Chapter 336: Death Wish

The group set off immediately. Meanwhile, inside the abandoned log factory, Hayden stared at his watch with amusement. โ€œOnly fifteen minutes left. Tsk, tsk.โ€ His gaze shifted toward Madelyn, a playful glint in his eyes. โ€œHow are you feeling? Great?โ€

The woman was drenched and shivered uncontrollably. Her fingers were coated with hot wax, leaving her hands scalded and swollenโ€”a ghastly sight. Countless whip marks were visible beneath her clothing. It was clear Hayden had subjected her to intense torment. She was in pain, yet she sneered. โ€œYou think youโ€™re all that, huh?โ€ she mocked, her lips ashen. โ€œIf you had the guts, you wouldโ€™ve confronted me openly instead of resorting to underhanded tricks like kidnapping me. Your cowardice is embarrassing!โ€

โ€œOh? Still playing tough, arenโ€™t you?โ€ Hayden laughed. โ€œIโ€™ve never claimed to be a gentleman,โ€ he commented, โ€œbut donโ€™t fool yourself into thinking youโ€™re perfect either. You dare claim you didnโ€™t cheat when you fired those shots at my old manโ€™s birthday party? Like Iโ€™d believe you! What right do cheaters like you have to humiliate me? Iโ€™m a highly esteemed major, for f*ckโ€™s sake!โ€

Each mention of that humiliation fueled his uncontrollable anger. He believed becoming a major at such a young age should have been a source of pride for the Blume family. Yet, he was outdone by Josiahโ€”a man universally considered useless. This was a bitter pill to swallow.

Madelyn laughed in disbelief. โ€œAre you out of your mind? Youโ€™re not as skilled, but you just donโ€™t want to admit it. Youโ€™re the most shameless person Iโ€™ve ever met. Everyone saw what happened that day. We didnโ€™t tamper with anything. You asked to switch guns because you were worried about us cheating, and Josiah agreed. So, how could we have cheated?โ€

She added, โ€œItโ€™s one thing to be a sore loser, but to stoop so low as to kidnap someone! Youโ€™re despicable. Iโ€™m ashamed on behalf of Old Mr. Blume.โ€

โ€œSay that again!โ€ Hayden raged. โ€œYou bitch! I guess you havenโ€™t suffered enough, huh? I was going to wait another ten minutes to see if a brat like Josiah had the guts to show up, but it looks like he wonโ€™t be able to rescue you today!โ€

Hayden signaled a nearby subordinate. โ€œBring me the knife,โ€ he ordered, โ€œI want this womanโ€™s hands rendered useless. Letโ€™s see if she dares run her mouth again!โ€

โ€œYes, Sir.โ€ The subordinate approached with a knife, its sharp blade exuding a chilling intensity. Madelyn broke into a cold sweat. The torture sheโ€™d endured was painful enough, and now fear peaked. She silently vowed to make Hayden pay if her hands were harmed.

Two henchmen stood before her. One grasped her hand; the other raised a machete. Hayden watched with interest, relishing his vengeance. He was on cloud nine.

Startled, Madelyn gasped and shut her eyes. โ€œArgh!โ€ A piercing scream echoed. Madelyn trembled. โ€œDonโ€™t cut me, donโ€™t cut meโ€ฆโ€ she pleaded. โ€œArghh!โ€ Another cry rang out.

Something was off. It wasnโ€™t her who screamed, nor did she feel pain. She opened her eyes. The two guards were on the ground, limbs twisted. Men in matching black uniforms and masks stormed in. Madelyn was stunned. Hayden was even more bewildered. โ€œWho are you?โ€ he yelled.

The only response was a swift kick. The leader was incredibly fast and strong, kicking Hayden across the room. โ€œGet rid of all this garbage!โ€ the unknown man raged.

โ€œYes, Sir!โ€ The subordinates sprang into action. Hayden, undeterred, roared, โ€œGet them!โ€ His men charged. The two sides battled. Hayden watched, self-satisfied.

Heโ€™d handpicked his men from the militaryโ€”skilled fighters. Anyone who picked a fight with him had a death wish! But his expression soon changed. All his henchmen were down within minutes! A man dragged Hayden to his knees before the leader. โ€œBoss, this guy must be the head of this group.โ€

The masked man scoffed. โ€œYou had the gall to kidnap someone with such mediocre abilities?โ€ Hayden was enraged. โ€œWho the hell are you?โ€ Madelyn wondered who the man was; his voice sounded familiar.

The unknown man chuckled and removed his mask. Madelynโ€™s eyes widened in disbelief. It was Phantom. โ€œWeโ€™ve only been apart a little while, Madelyn. Do you really have to look at me with such lovesick eyes?โ€

Noticing her expression, Phantom laughed. Madelyn was taken aback. โ€œW-What are you doing here?โ€ โ€œOf course I came to rescue you. Canโ€™t you tell?โ€ Phantom grinned. He signaled a subordinate to untie her.

Finally, he turned to Hayden. โ€œYou actually dared lay a finger on her. Pretty bold of you, huh?โ€ he remarked, his voice chilling. โ€œWhoโ€ฆ who on earth are you?โ€ Hayden was thrown off. The manโ€™s aura was overpowering.

With a captivating, devilish laugh, Phantom answered, โ€œYouโ€™re not worthy of knowing my name.โ€ He asked, โ€œWere you just about to chop off Madelynโ€™s hand?โ€ Flustered, Hayden denied it.
