Chapter 78

Natalie sat next to James, holding his arm. “Brother, he wants to eat my cooking. I’ll cook for him and get back. Don’t worry about something like this. He’s tough, but I’m no pushover either. To get along peacefully, I won’t make a scene with him.”

Thinking it over, she knew that Easton’s harshness towards her was all because of Jennifer’s meddling and the fact that he didn’t love her.

In her mind, she again pictured Easton holding Jennifer tenderly, and her heart skipped a beat.

She thought about it again, ‘A girl needs to adapt to survive. Until she became stronger, she mustn’t go head-to-head with Easton. This time, she was going to use her wits to get everything she wanted. She would take all those resources that were Jennifer’s in the past life and make them hers. In her previous life, for the sake of Easton, she ended up alone. Living again, she could still feel the protection from her grandpa and three brothers.

The feeling of being protected was truly wonderful.

James frowned, with his handsome face tinged with a chill. “Natalie, if he dares to push you again, can’t the four of us siblings together stand up to Easton?” he asked. He didn’t want Natalie to get hurt again.

Natalie played with her hair and smiled gently. “Brother, no need for a life-and-death struggle with him. We have other ways to deal with this without revealing our identities. From what I know, behind Jennifer, there’s someone else with big ambitions, always wanting to take over all the families. If we expose ourselves, we will just become their target. No rush now. Let’s wait for the right moment.”

In this lifetime, she planned to protect his three brothers and Grandpa. She wouldn’t let them end up humiliated and die tragically like before. Her three brothers truly loved her, but in her previous life, she was somehow entranced and left them for the Simpson family. In the end, it resulted in a dual tragedy, and her brothers were the most heartbroken.

James smiled warmly. “Alright! Whatever you say. Go ahead and rest. Valerie won’t be coming back tonight anyway.”

Natalie replied, “Okay! You all should rest early too.” She was really tired today and went upstairs to rest. Natalie couldn’t help but recall scenes from her previous life.

In her previous life, only her eldest brother tried to cheer her up when she was sad. When she felt wronged, her eldest brother would buy her gifts. Even when she lashed out at him, he never got angry. He patiently consoled and advised her.

Having experienced her previous life, she knew that only Valerie, Grandpa, and her three brothers were people she could completely trust now and that she needed to be cautious with everyone else. Her previous life was exhausting, but in this one, she was determined to live happily.

As James and Lambert watched her leave, Lambert furrowed his brows and said, “Natalie really worries me. You three brothers have to work hard to earn money and take good care of her.”

James chuckled. “Grandpa, don’t worry. We’ve got everything planned out. We’ll make sure Natalie doesn’t get hurt.”

Lambert spoke earnestly, “Sigh! Natalie has a kind heart, but I worry her kindness might lead her the wrong way. It’s good to be kind, but you need to have some toughness too.”

James understood Grandfather’s concern, and a hint of sympathy flashed in his eyes. “I’ll take good care of Natalie. Don’t worry. She is capable. The three of us are no match for her. I heard she even reorganized the company and plans to sign a contract with the Chambers today.”

Lambert gave a proud grin and replied, “I didn’t raise you all for nothing. You’re all business elites, but I still haven’t found my second love. Alright, I’m off to bed. I’ll continue my search at tomorrow’s dance class.”

James was speechless. It had been many years and he was still by himself. James shook his head with a laugh. Grandpa really was young at heart.

James stood up and gazed into the deep night outside the window. He knew that Natalie truly no longer loved Easton. James thought, ‘But she had loved Easton throughout her entire youth. Could she really let go this time?”

It could be anyone, but it must never be Easton, that ruthless man. He was born in darkness and would never bring light to anyone.

After showering, Natalie looked at the familiar, luxurious room and smiled gently, finally feeling a sense of reality. She was still alive!

Lying on her big bed, she stared at the ceiling for a while. Then she sat up and texted Valerie.

Natalie: [Valerie, coming back tomorrow?]

Valerie: [Natalie, not coming back tomorrow. I’ve got some stuff going on. Just landed a big deal.]

Natalie smiled as she replied: [Got it. Stay safe out there.]

Valerie: [I will. You stay safe too.]

Natalie put her phone down, pulled up the covers, and closed her eyes to rest. It was a dreamless sleep. Ever since Natalie returned here, she had been sleeping soundly. It turned out that she didn’t need to stay up waiting for Easton to come home late. She could get a good night’s sleep without becoming a worn-out housewife like before.

Plus, she had enough time in the morning to work out. She could also have breakfast with her family, and even make breakfast together. A kind heart made every day a good day. Feeling refreshed, Natalie headed out for some exercise.

An hour later, she came back to join her grandpa for breakfast. After breakfast, James headed to the office, while Lambert went to the park to play chess.

Natalie printed out the proposal and went to meet Maurice. She made an appointment to have lunch with Maurice. It was mainly to show Maurice her collaboration proposal. She called Carl to join her and waited for him downstairs at the restaurant.

After two minutes, Carl arrived. He was very handsome with a business tycoon vibe, but his features were gentle, and his smile was soothing. He had a high nose and his hair naturally fell over his forehead, partially covering his blue, narrow eyes. His long and thick eyelashes curled upwards, and his eyes held both indifference and allure.

Natalie looked at him, smiling brightly. “Carl, I haven’t seen you in six months. Have you gotten taller?” she asked.

Carl chuckled softly. “Sis, you’re joking, right? At my age, I can’t get taller. I’ve just lost some weight.”

Natalie noticed he had lost weight. “It seems like work has been keeping you busy lately. Now that I’m back, I can help lighten your workload.”

Carl looked at her smiling eyes and teased. “Sis, are you really done reminiscing about the Garcia family and ready to focus on your career?” He hoped she would move on, realizing Easton wasn’t the right person for her.

Natalie beamed with a radiant smile. “Yes! No more looking back. Come on, let’s go meet Mr. Chambers.”

The two of them walked in and saw Jennifer and her best friend, Jasmine. She was also the fiancée of Jason, the eldest of the Simpson family. They also spotted Natalie.

Jennifer walked over to Natalie with a smile. Seeing Carl, who was handsome and gentle, at her side stirred a tinge of envy in her heart. Natalie seemed to have it all. She walked over and said mockingly. “Oh, Natalie! It was Murray yesterday. Who’s this today?”
