Chapter 43
Jennifer was stunned. She had spent two years in Ardonia and could speak basic Ardonian, and her pronunciation was excellent.
She repeated what she had just said, but Roger still looked confused.
Roger then added, โIโm not feeling well. I need a doctor.โ
Mistakenly assuming he had understood her, Jennifer grabbed Rogerโs hand and smiled brightly. โMr. Schneider, hello! Itโs an honor to meet you!โ
Roger could understand those words, and his face darkened, brows furrowing in anger.
Natalie nearly burst out laughing at Jenniferโs misunderstanding. She knew Roger had a short temper, and Jennifer was about to get a taste of it.
Suddenly, Roger erupted, pushing Jenniferโs hand away. โIf you donโt understand me, could you just move aside? And if youโre not right in the head, please go see a neurologist.โ
โAh!โ Jennifer stumbled backward, landing in Eastonโs arms.
Natalie couldnโt hold back her chuckle any longer. Jennifer shot her a dark glare, while Easton gave Natalie a warning look, signaling her to avoid trouble.
Fuming, Roger turned to Maurice, the only person he knew in the room. โI need someone who actually understands me to assist,โ he grumbled.
Maurice didnโt understand him but looked to Natalie for help, trusting her.
Smiling, Natalie stepped forward. โMy apologies, Mr. Schneider. This young lady isnโt with us. If youโre feeling unwell, I can helpโIโm a doctor.โ
Natalieโs fluent Ardonian took Jennifer by surprise. She had no idea how Natalie, who hadnโt even finished high school, could speak a foreign language.
Remembering her earlier โadviceโ to Natalie, Jenniferโs face flushed with embarrassment.
Eastonโs eyes widened; he hadnโt expected Natalie to speak Ardonian, either.
Roger breathed a sigh of relief, a faint smile appearing on his face. Finally, there was someone who understood him.
Heโd arrived in a rush, bringing only his assistant along, but the assistant had fallen ill.
This partnership was crucial, and he liked Mauriceโyoung and accomplishedโas a potential business partner. He hoped to finalize the deal and return home as soon as possible.
โThank you, young lady. Youโre truly beautiful!โ Roger praised warmly.
Natalie felt a little embarrassed by the compliment. โThank you, Mr. Schneider, thatโs very kind of you.โ
Roger was delighted with Natalieโs polite manner and smiled broadly at her. โYouโre such a warm-hearted kid.โ
Natalie knelt to check Rogerโs pulse and found signs of weak digestion and high blood pressure. Suddenly, she looked at him in surprise. โMr. Schneider, do you have a malignant tumor in your brain?โ
Rogerโs gray-blue eyes widened in astonishment. โYoung lady, how did you see that? Just from checking my pulse? Your traditional medicine here is truly remarkable!โ
