Chapter 325

โ€œOkay, Iโ€™ll be careful. Jennifer, Iโ€™m a man of pride. If this gets out, itโ€™ll be so embarrassing. If people found out that I immediately abandoned Wendy the moment she went bankrupt, Iโ€™d be completely disgraced,โ€ Nick said.

He really didnโ€™t want to do this, but if it werenโ€™t for Wendyโ€™s bankruptcy, he honestly couldn't bear to do it.

Wendyโ€™s parents had treated him well.

But Camelliaโ€™s parents, on the other hand, were very materialistic.

Nick felt a deep sense of discomfort in his heart.

Jennifer sneered. โ€œDad, youโ€™re the one who acted shamefully, so why are you worried about what others think?โ€

โ€œYou clearly tricked Wendy into marriage and had so many kids with her. Youโ€™re just making trouble for me. Iโ€™m going to deal with each one of these problems, one by one.โ€

โ€œHey, having many sons isnโ€™t a bad thing, but every single one turned out to be a loser. Iโ€ฆโ€ Nick trailed off, unable to continue.

Although his four children hadnโ€™t accomplished anything grand, they were all pretty good to him. His son with Camellia had always lived abroad.

Every month, all he asked for was money and nothing else. If it werenโ€™t for the fact that the boy was good at business, Nick wouldnโ€™t have given him the hard-earned money he had worked for all his life.

Nick was feeling quite down when his phone rang.

โ€œMr. Garcia, weโ€™ve got bad news. Our company has been sold.โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ Nick was stunned. โ€œHow could it be sold? Iโ€™m still in charge of the company, who would dare sell my company?โ€

โ€œWell, itโ€™s Wendy. Sheโ€™s the legal owner of the company. Apparently, sheโ€™s in heavy debt, and today someone came to buy the company, so she sold it.โ€

โ€œImpossible. Iโ€™m the legal owner, how could it be her?โ€ Nick protested.

โ€œMr. Garcia, donโ€™t you remember? A while ago, you werenโ€™t feeling well and were worried about the companyโ€™s statutory requirements, so you transferred the legal ownership and shares to Ms. Tompson. You personally made that arrangement.โ€

โ€œIโ€ฆ I didnโ€™t! When did I give the company to her?โ€ Nick asked, bewildered.

Nick remembered that there had been a few documents that needed his signature during that time when he wasnโ€™t feeling well and kept having hallucinations.

โ€˜Was it during those days? Did I really give her the company myself?โ€™ Nick wondered.

He was in disbelief and shouted, โ€œNo, this canโ€™t be happening! How could I have given the company Iโ€™ve worked my whole life to build to her?โ€

His face turned red with rage, his forehead bulging with veins, and his eyes widened, full of fury and despair.

โ€œThis has to be some kind of conspiracy. Someone must be behind this. This is a plot!โ€ He swung his arms wildly, his voice almost hoarse.

The people around him were stunned by his outburst, but no one dared to approach him to calm him down.

Jennifer was also shocked by his yelling. She shot him a disdainful glare, clearly embarrassed by his behavior.

Nick was so furious his mouth twisted. โ€œThis is my company! Iโ€™ve poured so much effort and sweat into it to get where it is today. How could I just hand it over?โ€ He continued to rant, his body trembling with agitation.

He suddenly shouted, โ€œI will get to the bottom of this! Iโ€™m going to find out exactly what happened!โ€ He was panting heavily, like an injured beast ready to tear everyone apart.

โ€œMr. Garcia, weโ€™ve already been cleared out. Iโ€™ve hidden the companyโ€™s tax evasion records. If anyone finds out about the tax fraud, the company wonโ€™t be able to cover the damages. Who should I give the records to, you or someone else?โ€

Nick was momentarily stunned.

This is really bad luck, he thought as he gazed out at the snow-covered city, his heart heavy with sorrow. My company is finished.

โ€œSendโ€ฆ send them to me. Donโ€™t let anyone find out,โ€ Nick ordered.

