Chapter 198 I Like It

Janessa paused for a moment, then added, โ€œActually, thereโ€™s something else I need to ask of you. I wonโ€™t get into the details now. Iโ€™ll tell you when the time comes.โ€

After saying that, Janessa happily left.

Madelyn watched her retreating figure, a sly smile playing at the corners of her mouth.

In that case, all we can do is wait and see, right?

At that time, in the study, Sebastian was engrossed in his work, his face expressionless, subtly radiating an air of indifference. His deep-set eyes reflected a chilling intensity due to his focus, and his entire demeanor exuded unparalleled nobility.

He held a fountain pen in his slender and handsome fingers, poised above a contract that had already been reviewed. With effortless grace, he dropped a signature onto the page. It was attractive and artistically designed, exuding a casual yet chic flair.

At that moment, the phone on the table suddenly began to ring.

The name Malcolm popped up on the screen. Upon seeing it, Sebastian immediately answered the call.

As soon as he held the phone up to his ear, Malcolm on the other end began to apologize incessantly.

โ€œMr. Lockhart, Iโ€™m sorry,โ€ he began, โ€œThe person you asked me to tail that nightโ€ฆ I was halfway through when they suddenly spotted me. Then, they managed to shake us offโ€ฆโ€

โ€œSo?โ€ Sebastian slightly furrowed his brows.

Malcolm hastily said, โ€œHowever, Mr. Lockhart, we think weโ€™ve identified someone. That person seems to be named something like Adelar.โ€

Upon hearing these words, Sebastian was slightly taken aback.

Of course, he knew about Adelar.

Adelar, the top assassin on the international hit list, had been sought after by countless big shots who wanted to buy his loyalty. Yet, Adelar didnโ€™t accept anyoneโ€™s money. He served solely for a foreign arms tycoon, simply because this tycoon had once saved his life.

As for that arms tycoon, perhaps the average person wouldnโ€™t know who he was, but Sebastian was well aware.

His name was Grimo, a figure who struck fear into the hearts of all in the underworld. He controlled almost all of the weapons in the criminal world, and even some nations had to purchase specially made weapons from him.

However, despite being such a prominent arms tycoon, he was not very old. It seemed as if he had already ascended to such a high position by the age of thirty, which was truly impressive.

Of course, what truly astonished Sebastian wasnโ€™t Grimoโ€™s background, but rather, Madelyn.

With these thoughts in mind, Sebastian felt a heavy burden on his heart. He immediately turned to Malcolm and said, โ€œOnce youโ€™ve settled matters over there, return to the country as soon as possible. Then, assign more people to stay close to Madelyn, keeping a constant watch over her to ensure her safety.โ€

โ€œYes,โ€ Malcolm replied.

Despite everything, Sebastian still harbored a sense of unease in his heart. After all, since their arrival overseas, Madelynโ€™s actions had been nothing short of shocking and scandalous.

The most astonishing thing was that she had the audacity to impersonate Morgana. If word about this got out, it wouldnโ€™t be a minor issue. It was enough to land her in a considerable amount of trouble.

Therefore, it was imperative for Sebastian to ensure the safety of his beloved.

โ€œThereโ€™s another matter, Mr. Lockhart.โ€

At this point, Malcolm spoke again. โ€œThe people from Hellfire Creed have been caught. After interrogating them, we found out that the person who attacked you last time was just one of their leaders. Now, their boss has come to demand their release. How do you think we should handle this situation?โ€

Upon hearing this news, Sebastian was not surprised in the slightest.

Although the boss was not exactly a big shot, he was the leader of an organization. Now that he had personally come to claim someone, it was difficult for Sebastian to refuse him outright.

After all, Sebastian originally just wanted to teach those guys a lesson. As long as they knew that the Lockhart family was not one to be trifled with, that was enough.

So, with a cold tone, he said, โ€œSince their boss has come asking for a favor, letโ€™s grant it to them. Just release the person.โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ Malcolm responded.

Then, the call was ended.

No sooner had the phone call ended than a sudden shout echoed from outside.

Madelyn had reached the doorway of the study at that moment. Casting a cheerful glance at Sebastian, she said, โ€œThe two hours are up. You should keep your promise now.โ€

Sebastian was practically at his witโ€™s end, but since he had given his word to Madelyn, he had no choice but to temporarily set aside his work and stand up.

Madelyn was quite pleased.

She then added, โ€œDonโ€™t rush, Iโ€™ve just prepared some late-night snacks for you downstairs. You can rest after youโ€™ve eaten.โ€

Upon hearing these words, Sebastian didnโ€™t resist. He did as he was told.

First, they finished off their late-night snack completely. Then, they went to freshen up, and finally, obediently went to bed to sleep.

Upon returning to his homeland, his life resumed its original course.

The following day, after the two of them woke up, Sebastian, as usual, dropped Madelyn at the campus before heading back to his company.

After all, it had been quite some time since Madelyn last attended school. Now, returning once again, she felt an inexplicable sense of joy. So, she walked to the classroom with a spring in her step.

Upon entering the classroom, she saw Jillian, who was quietly sitting at her desk, clad in a loose, white T-shirt.

A mischievous smile suddenly played at the corners of Madelynโ€™s mouth, and then she stealthily made her way over.

Once she reached behind Jillian, she suddenly leapt in front of the latter, exclaiming, โ€œHey!โ€

โ€œAh!โ€ Jillian was taken aback.

Once she realized it was Madelyn, she was caught between laughter and despair, exclaiming, โ€œMadelyn, youโ€™re finally back!โ€

โ€œHaha, my beauty, did you miss me?โ€ Madelyn said, her laughter filled with playful mischief.

โ€œOf course Iโ€™ve missed you,โ€ Jillian affirmed with a vigorous nod.

Madelynโ€™s smile grew even brighter. โ€œSince youโ€™ve been thinking of me so much, let me give you a gift.โ€

Then, under Jillianโ€™s watchful gaze, Madelyn brought out a small, square wooden box.

โ€œWhat is this?โ€ Jillian asked curiously.

With a mischievous grin, Madelyn coaxed, โ€œWhy donโ€™t you open it and see for yourself?โ€

Jillian nodded, then proceeded to open the box. Inside, she discovered a bracelet, shimmering with a brilliant silver glow.

โ€œWow, itโ€™s so beautiful!โ€ For the first time, Jillian laid her eyes on such a dazzling bracelet, and she was immediately awestruck.

Madelyn chuckled. โ€œThis is something I specifically picked out for you in Rodunst. So, do you like it?โ€

โ€œLike it? Of course, I like it! Madelyn, youโ€™re really the best.โ€ Jillian was overjoyed, then she immediately took off the bracelet and wore it on her wrist. The bracelet complemented her fair skin, making it look very attractive. This made Jillian even happier.

However, immediately after, Jillian suddenly regained her composure. With a mysterious air, she said, โ€œMadelyn, let me tell you something. While you were away, our school welcomed two new transfer students. Can you guess who they are?โ€
