Chapter 316
Sasha was furious.
Ars Simpson, what are you talking about! The way he went out, if I broken and bad, would I give you 30 thousand dollars to marry me? Would I have started a company?
โTo make sure he has some status. Iโve even helped poor family relatives get wealthy. Instead, you mock me like this?
Iโve endured all of this. Now that Iโm suddenly in trouble, is this how you treat me?โ Wendy interrupted her, looking painfully at Sashaโs unpleasant face.
Sashaโs expression was unpleasant. Because of taking money from Wendy, Sasha had always felt inferior to her. She narrowed her eyes. Now that Wendy had nothing left and would have to rely on Nick and Jennifer, Sasha felt like she could hold her head high.
Sasha didnโt even remember that over twenty years ago, her family was dirt poor and had nothing.
If they hadnโt met Wendy, the family would still be living in a tiny two-bedroom apartment, constantly worrying about where their next meal would come from.
With this thought, Sashaโs guilt disappeared and was completely replaced by pride and satisfaction.
โWendy, you canโt put it that way. You married Nick, and that makes us family, so of course you should give me money, right?
โNow that youโre broke, you want to cling to Nick? Dream on! Whoever should pay 350 million dollars, let them pay it, but donโt think you can ruin Nickโs company. Get out right now! And divorce my son immediately.โ
Wendy looked shocked, as if she had just heard something dreadful, staring suddenly at Sasha.
Sasha met her gaze, filled with pain and helplessness, and thought of that debt, hardening her heart.
โI know itโs unfair to you, but weโre old, and Nick is sick. Without the company, where would we get money for his treatment? You need to find a way to repay the debt yourself, and divorce my son immediately,โ Sasha explained.
Wendy stood there silently for a long moment, tears slowly falling. She looked toward Nick with a bitter tone, โNick, can we only share the good times, not the bad ones?โ
Nick hadnโt figured out how to bring up the divorce, and hearing Sasha say it was actually a relief.
He liked Wendy. She was gentle, kind, and understanding, always considering his feelings. Over the years, she never did anything excessive. Yet, he couldnโt bear to leave his childhood sweetheart, Camellia.
He looked guilty. โWendy, Iโm really sorry, but I canโt help it. The huge debt is beyond my ability to repay. If I help you pay it off, what will happen to the kids? What about my parents? My siblings?โ
Hearing his words, Wendy felt her heart ache once more, even though she had already given up on him.
Even though she knew he was unfeeling, seeing his indifferent behavior still left her feeling thoroughly disappointed.
โNick, I am your wife, your partner, your closest person. Am I not as important as the siblings Iโve supported for over ten years?"
Nick looked away, feeling guilty.
Lay's family will give you 80 thousand dollars when you are divorced.
Wendy sat on the ground, seething with anger, her eyes filled with tears she could no longer hold back.
Wendy was like a fish out of water, desperately trying to let go of her pain. No matter how much she struggled, she couldnโt escape the burning pain deep in her heart.
Nick felt a wave of sympathy as he watched this unfold. After more than 20 years of marriage, there was still affection between them.
Nick crouched down, gently supporting Wendy, and comforted her with concern. โWendy, donโt be too sad. Everything will pass.โ
Wendy heard his voice, her eyes blurred with tears, and she looked dazed, as if she had fallen into an endless darkness.
Looking at the man she had spent more than two decades with, and remembering his deceit, Wendy felt her heart burning as if it were surrounded by flames.
Seeing Jenniferโs smug face made her tears fall even harder.
Every cell in her body ached, making her tremble uncontrollably as she sobbed. โNick, how could you do this to me?"
โHey! Itโs not like I had a choice. When a marriage faces trouble, people look out for themselves. We only live once, so letโs keep it simple. Tomorrow, letโs get a divorce.โ His tone was cold.
โWendy sat there, pale and exhausted, unable to move as intense pain spread through every nerve in her body.โ
Just then, her phone rang. Wendy wiped away her tears and answered it. โHello, Anthony.โ
โHey Wendy, I heard you sold the company?โ Anthony said.
โYes, Anthony, the company couldnโt be run anymore and was taken over.โ She put on a brave face, which made Jennifer feel a bit sorry for her.
Wendy has always been a dedicated mom, putting a lot of effort into raising Jennifer from the very start.
But if Wendy knew Jennifer wasnโt her biological daughter, she might not have been so committed.
โWendy, I really feel for your situation, but what can I do? You still owe me 70 million dollars. Can you pay that back?โ he said.
โAnthony, could you give me a bit more time? Once I gather the 350 million dollars for the bank, Iโll pay you back. Donโt worry.
โMy dad has some assets left, which could sell for 150 million dollars. Iโll find a way to get the other 150 million dollars. I promise Iโll make a great comeback.โ
He began. โHey, itโs truly sad. Youโve squandered a billion-dollar fortune into nothing. I need that 70 million dollars back. Since youโre bankrupt, how could you possibly make a comeback? Even if I give you 20 years, itโs impossible.
โIn 20 years, how old will you be? Pay me back those 70 million dollars first. I heard your husbandโs company hasnโt been sold yet, so why not sell it and repay me first? We were partners when we collaborated.
โSince itโs not working out, letโs just part ways. Donโt blame me for not helping. Everyone has it tough.
โI lent you that 70 million dollars for the sake of your father, but now even his building is sold, and your familyโs debts canโt be cleared. Wendy, Iโll give you one more week.โ
Wendy was about to say something, but Anthony had already hung up.
โAnthony, donโt hang up! Anthony, how can my husbandโs company be sold? Heโs depended on me for so long. Selling the company would be the end of him!โ she cried out.