โ€œBut the people who came to buy the company have already found out. They said if we donโ€™t leave, theyโ€™ll report us to the authorities.โ€

Nick froze for a moment. โ€œThen why havenโ€™t you left yet? What are you waiting for? Are you waiting to go to jail? Hurry up and get the records to me, or weโ€™ll both be done for.โ€

โ€œThe company is gone, but we still have a subsidiary. As long as we manage it well, we can become a big company in a few years,โ€ the person on the phone said.

Nick clutched his chest in pain. His mental state had been unstable for a while, and only recently had he started to feel better. But he never imagined that it would be his own actions that would ruin everything.

As he looked around at the growing crowd, Jennifer seemed embarrassed.

In a fit of rage, Nick hung up the phone. His face had turned livid, and he suddenly collapsed into Jenniferโ€™s arms, sobbing uncontrollably.

โ€œJennifer, what should I do? Wendy sold my company, what do I do now? What am I going to do in the future?โ€ Nick cried out.

That company was his pride and joy.

Jennifer was momentarily stunned. She hadnโ€™t expected Wendy to actually pull it off, selling Nickโ€™s company to pay off her debts.

At that moment, Jenniferโ€™s phone rang.

She picked it up irritably. โ€œHello?โ€

โ€œJennifer, itโ€™s Christopher. Ever since your momโ€™s company was pulled from the Lance Group, she told me she needed a loan of 30 million to help with cash flow."

โ€œI only found out last night that your momโ€™s company went bankrupt. When will your family repay that 30 million? Iโ€™ve tried calling your mom, but I canโ€™t get through.โ€

Jennifer was taken aback. โ€˜Has Wendy lost her mind? Why is she borrowing money from everyone?โ€™

โ€œChristopher, I donโ€™t know. My mom divorced my dad to avoid dragging him into her mess. I donโ€™t know where she is,โ€ Jennifer replied.

โ€œAhโ€ฆ So that 30 million is just gone? Well, if your mom canโ€™t pay, thenโ€ฆโ€

โ€œChristopher, how could I possibly pay you back? When I find my mom, I'll ask her about it and how to deal with it,โ€ Jennifer snapped, angrily ending the call.

โ€œHow outrageous! Wendyโ€™s borrowing money everywhere, and new people are calling me asking for repayment. I canโ€™t believe this,โ€ Jennifer fumed. โ€œTheyโ€™ve divorced, and now they expect us to pay? Theyโ€™re dreaming!โ€

Nick, enraged, pulled out his phone to call Wendy.

Meanwhile, to celebrate her divorce, Wendy had invited Maria and Nora out for a meal.

As Wendy entered the private room, she noticed Nickโ€™s call. She smiled faintly. Before, he was so arrogant, now he's regretting things? Is this call because you want to remarry me?

Nick was momentarily speechless.

His hand holding the phone trembled slightly. โ€œWendy, you dream on! I was going to ask you, who told you that you could sell my company?โ€

โ€œAhโ€ฆ Nick, so youโ€™re not calling to remarry me? As for the company, what does it have to do with you? Who told you that company was yours? I sold it to pay off debts. Is that so wrong?โ€ Wendy responded.

โ€œBut how could you sell my company? That company was my lifeโ€™s work!โ€ Nick shouted, his voice filled with anguish, his vision swimming as if he were about to pass out.

Wendy, hearing his pain, allowed a faint smile to curl on her lips.

This is just the beginning. He canโ€™t even handle this. Nick thought he could manipulate me, my children, and my wealth, but heโ€™ll have to endure the retaliation Iโ€™ve carefully planned for him, she wondered.

This year, every step Wendy took was incredibly difficult.

She played it cool, pretending to charm Nick and Jennifer, all to let them lower their guard while she quietly handled the affairs of the company.

With a hint of sadness, Wendy said, โ€œNick, how could you blame me? I was doing this for your own good.โ€

Nick, furiously, shouted back, โ€œWendy, youโ€™re full of crap! How is this for my good?โ€
