Chapter 97: Drink

“You want me to endanger myself by showing up alone just to deal with the so-called procedures? Then you’ll find a chance to drug me and sell me off to Bylast just for harvest.”

“Mah! I’ve never stepped into a napather than the time I got married! Save those tricks for actual fools, you dumbası!!”

The agent 100 wasted time explaining to me, but I hung up. Afterward, I blocked the number immediately without hesitation. The alcohol had gotten the best of me. I kept jabbing my finger on the phone screen with all my might before I finally managed to block that number.

I was extremely annoyed, so I stuffed the cards I’d selected into my bag. Noticing the half-bottle on my table, I felt it was a total waste not to drink it, so I decided to down everything. Afterward, my legs went jelly-like, causing me to slump into my seat. I was so dizzy and disoriented; it felt as though my senses were stuck in a rollercoaster ride.

A staff member quickly pushed me. “Se, are you alright? Do you want me to call your friend?”

I felt nothing, no matter what. When I spoke, I was just slurring my words the whole time. I managed to crack my eyes open, only to see that the staff member had sprouted three heads that were rotating before me. The sight of them…

…made me forget what the staff member said afterward. It was something about an…

After that, darkness swallowed my senses whole. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

Opening my eyes again, I realized I was reclining against a soft and sweet-smelling body. It took great effort to crack my eyes open. Although my vision was blurry, I still mumbled like an idiot. “Ula, you’re here for me…”

Only to see a well-sculpted jaw.

The woman immediately looked at me. “What did you just say? Owen, open your eyes and look at me!”

Even though I was already starting to shake my head like a drug addict, I was oddly energetic, and I began to shout at the top of my lungs:

“Don’t rely on me, for I’m too used to the coldness of humanity. I aspire to become cold and heartless as well. Don’t rely on me!”

“Whether hell’s relying on the other?” the woman interrupted my chanting impatiently.

I pretended not to hear her. Instead, I continued loudly, “Don’t come any closer to me. I’m burning up right now. Everything acts as fodder to my flames. Don’t come any closer to me, Vila. I’m a ball of fire right…”

I shook my head. “Stop interrupting me! My chanting isn’t over yet! Come embrace me, for I descend from coziness and coolness. Embrace me and support me, for I’ve already grown old and started to wither away like a sick beast. Please support me!”

I felt her displeasure. Honestly, I didn’t understand why she was feeling that way.

“What’s wrong with you, Lila? If you’re in a bad mood because you don’t like my chanting, I can sing for you! I’m a good singer, you know! Previously, you mentioned that your mood would improve if I were to sing for you!”

I managed to sit up straight by propping myself up against the woman’s body. No matter how much strength she exerted, she couldn’t stop me from sitting up straight. Her expression was so stormy that she looked like she was going to explode any second. In fact, she looked like she was suppressing her anger.

I was very dizzy, but I still curled a fist near my mouth to act as a makeshift microphone:

“Apocalypse… Time’s up, so you should move on. Down the bridge, so life can start all over. Everything will be alright. You will never be blamed in this lifetime.”

“Seriously, your singing sucks. Owen, stop it!”

The woman finally couldn’t hold it back anymore. She used her hand to cover my mouth, her patience already on the verge of crumbling. Then, she leaned forward to buckle my seatbelt for me. Suddenly, I delivered a slap to her face.

That action stunned her instantly. Her eyes were trained on me right away. I just shook my head in an attempt to sober up. But the more I gazed at the woman, the more I felt that…

…she instantly reached out to rub the woman’s cheek.

“Lita, don’t slap me again, okay? You look like Yvette right now. Do you have any idea how flustered I get whenever I see her? I really want to beat her up and kill her, she’s the…”

Veettie’s breath hitched in her throat as she shook my hand lightly. Her voice was so frosty that it sent chills down my spine.

“Ciwen Tates,” she spat my name coldly. Then, I gazed at her in contusion.

Yvette did her best to keep her annoyance in check. I grabbed a bottle of mineral water from the minibar in the car before losing it in my arm.

I accepted the water bottle with a stupid grin etched on my face. Almost immediately, I demolished half of the water bottle. Then, I returned the bottle to Yvette.

“You really are an unpleasant person, Lila.”

Yvette accepted the water bottle. She gripped it tightly while staring at me warningly.

“From now on, you’re not allowed to mention Lila et again. I’m the one who’s taking you, drunk and crazy, home, you hear? If you compliment Lila right in front of me again, I won’t hesitate to kick you out of the car!”

Chapter V: Drink
