Chapter 377
Murray shook his head and said, โHe was wearing a black coat and standing with his back to me. I couldnโt remember who he was in the dream, and Jennifer never mentioned him.โ
Natalieโs eyes were filled with deep disappointment.
Murray was equally troubled, wanting to remember more, but he just couldnโt.
Natalie smiled and said, โThen stop worrying. Youโll see him again. This time, everything can start over, so donโt just focus on revenge. Work hard and make the company stronger.
โOnly by being strong can we overcome any difficulty. Weโll level up and strive to become world billionaires.โ Natalie looked at Murray with a bright smile, thinking, โI have so many tasks ahead.โ
Murray sniffled a bit and said, โAlright! Letโs go for it!โ
Seeing his childlike behavior, Natalie chuckled.
Emmaโs eyes flickered. She breathed a sigh of relief, thinking, โMurray has finally dodged a bullet.โ She spoke lovingly, โCome on, letโs go have breakfast.โ
Natalie helped Emma up, and together, they went to the kitchen.
The breakfast was sumptuous. Natalie and Murray chatted as they ate, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere. Emma was very relaxed.
After breakfast, Murray went to the company.
Natalie needed to return home for a while. She glanced at the time; it was still early. The snow had stopped the previous night, and the morning sunlight was a bit blinding, so she drove slowly.
After leaving the Spencer familyโs gated community, a person suddenly dashed in front of her car and fell as she turned a corner. Natalie slammed on the brakes.
Her eyes widened in shock. She thought, โWhat just happened? Did I hit someone? No, the person jumped out suddenly. Itโs a scam.โ
Natalie quickly opened the car door and got out. She found Maris covered in blood.
Maris said, โHelpโฆ help meโฆโ
Natalie was shocked. She asked, โMrs. Wayne, what happened to you?โ She looked at the nearby villa, thinking, โDid she climb out from the basement?โ
Marisโs whole body was icy and turning purple.
Natalie used all her strength to help Maris up, half dragging and half pulling her into the car. Then she got into the driverโs seat and turned the heater to the maximum.
Maris had already fainted.
Natalie drove quickly to the hospital, using Bluetooth to call Chris.
Chris asked with a smile, โHey, Natalie, itโs early morning. Do you want to join me for breakfast?โ
Natalie said, โChris, Iโll have breakfast with you next time. I have an emergency patient right now, and I need your help to treat her confidentially.โ
Chris asked, โConfidential treatment? Girl, where did you find this patient?โ
Natalie hesitated for a moment and said, โI picked her up on the road.โ
Chris replied, โYouโre a true doctor with luck on your side.โ
Natalie was speechless. She said, โChris, you get ready. Iโll get there as fast as I can.โ
Chris reminded her, โNo, itโs not safe to drive fast in this snowy weather. Take it easy. As long as that person is still breathing, we can save them, but you need to be careful for your own safety.โ
Natalie chuckled and said, โSure!โ
She glanced at Maris in the back, thinking, โAfter the news about Camellia came out last night, she ended up in this situation. Is it Jennifer or Colin? The villa just now doesnโt belong to the Wayne family, why was she there?โ
Natalie turned on the seat heater, looking worriedly at Marisโs legs. She said, โMrs. Wayne, hang in there. Weโre almost at the hospital.โ
However, Maris had already passed out and couldnโt hear anything.
Forty minutes later, Natalie drove into the hospitalโs underground parking. Chris had been waiting there for some time. Because it was a confidential treatment, he only brought his assistant.
โChris,โ Natalie said as she parked the car and got out.
Seeing Natalie anxious, Chris reassured her, โDonโt worry, Iโm here.โ He and his assistant went over to help Maris out of the car and placed her onto a stretcher.
The three of them quickly pushed Maris to the examination room.
At 11 a.m., Easton finished his morning meeting and checked the time, then his phone. Natalie hadnโt called him.
Before she left, even when they had arguments, Natalie would always remind him to eat. Knowing he had stomach issues in winter, sheโd make soup for him in advance, waiting for him to come home to eat.
He opened his phone and looked at his message thread with Natalie, which hadnโt been updated in nine months. Most of the messages were from Natalie, and he rarely replied or just sent a brief Okay.
Frustrated, Easton tossed his phone aside. He thought, โIs that how I treated Natalie before?โ
There were millions of men out there. Even without him, plenty would want to treat Natalie well. She was beautiful and talented. Plenty of guys would be happy to stay for her if she wanted.
But in his life, Natalie was the only one willing to stay with him. Yet last night, Natalie told him her love was a mistake made out of youthful impulse, ignoring advice.
Her affection seemed incredibly precious because she didnโt heed the advice and went forward without hesitation.
Easton had thought that since Natalie had moved back in, they could return to the way things were. But the reality was different from what he had expected.
Easton shut his eyes, hiding the emotions lingering beneath. He thought, โBut there seems to be some connection between Natalie and Murray!โ
Easton opened his eyes. He glanced at the door and said in a low voice, โCome in.โ
Xavier walked in and said, โMr. Garcia, Ms. Simpson is here and insists on seeing you.โ
Easton was irritated. He said, โTell her to leave!โ
Wesley said as he walked in with a playful grin, โEaston, youโve changed. Who is Jennifer? The woman you loved the most, how could you tell her to go?โ
Standing under the lights, wearing a white coat, Wesley looked exceptionally classy, with well-defined features and a commanding presence.
Easton knitted his brows and asked, โWhy are you here?โ
Wesley said, โJust came to see you. Recently, there has been quite a commotion among several elite families in Shagrity, even your ex-wifeโฆโ
Easton said, โWesley, sheโs not my ex-wife. Sheโs still my wife.โ
Wesley was amused by Eastonโs words. Noticing Eastonโs annoyance, he sarcastically said, โWhen I said Natalie was your wife, you were always so cold about it, saying sheโs not your wife, the one you want to marry is Jennifer.โ
Easton shuddered violently. He suddenly stood up, unable to believe such words came from him. He said, โWesley, stop faking and talking nonsense; I never said anything like that.โ
Wesley shook his head and said, โYou did say it. You just donโt remember. After Jennifer left, when you were drinking with us, you said those words. Havenโt you heard that a drunk heart speaks a sober mind?โ
Easton clenched his hands tightly, thinking, โDid I really say that? Did I have feelings for Jennifer?โ
Looking back now, Easton realized that there were no feelings; Jenniferโs push-and-pull actions led to his illusions. Xavier had once reminded him, it was the unattainable that seemed most appealing.
Actually, Jennifer also knew he didnโt love her. And she didnโt love him either; what Jennifer loved was the 1.5 million he gave her every month.
Easton repaid the wrong favor. He thought with regret, โWhat have I done for the person who saved my life?โ
Easton asked Wesley coldly, โDid you need something from me?โ
