Chapter 340
Natalie stood in shock, staring at Easton across the table. His smile was sly and cunning.
Putting her phone down, Natalie was filled with rage. โEaston, you scoundrel! Did you really plot against me? How could you be so cruel? I let you off the hook, so why canโt you do the same for me?โ
With a casual look, Easton replied, โNatalie, you were set on your decision to divorce; I had no choice but to act this way.โ
โWasnโt divorce what you wanted? Do you not remember how many divorce papers you gave me before?โ Natalie was furious, shocked by his shamelessness. She felt like her heart might explode from anger.
She was also angry at her own ignorance.
Easton raised an eyebrow, a teasing grin on his lips. โNatalie, you are charming; heaven sent you to me, and I donโt plan to let you go.โ
Natalie stared at him, confused. โDid his words hint at flirting? Am I overthinking?โ
โClearly, your love for Jennifer is not as deep as you claim! Now I see it; you love only yourself!โ Natalie asserted.
She added, โIf you dare come to my place again, I will call Jennifer. You know she can be persistentโฆโ
โNatalie, donโt challenge my boundaries; the consequences will be too much for you. I wonโt entertain options; I make decisions, and my choice is to never divorce.โ Easton stepped closer, looming over her.
Natalie nervously glanced back at the chair, feeling the pressure he emitted was almost tangible.
Easton thought her anxious face was cute, hiding his own desires while giving her a soft smile. โNatalie, behave.โ
He leaned down quickly, kissing her forehead, making her heart race.
In that moment, she felt like she had been bitten by a dog. She forcefully pushed Easton away, glaring at him. โGet away! Donโt touch me. After sharing a bed with Jennifer, you still dare to disgust me? Easton, you are vile.โ
Fuming, Natalie rubbed her forehead. โIโm going to find some alcohol.โ
Those words felt insulting, Eastonโs anger flared instantly; he grabbed her hand, looking deeply into her eyes and growling, โNatalie, do you really hate me?โ
โOf course! Havenโt I always shown my disdain for you? You think everyone is as promiscuous as you and Jennifer?โ
Easton didnโt understand her meaning. Without thinking, he pulled Natalie into his arms and kissed her, silencing her.
At that moment, Natalie stopped struggling, feeling lost, her eyes wide in shock.
As Easton became lost in the kiss, wanting more, Natalie bit his lip hard.
โAh!โ Easton stumbled back, grimacing from the pain.
He licked the bleeding wound on his lip, looking oddly attractive.
The red mark on his lips gave him a strange beauty. His gaze was wild, as if the pain brought him pleasure and a dangerous charm.
Natalie stared at him, captivated, her heart racing wildly as if something was galloping in her chest, each beat quickening her breath.
She couldnโt look away from him, even for a second.
Eastonโs charm was deadly.
Seeing her entranced, Easton chuckled, amused. โWhat a little wildcat you are; that did sting. Iโll come by tonight, and you will tend to my wound. If you refuse to open the door, Iโll tell everyone you are my wife.โ
Natalie blinked in disbelief. โDid Easton really think that would work?โ
โFine! If youโre okay with having Jennifer as your mistress, shout it to the world,โ Natalie said, defiant.
Easton, watching her fiery reaction, found her even more attractive when she was angry.
After putting on his coat gracefully, he said, โWinter styles have sold well. Take some time to rest and heal. Then we can prepare for spring.โ
Natalie, furious, shot back, โI will not design anything for you!โ
Easton interrupted her, his gaze intense. โNatalie, Iโve warned you not to cross my lines. My time is too valuable; I need to go to the office.โ
He took a few steps but then turned back to her. โYou have no right to refuse me. My choices wonโt change for anyone. The card on the table is mine; buy what you want.โ
Easton enjoyed the feeling of control he had, as it made him feel secure.
Natalie watched him leave, unable to say anything.
Fuming, she shouted, โEaston, you are infuriating! How dare you trick me?โ
Natalieโs face burned with anger, her heart racing as she grabbed her phone to call Valerie.
As soon as the call connected, tears streamed down her cheeks.
โWhy are you crying, Natalie?โ Valerie asked with concern.
โValerie, that scoundrel Easton has deceived me.โ
Sitting on the floor, Natalie cried, feeling completely wronged. Despite her efforts to leave Easton, she felt caught.
โWell, I suppose this is your fate. Do you remember what I told you before? You two were meant to be together.โ
Natalie replied, โValerie, I refuse to accept this! You must find a way to cut our connection. I would rather be single forever than marry him. Iโm tired of his hypocrisy.โ
Valerie asked firmly, โNatalie, itโs too late for that; things have changed. What happened while I was away?โ
โNothing happened. I just returned from visiting Zoe; she had a healthy baby boy.โ
Valerie tried to comfort her. โItโs just a contract issue. Worst case, youโll work for him for another three years.โ
Frustrated, Natalie replied, โValerie, I really donโt want anything to do with him. Itโs so draining, unbearably so. Eastonโs heart is like stone; I canโt warm him because it belongs to Jennifer. Iโve given up.โ
โNatalie, let things flow naturally and follow your heart. Iโll return next week to be with you; my tasks here are almost done.โ
Hearing that Valerie was coming back thrilled Natalie. โValerie, youโre not tricking me, are you? You will really come back next weekend?โ
