodded. โAll right, you can go now.โ
I donโt think she dares to lie. Even if she did, she wouldnโt be able to escape.
โThen Iโll take my leave,โ Madelyn said, finally smiling. โItโs been a pleasure meeting you. If anything else comes to mind, Iโll be sure to report back promptly.โ
Following that, she returned to her room, tidying up and preparing to go home. While seated on the plane, she was in high spirits. As she gazed at the rosy twilight outside the window, she cheered, โI can finally go home! This is great!โ
Phantom cast a glance at her and scoffed. โIs going home really that exciting?โ
โOf course!โ Madelyn nodded, her face illuminated with a radiant smile. โA day apart feels like an eternity!โ
With a look of disdain, Phantom said, โIs it really that over the top?โ
Madelyn scoffed. โSomeone like you whoโs never experienced love wonโt understand my feelings!โ
In reality, Madelyn had been missing Sebastian terribly. Every time she thought of his handsome face, she yearned to be in his arms, to kiss and hold him tightly.
โReally?โ Phantom saw her blissful expression and smiled. โIโm glad youโre happy. I was worried you might hold a grudge against me.โ
โOf course I do!โ Madelyn declared, theatrically waving her fists. โHey, donโt think Iโve let you off the hook just because I havenโt settled the score yet. Let me tell you, if I wasnโt worried youโd throw me off the plane, I wouldโve punched you by now.โ
However, she soon chuckled, reclining comfortably in her seat. โNevertheless, thereโs plenty of time in the future for revenge. For now, Iโll let bygones be bygones.โ
โShould I be thanking you then?โ Phantom asked.
Madelyn immediately waved her hands. โNo, no. Please donโt. As long as you spare me, Iโll be forever grateful.โ

It was strange. For some reason, he felt at ease whenever he was with this girl.
Madelyn stopped fooling around and adopted a serious demeanor. โBy the way, Phantom, thereโs something I want to ask you.โ
โAsk away.โ
She lowered her voice and asked softly, โWill you be sent to investigate Nightingaleโs matter?โ
โYes, why?โ He looked at her with a puzzled expression.
She stated, โI just want to give you a warningโฆ In fact, when I woke up this morning, I had a premonition.โ
โIs that so?โ Phantomโs gaze darkened.
โYou might not know, but those families can be difficult to deal with,โ Madelyn said carefully, a solemn expression on her face. โIf my predictions are correct, you might encounter danger on this mission.โ
โReally? Donโt mess with me,โ Phantom said skeptically.
Madelyn rolled her eyes. โItโs not like Iโd gain anything from tricking you.โ
Phantom nodded in agreement.
She continued, โBut the situation can still be avoided. Just remember one thing: You absolutely must not trust anyoneโs words lightly, including those closest to you, even Morgana.โ
Phantom instantly frowned. โWhat do you mean by that?โ
Madelyn shook her head, her expression inscrutable. โYou donโt need to ask so many questions. Just listen to me. After all, Iโm not entirely sure about this matter because I canโt see things very clearly. But you might get into some danger, so just be careful,โ she warned.
After she finished speaking and noticed the doubtful expression on Phantomโs face, she added, โOf course, if you donโt believe me, thereโs nothing I can do about it.โ
With that, she put on her steam eye mask and went to sleep. After a while, a cold voice rang out. โI trust you. Iโll be mindful of this matter.โ
A faint smile formed at the corner of her lips, and she said nothing more. She merely recalled what happened in her previous life. Back when she got in touch with the Oceanic Empire, she had chanced upon a rumor: Within less than six months, both of Morganaโs right-hand men were almost incapacitated.
In this lifetime, since Madelyn had altered the course of her previous life, everything would probably happen ahead of schedule. She calculated carefully and surmised it should happen soon. As far as she could remember, there had been rumors that claimed this was the doing of a mole hidden near Phantom. She had no idea who it was, so all she could do was warn him.

As for the rest, it was up to Phantom himself. However, to be completely honest, Madelyn wished Phantom would be safe.
Though their encounters had been far from pleasantโPhantom always threatened, intimidated, and even kidnapped herโhe had helped her before. Furthermore, she thought Phantom wasnโt a bad guy at all and that the Oceanic Empire could be considered her backer. She would help Phantom as much as she could. After all, there was no harm in doing so.
Lost in her thoughts, Madelyn eventually drifted off to sleep. When she opened her eyes again, the plane had already landed at the airport in Clusia. When Madelyn caught sight of the familiar Clusian characters, she immediately leaped with excitement. โYay! Iโm finally home!โ
Meanwhile, Sebastianโs plane touched down at the airport too. Malcolm was right beside Sebastian, arranging for someone to pick them up while Sebastian waited patiently.
At that very moment, Madelyn glimpsed the tall, striking figure amidst the sea of people. A smile bloomed on her face in an instant. โSebastian!โ she called out, brimming with excitement as she sprinted toward him.
Before Sebastian could even react, Madelyn jumped into his embrace, her legs clinging tightly around his waist as she planted a firm kiss on his face.
