Chapter 348: Difficult to Deal With
“Why the Edwards?” Morgana asked.
“Given that most other families tend to keep a low profile, only the Edwards remain fairly active in the business world,” Madelyn suggested analytically. “Thus, I believe you might want to start with them before reaching out to the others.”
Upon hearing this, Morgana fell into deep thought.
“I’ve said pretty much everything I know,” Madelyn asked a moment later. “Can I go home now?”
Morgana cast a doubtful glance at Madelyn, wondering if she was telling the truth. After giving it some thought, she nodded. “All right, you can go now.”
I don’t think she dares to lie. Even if she did, she wouldn’t be able to escape.
“Then I’ll take my leave,” Madelyn said, finally smiling. “It’s been a pleasure meeting you. If anything else comes to mind, I’ll be sure to report back promptly.”
Following that, she returned to her room, tidying up and preparing to go home. While seated on the plane, she was in high spirits. As she gazed at the rosy twilight outside the window, she cheered, “I can finally go home! This is great!”
Phantom cast a glance at her and scoffed. “Is going home really that exciting?”
“Of course!” Madelyn nodded, her face illuminated with a radiant smile. “A day apart feels like an eternity!”
With a look of disdain, Phantom said, “Is it really that over the top?”
Madelyn scoffed. “Someone like you who’s never experienced love won’t understand my feelings!”
In reality, Madelyn had been missing Sebastian terribly. Every time she thought of his handsome face, she yearned to be in his arms, to kiss and hold him tightly.
“Really?” Phantom saw her blissful expression and smiled. “I’m glad you’re happy. I was worried you might hold a grudge against me.”
“Of course I do!” Madelyn declared, theatrically waving her fists. “Hey, don’t think I’ve let you off the hook just because I haven’t settled the score yet. Let me tell you, if I wasn’t worried you’d throw me off the plane, I would’ve punched you by now.”
However, she soon chuckled, reclining comfortably in her seat. “Nevertheless, there’s plenty of time in the future for revenge. For now, I’ll let bygones be bygones.”
“Should I be thanking you then?” Phantom asked.
Madelyn immediately waved her hands. “No, no. Please don’t. As long as you spare me, I’ll be forever grateful.”
Chapter 348: Difficult to Deal With
It was strange. For some reason, he felt at ease whenever he was with this girl.
Madelyn stopped fooling around and adopted a serious demeanor. “By the way, Phantom, there’s something I want to ask you.”
“Ask away.”
She lowered her voice and asked softly, “Will you be sent to investigate Nightingale’s matter?”
“Yes, why?” He looked at her with a puzzled expression.
She stated, “I just want to give you a warning… In fact, when I woke up this morning, I had a premonition.”
“Is that so?” Phantom’s gaze darkened.
“You might not know, but those families can be difficult to deal with,” Madelyn said carefully, a solemn expression on her face. “If my predictions are correct, you might encounter danger on this mission.”
“Really? Don’t mess with me,” Phantom said skeptically.
Madelyn rolled her eyes. “It’s not like I’d gain anything from tricking you.”
Phantom nodded in agreement.
She continued, “But the situation can still be avoided. Just remember one thing: You absolutely must not trust anyone’s words lightly, including those closest to you, even Morgana.”
Phantom instantly frowned. “What do you mean by that?”
Madelyn shook her head, her expression inscrutable. “You don’t need to ask so many questions. Just listen to me. After all, I’m not entirely sure about this matter because I can’t see things very clearly. But you might get into some danger, so just be careful,” she warned.
After she finished speaking and noticed the doubtful expression on Phantom’s face, she added, “Of course, if you don’t believe me, there’s nothing I can do about it.”
With that, she put on her steam eye mask and went to sleep. After a while, a cold voice rang out. “I trust you. I’ll be mindful of this matter.”
A faint smile formed at the corner of her lips, and she said nothing more. She merely recalled what happened in her previous life. Back when she got in touch with the Oceanic Empire, she had chanced upon a rumor: Within less than six months, both of Morgana’s right-hand men were almost incapacitated.
In this lifetime, since Madelyn had altered the course of her previous life, everything would probably happen ahead of schedule. She calculated carefully and surmised it should happen soon. As far as she could remember, there had been rumors that claimed this was the doing of a mole hidden near Phantom. She had no idea who it was, so all she could do was warn him.

As for the rest, it was up to Phantom himself. However, to be completely honest, Madelyn wished Phantom would be safe.
Though their encounters had been far from pleasant—Phantom always threatened, intimidated, and even kidnapped her—he had helped her before. Furthermore, she thought Phantom wasn’t a bad guy at all and that the Oceanic Empire could be considered her backer. She would help Phantom as much as she could. After all, there was no harm in doing so.
Lost in her thoughts, Madelyn eventually drifted off to sleep. When she opened her eyes again, the plane had already landed at the airport in Clusia. When Madelyn caught sight of the familiar Clusian characters, she immediately leaped with excitement. “Yay! I’m finally home!”
Meanwhile, Sebastian’s plane touched down at the airport too. Malcolm was right beside Sebastian, arranging for someone to pick them up while Sebastian waited patiently.
At that very moment, Madelyn glimpsed the tall, striking figure amidst the sea of people. A smile bloomed on her face in an instant. “Sebastian!” she called out, brimming with excitement as she sprinted toward him.
Before Sebastian could even react, Madelyn jumped into his embrace, her legs clinging tightly around his waist as she planted a firm kiss on his face.
