Chapter 46
Natalie looked at Jenniferโs innocent act with nothing but disgust. โAre you calling me a bully, Jennifer? Do you believe in karma? Everything youโve done to me will come back to you.โ
Jennifer was stunned; Natalie had never defended herself before.
Natalie turned to Easton. โEaston, Iโve let you two be together. Thereโs no need for you and Jennifer to keep pushing me around like this.โ
Easton frowned, recalling how heโd misunderstood her before. His gaze darkened. โNatalie, the last two times, we did misunderstand you. It was ourโฆโ
Natalie cut him off with a cold laugh. โDonโt apologize, Easton. You donโt deserve to. What you owe me is more than your life could repay. The Simpson family and the Garcia family have wronged me far too many times over the past couple of years. What you owe me, you canโt repay, so donโt bother with apologies.โ
Eastonโs gaze turned even darker. โNatalie, do you have to make such a scene?โ
โShut up! Why do you always say Iโm causing a scene? What the hell is wrong with your eyes and ears? Did you see me bullying Jennifer just now?โ Natalie shouted. โShe faked her own kidnapping and framed me, and you forgave her, saying she was just immature. But Iโve done nothing wrong, and all of you still attack me, demanding I do this and that. Get lost. Say one more word, and I might just hit you!โ Natalie was furious; she wouldnโt hold back anymore. Around these people, she was ready to unleash everything.
Easton was also angry. His gaze was ice-cold. โNatalie, youโre utterly vulgar.โ
Natalie laughed, unbothered by becoming vulgar. It was her meekness in the past that had led to her being bullied by them.
โThatโs right, Iโm vulgar. Your Jennifer is gentle and kind, so go on and cherish her. But why do you have to keep crossing me?โ Natalie continued, โI even helped you tonight without asking anything in return.โ
She gave a chilling smile, then turned to Maurice. โMr. Chambers, letโs go. Thereโs no point arguing with dogs. After all, weโre not the same kind. And Iโm starving.โ
Mauriceโs shoulder shook with silent laughter at her sharp tongue. Without sparing a glance at Easton or Jenniferโhe could already imagine their dark expressionsโhe led Natalie away for dinner.
Jennifer trembled with rage, realizing Natalie had truly changedโshe was no longer easy to bully.
Easton watched as Natalie and Maurice walked away, laughing and talking, a fire simmering in his chest.
Seeing his anger, Jennifer feared he might have taken Natalieโs words to heart. โEaston, with Natalie acting like this, why havenโt you divorced her yet?โ
Easton looked at her intently. โWhy?โ
Jennifer paused, confused. โEaston, what do you mean?โ
He stared at her. โWhy did you frame Natalie?โ
Jennifer froze; he had never asked her that before.
โWhy?โ Jennifer forced a faint smile. โBack then, your mother forced me to leave. You know how relentless she wasโI couldnโt dare stay. When you had your accident, I wanted to stay and care for you, but my father insisted on marrying Natalie to you. Iโm just an adopted daughter, Easton; no one understands my position better than you,โ she said.
Jennifer began to cry softly, appearing utterly wronged.
She was secretly relieved that sheโd managed to drive that woman insane and have her confined in a mental institution.
Jennifer wouldnโt allow anyone to stand in the way of getting what she wantedโshe had to marry Easton.
She had no intention of going back to that other man. She had realized that only Easton truly cared for her.
Thinking of his motherโs temper, Easton could only sigh. โLetโs go. Iโll have Xavier take you home.โ
Without waiting for Jennifer to respond, Easton strode out.
