Chapter 331

Natalie turned around to face him. Earlier, when she saw him from afar, she hadn’t gotten a clear look at his face, but now, up close, she saw how much weight he had lost.

If she hadn’t been transported back, seeing Jason like this would have made her heart ache.

“Is there something you need, Mr. Simpson?” Natalie’s tone was distant.

Jason felt a sharp pain in his heart as he thought, ‘She no longer sees me as her brother.’

He said, “Natalie, about that night with Zoe… I wronged you both. I’m sorry! I didn’t realize it was all orchestrated by Jennifer and Jasmine.”

Natalie shook her head. “No need to apologize. Your apology is worthless. Besides, you’re all rushing toward your own demise. Zoe and I are very satisfied with this outcome.”

“Natalie, I know it’s too late to say anything now. Does this mean you’ll never forgive me?”

“That’s correct. I’ll never forgive you or Easton. So from now on, if we meet, pretend you don’t know me,” Natalie said. She would never forget what they had done to her for Jennifer’s sake. With that, she started to leave. Jason quickly said, “Natalie, how are Zoe and the child?”

Natalie abruptly turned back, glaring at him, her anger flaring. “Jason Simpson, stay away from Zoe! In a few years, she’ll meet a man who loves her even more, and I won’t let you ruin her happiness.”

She stormed off into the wind and snow, her anger palpable.

Jason opened his mouth to speak, but the cold wind filled it instead, stinging his face. He wanted to say he no longer had the right to see Zoe.

But the thought of Zoe marrying someone else with his child made his heart ache. He was deeply disappointed in himself for having made such a mess of his life.

Austin said, “Alright, let’s go. You’ve lost everything. Not bothering her is the one thing you can still do for her.”

Jason gave a bitter laugh. “Austin, don’t I deserve this?”

“You do. But there’s nothing more valuable than a reformed soul. You need to work hard and get back on your feet. When you turn your life around, perhaps the mother of your child might look your way again,” said Austin.

He had been caring for Jason for two months now and had grown somewhat fond of him.

Jason stared into the swirling snow, his eyes flickered with determination. He silently vowed to pick himself up.

Jasmine’s scandal caused a major uproar online. When Jennifer got home, she saw the trending topics.

She thought to herself, ‘Jasmine has no option but to go to prison. Even though Jason has learned the truth, he is nothing more than a paper tiger now.’

With another obstacle removed, Jennifer was elated, and to celebrate, she popped open a beer.

After leaving Wendy’s house, she now lived in an apartment Easton had bought for her.

Wendy’s company was already hers. Next on the list were the Wayne family and the Spencer family.

Murray had narrowly escaped last time, and Maxwell had been brought down. Next time, Murray wouldn’t be so lucky.

Holding her glass, Jennifer stepped onto the balcony, her bare feet sinking into the soft carpet. With a cheerful smile, she reached for her phone and dialed a familiar number.

“Jennifer, you miss me?” A lazy voice came from the other end.

Jennifer chuckled, “Of course. But all these years, I’m always the one calling you. You never reach out first.”

“You know our relationship can’t be exposed. If it is, Easton will stop supporting you, and my plans will fail.”

“I’ve already taken over Wendy’s company. Next up is the Wayne family. I’m slowly paving the way for you in the domestic market.”

“Honey, you are amazing. Once you win Easton’s heart and tear up that agreement, I’ll go back. Find a time to hypnotize him to make him forget Natalie. He’s already beyond your control. We can’t wait any longer.”

Jennifer frowned. “Ever since Natalie stirred up that mess, Easton has learned the truth and has been distant with me. Even the monthly 1.5 million dollars has been cut off.”

The man snorted. “I warned you that putting on the show would lead to trouble, but you wouldn’t listen. Now that Easton knows the truth and sees through your ambitions, we can’t risk him discovering my involvement. Otherwise, we’re finished.”

Jennifer was equally furious. She hadn’t expected Natalie to strike back so suddenly. “I know. I’ll handle things from here.”

Jennifer didn’t hear the words she longed for and hung up the phone in anger. She loved the man, but he only seemed to be using her.

Taking a deep breath, she looked out at the blizzard. The harsh glare stung her eyes, and a cold draft occasionally seeped through the window, making her frown slightly. She returned to the living room and sat down, staring blankly at the flowers not far away.

She had gotten what she wanted, but for some reason, she still felt so terrible. Next, she would have to face the revenge of Wendy and Natalie.

Although Natalie had said she’d drag her into hell, she was still young and unlikely to act recklessly, so it was Easton’s grandparents who needed to be eliminated quickly.

Since William couldn’t bring himself to act against his parents, Jennifer decided she would.

Natalie stayed on the island for ten days before returning home. After resting for a day, she was full of energy.

Jacob sent her messages saying his grandmother had been discharged from the hospital and loved her new house. She replied to all his messages one by one.

Jasmine’s situation had settled down. Even in the face of death, Jasmine wouldn’t truly repent. For Natalie, the Jasmine incident was nothing more than a minor episode.

When Maurice learned Natalie was back, he arranged to meet her near his office for lunch.

Natalie agreed, thinking about a potential collaboration she wanted to discuss with him. She brought along the project proposal for their meeting.

This collaboration involved an AI–assisted diagnostic system she was developing—an ambitious and groundbreaking project.

The tech industry hadn’t seen anything like it yet. Introducing this concept could attract significant interest from investors.

Maurice was trustworthy, highly capable, and wealthy. With him on board, things would be much easier, as Natalie wouldn’t even have to look for outside investors, and just working with him and Chris would ensure success.

This system was something Natalie had worked tirelessly on for the past two years, during late nights after Easton went to bed or when he wasn’t home.

Next, she planned to assemble a core research team with Chris to continue development.

Natalie dressed warmly, wearing a white down jacket and a beige hat. Only her bright, expressive eyes peeked out.

Luna drove over to pick her up. Once Natalie got in the car, Luna immediately asked, “Wendy’s gone bankrupt. Are you happy?”

Natalie smiled lightly. “What’s there to be happy about? It’s not like it’s real bankruptcy.”

“But, Natalie, they haven’t shown a shred of remorse. After everything they did to you, they didn’t even bother to apologize. Now they’re finally paying the price!”

Natalie was amused by Luna’s indignation and replied, “Luna, it’s Jennifer who should ultimately pay the price. Their revenge is my revenge too. Let’s just sit back and enjoy the show.”

Luna still felt unsettled. Thinking about all the suffering Natalie had endured, she couldn’t help but feel enraged. “When do you think Jennifer will realize the company is just an empty shell?”
