Chapter 272 Pleading For Mercy And Yielding

An evasive look flashed in Madelynโ€™s eyes, and she dared not meet the profound gaze of Sebastian.

โ€œHmm?โ€ Sebastian stared at her, his voice chilling a few degrees further.

Madelyn was at a loss for words, her mouth agape in hesitation for quite some time, yet she couldnโ€™t utter a single word.

With a softer tone, she tried to soothe him, โ€œSebastian, I was just so worried about you. Thatโ€™s why I wanted to help. Can you please stop being angryโ€ฆ When youโ€™re upset, it scares me.โ€

Her eyes, clear and innocent like a young deerโ€™s, seemed to shimmer with unshed tears. Madelyn, in an attempt to appease Sebastian, crawled over to his side. Her gaze was so pure and transparent that it made one feel as though they could see straight into her heart, which was as untouched as a sheet of white paper.

With a sense of helplessness, he sighedโ€ฆ

Sebastian knew Madelyn was definitely not as simple as she appeared on the surface. There were too many enigmatic aspects about her that remained unfathomable.

Yet, as he looked at her innocently harmless face, Sebastian found himself unable to muster any anger. In the end, all he could do was let out a soft sigh, advising her, โ€œFrom now on, youโ€™re not allowed to do such dangerous things alone. If I find out thereโ€™s a next timeโ€ฆโ€

Before he could finish his words, Madelyn interrupted, โ€œNever again, absolutely never again. From now on, Iโ€™ll let you know wherever Iโ€™m going, okay?โ€

Madelyn leveled an innocent expression at Sebastian, whose anger finally simmered down to a manageable level.

โ€œHowever, how did you know I was here too?โ€ Madelyn asked with a hint of curiosity.

Could it have been Grimo who spilled the beans to Sebastian? No one else could possibly have known about her coming here. Ah, what an oversight on her part. She had calculated everything but failed to consider Grimo. If only she had given him a heads-up. Madelyn was somewhat annoyed.

โ€œLydia mentioned you hadnโ€™t been home in two days, so I had Malcolm look into it,โ€ Sebastian said, his voice casual as he glanced at her. โ€œThatโ€™s how I found out youโ€™d taken leave from school and booked a flight over here on the same day. What, did you think I wouldnโ€™t know if you didnโ€™t tell me?โ€ His side profile was strikingly handsome, almost unbelievably so.

โ€œSo thatโ€™s what happenedโ€ฆโ€ Madelyn mused, nodding slightly in thought.

Following that, a warm and dry hand reached under her delicate armpits. Sebastian gently lifted the petite figure from the icy floor, assisting her onto the bed. He then lightly tousled her hair. โ€œAll right, youโ€™ve worked hard today. Rest early, and tomorrow morning weโ€™ll pack up and return home together.โ€

Madelyn obediently nodded, then settled back onto the bed, a quiet sigh of relief slipping from her.

Fortunately, Sebastian didnโ€™t intend to dig deeper. Had he truly insisted on forcing her to spill any secrets, she would have been doomed because she had nothing to say.

At that moment, the sound of the shower echoed from the bathroom, where Sebastian was freshening up. As Madelyn gazed at the blurry silhouette, she inexplicably felt a wave of comfort wash over her.

In no time, Sebastian, clad in a bathrobe, emerged. He naturally laid down next to her, extending his slender wrist and gently drawing her body into his embrace.

A warm breath gently brushed against her ear, and Madelynโ€™s petite figure was cradled in his arms. Her face instantly flushed an intense shade of red, and her heart gradually filled with a sweet affection.

She had a good nightโ€™s sleep after that.

The following day, the two of them woke up at the crack of dawn, packed their belongings, and were ready to return home. Just then, there was a sudden knock on the door.

Madelyn walked straight over to open the door. Seeing who it was, she couldnโ€™t help but smile. โ€œGrimo? What brings you here so early?โ€

โ€œDidnโ€™t you mention that you were returning to your home country this morning?โ€ Grimo said casually. โ€œIt so happens that I am also leaving today, off on a business trip to another country. Thatโ€™s why I made a special effort to come and say goodbye to you.โ€

โ€œSafe travels.โ€ At that moment, Sebastian also emerged from within.

Grimo clearly hadnโ€™t anticipated running into Sebastian here, his expression betraying his surprise. However, upon further thought, it made sense. After all, Sebastian was Madelynโ€™s fiancรฉ. It was only natural for them to spend the night together.

With that, he managed a friendly smile. His grin was pure and gentle, devoid of any mischievous air. Instead, it held an inexplicable touch of indifference. โ€œWish you all a smooth journey,โ€ he said.

The couple had faint smiles as they nodded.

Following that, Adelar came forward, dragging their luggage behind him. โ€œBoss, we can set off now.โ€

Grimo gave a slight nod, then waved at Madelyn and Sebastian, turning around to leave.

The two of them returned to the room once more to pack their belongings.

Fortunately, both of them hadnโ€™t brought much over, making packing a relatively easy task. In no time, Madelyn had neatly organized her clothes and other daily necessities, then closed the suitcase.

Half an hour later, at the airport.

Harriet and the others had been waiting for some time. Wesley was standing right next to her. They had been talking about something while a hint of a smile played at the corners of Harrietโ€™s mouth.

At that moment, Sebastian took Madelyn by the hand and strode forward, asking in a cold voice, โ€œIs everyone here?โ€

Harriet had been all smiles, but the moment she turned her head and saw Madelyn, her smile abruptly faded. Why was this woman here?

However, she didnโ€™t ask much else, only stating with a cold expression, โ€œEveryoneโ€™s here. We can set off now.โ€

At that moment, Madelyn glanced at Harriet. Their eyes met, exchanging a look of jealousy and disdain that only women could understand.

Since everyone had arrived, Sebastian didnโ€™t say much else.

A moment later, as if recalling something, he turned back to Harriet and instructed, โ€œMs. Moore, thereโ€™s no need for you to return home for now. Thereโ€™s another matter that requires your attention.โ€

Harriet was clearly taken aback and stumbled over her words. โ€œHuh? What else is thereโ€ฆโ€

โ€œThe Atharia branch has a major project underway that requires supervision. As the finance manager, youโ€™ll definitely have responsibilities to shoulder, so you should head over there for now. As for what specifically needs to be done, Iโ€™ll have my assistant inform you.โ€

After speaking, Sebastian turned to look at everyone. His determined and handsome face showed no emotion as he said in a cold voice, โ€œItโ€™s about time. Letโ€™s board the plane.โ€

Upon hearing the words, everyone in the group nodded in agreement before they began to board the plane.

Harriet stood frozen on the spot, a clear hint of desolation flickering in her otherwise calm eyes.

She had risen at the crack of dawn to pack her belongings, all set to return home. But why, at this critical moment, did Sebastian suddenly ask her to go to Atharia?

Could it be that he deliberately wanted to transfer her away so he wouldnโ€™t have to see her anymore?

At this point, Wesley couldnโ€™t bear to watch anymore, but as this was a matter of official business, he couldnโ€™t say much. All he could do was turn around to comfort Harriet, โ€œHarriet, just focus on your work over there. Iโ€™m sure youโ€™ll be able to return home after some time.โ€
