Natalie replied, “Nope, Luna sweetie, I’m happy because Jennifer is about to get what she deserves.”

Luna’s eyes were filled with hatred. She said, “That’s true. Natalie, check out the news. Ms. Tompson has already changed her four sons’ last name to Tompson and announced it publicly.”

Natalie tapped her phone, and the news popped up. She saw Wendy’s press release clearly explaining how Nick cheated on her and abandoned her after she fell into debt.

Wendy also posted a recording online of Brenda calling Wendy’s four sons useless. In the recording, Brenda announced that she was cutting ties with her four grandsons.

After hearing all this, Natalie wasn’t happy; instead, she felt sad. They were family, yet they schemed against each other.

On the other hand, Luna was delighted. She said, “Natalie, it’s good that your records stayed in the Shawn family. Otherwise, you’d have the last name Tompson, too.”

The mention of this puzzled Natalie. She said, “Yeah! Grandpa allowed me to go back to the Simpson family, but he insisted my surname remain Shawn, only Shawn.”

Back then, Lambert was firm that Natalie couldn’t have the last name Simpson. So, Natalie kept her records where they were.

Living another life, Natalie still didn’t understand why Lambert was so stubborn. She thought, ‘Maybe Grandpa also realized how shameless the Simpsons could be.’ She closed her eyes.

When they reached the office building, Natalie didn’t go upstairs to find Carl but asked him to come talk in the car because it was freezing outside.

Carl came down holding two roasted sweet potatoes, giving one each to Natalie and Luna.

Natalie looked at the sweet potatoes Carl handed over. The sweet and pleasant aroma made her mouth water.

Carl said, “Natalie, those roasted sweet potatoes from that grandma are so tasty. They’re really soft and mushy.”

Natalie looked at Carl with a beaming smile. She said, “Carl, you truly understand us women. Roasted sweet potatoes are the most comforting treat in the winter.” She took a bite of the sweet potato. It was genuinely sweet.

Luna loved eating them, too; anything sweet and fragrant was her favorite.

Carl showed Natalie the design plans. After reviewing, Natalie was in awe. She said, “Carl, your time studying abroad really paid off. This design is fantastic.

“However, we’ll need a road to each pool for the hot springs, and the privacy around them must be well planned.

“Move all the restrooms to the back and plant cherry and apple trees on the land behind them. We can attract more visitors by offering cherry picking in the summer and apple picking in the fall.

“The winter bath locations aren’t well planned. There’s a slope in that area. Let’s move them back a bit. We’ll build a wall about a dozen meters from the hotel and plant decorative trees for safety and looks.”

Carl noted everything down.

Natalie handed back the design and added, “Since the design plan is ready, after the New Year, we should find someone to survey the site and get technical assessments. Then we can start developing slowly.”

Seeing Natalie satisfied with the design, Carl smiled smugly and said, “Alright, Natalie. Leave the rest to me.”

Natalie felt reassured when Carl got to work. She said, “Great! Get to work quickly.” Having gotten that off her mind, she was in a happy mood.

Carl left happily.

After eating a baked sweet potato, Natalie asked Luna to drive her back to the office. She was currently in charge of the clothing design section and needed to do her job responsibly.

The profits from Maurice kept coming in steadily, and the sales of her designs in Easton’s company were doing well, too. Free from those romantic thoughts, Natalie felt her career flying high.

Seeing Natalie was so happy and seemed a bit overwhelmed, Luna chuckled and said, “Natalie, you’re in a good mood today.”

Natalie raised an eyebrow. Her smile broadened as she said, “Honestly, I’d be even happier if Easton and Jennifer weren’t around to mess up my mood.”

She thought, ‘Nick might blow up if he saw Wendy’s announcement. It is like trampling all over Nick’s pride.’

Learning how Wendy handled things, Nick was genuinely furious. He went right up to Wendy on the street and couldn’t help yelling at her.

By a twist of fate, Natalie happened to see the entire scene.

As Natalie passed the mall, she thought about buying a pair of gloves. It was so cold, and the icy wind made her hands ache. She got out of the car and saw Nick just bumping into Wendy.

Nick looked exhausted. His bloodshot eyes glared at Wendy as he shouted, “Wendy, you embarrassed me last night, and now you’re giving the four kids your last name. They’re my kids too. What right do you have…”

Wendy interrupted him coolly, “Nick, you cut ties with my four sons long ago. Are you dreaming that the kids are yours now?

“You’ve got your child with that Camellia, and you dismiss the child and daughter I had for you. Didn’t I already let you have your way?

“Was the chaos last night my doing? Your mistress and your daughter caused that scene themselves. You’re disgusting, being with someone like Camellia and still sharing a bed with me.

“Now I have to go to the hospital today to get checked – it’s just so nauseating, really revolting.”

Nick looked embarrassed and was shaking with anger. He found Wendy looking unfazed. Even though her company was gone, she seemed more relaxed than before. It was clear from her expression that she was doing well.

Nick felt uncomfortable. He thought, ‘Isn’t Wendy supposed to be struggling after the divorce? Isn’t she supposed to look all worn out? Why am I the one who looks exhausted instead?’

He took a deep breath, regretting his decisions that ruined his life. He said, “Wendy, I was wrong. Maybe we can get back together. That woman Camellia, she’s just a liar. I was fooled by her before.”

Nick found it hard to swallow his pride. He could have countless women, but his woman could only have him. Yet Camellia cheated on him.

Wendy frowned and gave Nick a cold, disdainful look. She used to pamper him, turning him into a spoiled man, living a life where he never had to lift a finger.

She remarked inside, ‘It’s only been a few days, and he’s already regretting it. His so-called true love is such a shame.’

She laughed and said mockingly, “Nick, isn’t this the result you planned for decades? And now, you can’t handle it after just a few days. You want to remarry me, but there’s still a 150 million debt. Are you going to pay it back?”

Nick choked and asked, “Didn’t you say it was paid off?”

Wendy said, “Someone helped me pay it off, but now I owe that person. If you want to get back together, help me pay back that 150 million.”

Nick was thrilled. He said, “Wendy, I knew you were the best. I miss the fish and the soup you made. They’re the best!”

After the divorce, Nick often didn’t even get a proper hot meal. Camellia was very lazy, sleeping until after 10 AM every day. He couldn’t get breakfast at home, so he had to go out and buy it.

Camellia’s gentle and graceful demeanor was just a show in front of Nick, and it only took a few days for it to fall apart. Nick begged, “Wendy, I was wrong. Jennifer is just an ungrateful person. She’s been threatening me. Can we get back together?”
