Chapter 346

As soon as Camellia saw the video, fear struck her. She couldn’t let Nick see it. If he found out about her cheating, her life would be over. Nick, once stubborn, was much fiercer than a bull. They had only received their marriage certificate ten days ago, and she had just started enjoying being Mrs. Simpson.

Camellia snapped, “Wendy, are you trying to frame me?”

Unable to grab the phone from Wendy, who protected it, Camellia lunged but missed completely. Meanwhile, Nick had already viewed videos of Colin with Camellia – intimate moments of them together, including clips of them feeding each other, plus footage of them entering and leaving hotels and clubs. The visual proof burned his eyes. Camellia had clearly betrayed him.

Nick thought to himself, ‘How could she? I have walked on eggshells for her sake!’

Desperate, Camellia shook her head. “Nick, you can’t watch that! Those videos are fake; Wendy set this up to trap me!”

She had planned to invite Nick to lunch on this snowy day – wanting to avoid cooking. But when she saw Nick, he was preoccupied. She learned that Wendy was here to find Natalie. Thinking about how she lived like a rat for years, Camellia realized Nick and Wendy were divorced now. This time, Camellia was determined to show off her success to Wendy and let out her long-held frustration. But before she could say anything, Wendy’s video shocked her.

As Camellia glared at Wendy, her hatred pierced her heart, making her tremble slightly. Even in a simple down jacket, Wendy’s natural grace stood out. Jealousy coursed through Camellia, turning into arrogance as she said, “Nick and I have been together a long time. Wendy, you’re a complete idiot! We will be happy while you rot away in that old place, waiting to die. Wendy, I have won!”

Though Camellia’s laughter sounded bold, it lacked real conviction; she was winning, but it felt like a hollow victory. She hadn’t gained everything Wendy had, leaving her feeling incomplete. She still hadn’t acquired the properties she wanted badly.

Wendy put away her phone and sneered. “Nick, since marrying you, I bore five children for you out of love, yet you kept a mistress?"

“Nick, your conscience must have been eaten by dogs! The Simpson family thrives on my hard work; how many of your relatives have I funded?”

“I have been honest with you, and yet you’ve reduced me to nothing, cruelly leaving me and our kids. Nick, I truly misjudged you.”

Wendy’s heart had grown numb over time, but mentioning the past still caused her pain. Nick knew his mistakes, but he had enjoyed years of comfort, leaving their divorce with nothing valuable – his small company barely made enough for a party.

Now, Nick found himself in chaos; each night felt like torture. Just the thought of it filled him with anger, and in frustration, he yelled, “Wendy, this is all your fault! Your mismanagement has wasted everything! Must I keep suffering with you in my old age?"

“All we have today is due to your failings. If you had managed your wealth better, would I have ever left you?”

Wendy was furious at his shamelessness. In the past, out of love, Wendy never saw Nick critically. His small mistakes had never truly upset her. But her inability to examine him allowed many problems to grow unnoticed.

Wendy’s icy gaze turned sharp and commanding as she confronted him. “So, you pursued me only for my money from the start."

“You pretended to be sophisticated. I sacrificed my family for your fragile pride, living alone with you in sadness. I’ve given you so much, and you deceived me all along, didn’t you?”

The pain surged in her heart; just recently, on a visit to her parents, she confided about her decision to divorce. They had silently supported her. Her dad said, “Wendy, it’s never too late to see the truth. Our family has plenty of wealth; you don’t need to work. Now it’s your time to live freely. After you settle your affairs, come visit us.” Her parents had always been her support.

With newfound strength, Wendy planned everything carefully. Whenever she needed money, her dad helped. In fact, she never used that money. When it was time to pay back, she returned the full amount exactly as it was. But to maintain the illusion of being broke and convince Jennifer and Nick of her downfall, she had to perform perfectly. Jennifer had sent investigators to confirm her claims, completely believing in Wendy’s apparent misfortune.

Seeing her distress, Nick forced a pained smile. “Wendy, we’ve reached this point; whatever I say is in vain.” He grabbed Camellia’s hand and left.

Wendy stood in the snowstorm, her hair blowing in the wind, coldly watching them walk away. A surge of satisfaction swept through Wendy; she thought Nick wouldn’t tolerate cheating. The four of them wouldn’t be a happy family; she simply wouldn’t allow it. They wouldn’t even enjoy lunch; Wendy expected a furious argument to break out when they returned home.

As she watched them drive away, Wendy got in her car, determined not to miss the unfolding drama. Luna noticed her leave, and after settling into her vehicle, she called Natalie.

“Hello! Luna,” Natalie greeted.

Excitedly, Luna replied, “I can’t wait for the spectacle! I know today has been tough for you, mainly because of the family. I’m heading out to capture their drama; it’ll cheer you up!”

"Instead of working hard you run off for fun. What ever could possibly be worth such excitement?”
