Madelyn’s face turned pale when she heard that.

Grimo noticed her panic and quickly struck while the iron was hot. “However, you can save their lives, don’t you?”

“What does that mean?” Madelyn was taken aback.

“It’s quite simple. I remember you telling me about your superpowers. If you could collaborate with me to take down Hellfire Creed, then…”

Before Grimo could even finish his sentence, he was ruthlessly interrupted by Madelyn, “Impossible.”

“Why?” Grimo retorted, a hint of anger laced in his tone.

Madelyn, however, said resolutely, “I do want to help, but regarding this matter, I really can’t do anything.”

In truth, the situation had indeed escalated far beyond Madelyn’s imagination. She desperately wanted to rescue Sebastian from his dire straits, but she was truly helpless.

“Even if I do have supernatural powers, it’s not something I could use all the time. Besides, I’ve told you before: predicting the future is hit or miss. I really can’t control it,” Madelyn said.

“What’s wrong? What are you thinking about?” Grimo asked, looking puzzled.

“It’s nothing.” She immediately shook her head, but she couldn’t help but wonder if this incident could be related to those rumors from her past life.

Judging by the time Sebastian disappeared, it did indeed seem to line up. However, as for what exactly transpired, Madelyn hadn’t personally experienced it in her previous life, so she had no idea.

Then, unexpectedly, Grimo suggested, “What if I move into the room next to yours?”

“Huh?”

Grimo suddenly smiled, his face strikingly handsome. “Since we’re working together, being closer to you makes things easier, doesn’t it?” he said.

“You… Could you act normal for once?” Madelyn was utterly speechless.

“I’m acting perfectly normal,” Grimo said with a mischievous grin. “I was merely talking about our collaboration. What were you thinking?”

Madelyn swallowed hard, rolling her eyes. “Enough with the nonsense. Get out of here now!” she demanded.

Grimo finally stopped teasing her when he was asked to leave. Maintaining a charming smile, he said, “All right, I’ll stop teasing you now. It’s getting late. You should get some rest.”

After he finished speaking, he strode out of her room.

She quickly stepped forward to close the door, then took a deep breath.

Collaborating with Grimo doesn’t seem like a bad idea after all. My plan of seeking Phantom’s help didn’t work out, and conveniently, Grimo has plenty of people under his command. He could totally lend a hand, couldn’t he?

With this in mind, Madelyn finally sighed in relief.

She collapsed back onto the bed, yet found herself unable to get any sleep.

Images kept flashing in her mind. Every moment she shared with Sebastian, every single faint smile of his, and every time he tenderly cared for her….

With those memories filling her mind coupled with the fact that Sebastian was now missing, Madelyn felt a pang squeezing her heart.

On Madelyn’s third day in Rodunst, Grimo came to her room not long after she woke up. She couldn’t help feeling startled seeing the man’s green eyes so early in the morning.

“How come your eyes are green?” she asked casually.

“I’m mixed–race. Have you never seen one before?” Grimo responded nonchalantly, before continuing, “You can rest in your room for the next couple of days. Leave the task of gathering information to us.”

“Actually, I was thinking the same thing.” Madelyn chuckled, pleased that she got to slack off.

Grimo found her rather endearing.

In the evening, Grimo and Madelyn were bored, so they decided to play chess in the hotel lobby.

Just then, a towering figure with a robust physique suddenly dashed through the door, standing firm in front of the pair.

“Boss, I’ve got news on the matter you asked me to look into,” Adelar reported, standing squarely in front of the two.

Madelyn and Grimo’s expressions tensed simultaneously.
