Chapter 322

Natalie felt deeply sorry. Apologetically, she spoke up. โ€œSorry, before Mrs. Lestor moved in, the room was occupied by my friend. The wind was too strong over there, so we switched to another available room.โ€

But she hadnโ€™t anticipated that Jasmine would steal a child and extort Zoc.

Upon hearing this, Samuel immediately understood everything.

He responded, โ€œHmm. Itโ€™s alright. Over the past two years, thereโ€™ve been cases of child theft and extortion happening in this hospital. This island is surrounded by water, making it easy to escape. Now that theyโ€™ve stolen my son, we can catch them all in one go. Thanks for telling me this. Go take care of your children, and weโ€™ll leave the rest to the police.โ€

Natalie breathed a sigh of relief. After thanking him, she headed upstairs.

As she turned, a cold glint flickered in her eyes. โ€˜Jasmine, this time, youโ€™ve walked straight into your own trap. This woman brought it upon herself. The man just now didnโ€™t seem like an ordinary man; heโ€™ll surely force her to confess,โ€™ she wondered. Looking ahead at the hospital, Natalie suspected Jasmine might have some people here. It could be a gang operation.

But the police would investigate and uncover the truth. She could now relax and sleep well.

Samuel watched Natalieโ€™s retreating figure and said, โ€œSend someone to keep an eye on them. Check the validity of what she said.โ€

Another officer saluted and quickly left.

When Natalie entered the hospital, she noticed an officer following her inside. She smiled slightly. Samuel didnโ€™t fully believe her, but that was fine. She was telling the truth.

Jasmine couldnโ€™t escape from this island.

Back in her room, Zoe and the baby were sound asleep.

Natalie gently lifted the baby and placed them in her bed before closing her eyes to sleep peacefully.

Meanwhile, Jasmine had finished a bottle of beer when someone knocked on her door. She assumed it was Madison returning.

She quickly opened the door. โ€œAunt Madison, youโ€ฆโ€

Her words trailed off as she saw two unfamiliar men standing outside.

A sense of unease suddenly washed over her. Furrowing her brows, she asked, โ€œWho are you? What are you doing here so late?โ€

Samuel and his team rushed inside, shutting the door behind them.

Without warning, Samuel drew his gun and pointed it at Jasmineโ€™s head, his expression icy. โ€œTell me, where is my son?โ€

Jasmine froze, confused. She stumbled over her words. โ€œWโ€“whatโ€ฆ what son?โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t play dumb. You stole my son and are extorting 3 million dollars. If you donโ€™t talk, Iโ€™ll blow your brains out right here. If my son dies, Iโ€™ll drag you to hell with him.โ€

Jasmine was stunned. โ€œThe child in Zoeโ€™s belly is this manโ€™s, not Jasonโ€™s? This is a disaster. I thought the child was Jasonโ€™s, but itโ€™s not.โ€

โ€œIโ€ฆ I donโ€™t know what youโ€™re talking about,โ€ she said, now desperately denying everything.

โ€œFine. Then go to hell with my son. Madison will follow you to hell as well.โ€ Samuelโ€™s anger flared. This woman looked so sly. When it came to investigations, he always used the right method for the right person.

The gun remained trained on Jasmineโ€™s forehead. โ€œDie.โ€

Jasmine trembled in fear, suddenly collapsing onto the floor.

โ€œAhhโ€ฆ no, no, no, itโ€™s not like that! Iโ€ฆ I didnโ€™t steal your child. If I had stolen your child, why would I still be here? I wouldโ€™ve run away.โ€

Samuel noticed her phone vibrating on the table.

He glanced at one of his team members and nodded for him to answer the call.

โ€œDonโ€™t speak,โ€ Samuel warned.

Jasmine realized it was Madison calling. โ€˜This is it, itโ€™s over,โ€™ she wondered.

The officer picked up the phone, and Madisonโ€™s furious voice immediately came through. โ€œJasmine, youโ€™ve ruined me! What the hell were you thinking? Room 408 is Samuelโ€™s wifeโ€™s, and you dare steal Samuelโ€™s child? What the hell is wrong with you?โ€

Jasmine froze in shock.

She tried to speak, but Samuel leaned in close to her ear and said, โ€œSpeak carefully. If you cooperate, you might get a lighter sentence.โ€

Jasmine knew it was over. Forget about money; now she was facing a long sentence in prison.

โ€œMadison, youโ€ฆ whatโ€™s going on? How could this happenโ€ฆโ€ Jasmine stammered.

โ€œJasmine, youโ€™ve ruined me,โ€ Madison responded.

โ€œWhat about the child?โ€ Jasmine asked.

โ€œIโ€™ll make sure the child is taken care of. But if Samuel finds out that we stole his child, weโ€™re done for,โ€ Madison said.

A murderous glint flashed in Samuelโ€™s eyes, and he gave Jasmine a look, signaling her to ask about the childโ€™s whereabouts. Jasmine understood and asked, โ€œMadison, since itโ€™s Samuelโ€™s son, how can you kill him? You need to return the child, so we might still have a chance to get out of this.โ€

โ€œAre you crazy? It was my boyfriend who took the child! Do you want him to be arrested too?โ€ Madison snapped.

โ€œMadison, your boyfriend is a criminal and a child thief. Heโ€™s done so many bad things on his own. How does that involve us? You need to get him to return the child,โ€ Jasmine retorted.

Hearing this, Jasmine quickly came up with a plan to shift all the blame onto Madisonโ€™s boyfriend.

โ€œJasmine, youโ€™ve ruined me! Didnโ€™t you say your friend was just an ordinary person? You stole the child to get 3 million dollars, but now Samuelโ€™s son is missing, and the whole island is looking for him. If you have him return the child, thatโ€™s basically walking right into the trap!โ€ Madison said.

โ€œMadison, if he doesnโ€™t return the child, weโ€™ll be the ones dead. Whatโ€™s more important to you? Your boyfriend, or our lives? You decide!โ€ Jasmine screamed, desperate to avoid prison.

โ€œJasmine, youโ€™re the one who wanted to steal someone elseโ€™s child. My boyfriend helped, and now you want to send him to prison too? I donโ€™t agree. You figure out a way to return the child. You stole him, not us. If the police ask me, Iโ€™ll say you stole the child,โ€ Madison shouted.

โ€œMadison, you canโ€™t do this to me!โ€ Jasmine yelled. But by then, Madison had already hung up.

Samuel turned to his team and said, โ€œGo arrest Madison. Donโ€™t alert anyone else.โ€

โ€œYes, Samuel, Iโ€™ll send someone immediately,โ€ the officer replied.

Then, the two of them escorted Jasmine to the hospital.

The wind and snow on the island were intense. The strong wind carried snowflakes, swirling and howling through the air, turning the world into a blanket of white.

The biting cold snow stung her face like a thousand needles. Travel became extremely difficult. Jasmine, pregnant and without a coat, felt every step was exhausting. She cried the entire way, each step seemingly draining her strength.

When Madison was arrested, Jasmine was just arriving at the hospital.

Seeing Jasmine in custody, Madison collapsed to the ground.

โ€˜Itโ€™s over. Everything Iโ€™ve done these yearsโ€ฆ itโ€™s all falling apart. If the kidnapping cases from before are linked to me, my life is over,โ€™ Madison thought.

The two were secretly taken to a room, and Samuelโ€™s tall figure walked in, instantly filling the room with an oppressive air. He placed the legal documents in front of Madison, his voice low and hoarse. โ€œRead this. How many years do you think youโ€™ll get?โ€

Madison closed her eyes, remaining silent. As long as she didnโ€™t say anything, refusing to confess, they would relent after 24 hours with no evidence.

Samuel watched her.
