Chapter 313
Jasmine wanted to discuss Zoeโs pregnancy with Jennifer earlier but didnโt expect Jennifer to be so heartless.
This month, Jasmine only had a few hundred dollars left. Without money, she couldnโt even afford to have a baby. Ever since Jasmine met Jason, her life had been like living in luxury.
Jason showered Jasmine with expensive gifts and so much spending money that she couldnโt use it all. His pampering made her extravagant. Every month, after getting her allowance, Jasmine would go on wild spending sprees at bars. A few hundred dollars a night, even 15,000 dollars wasnโt enough to cover her expenses.
If it werenโt for Jason running into trouble, she could easily spend over 70 thousand dollars a month.
โDamn it! Bastards!โ she grumbled through gritted teeth. Without money from Jennifer, she didnโt dare do anything because Jasmine was, indeed, the one who drove that woman to death.
Jasmine didnโt want to end up in jail, butโฆ. Jasmine lifted her gaze to Zoe, hoping the child she was carrying wasnโt Jasonโs. No one could stand in her sonโs way. Her son was destined to become the heir of the Simpson family.
Since the Simpson family could be a pushover for Jennifer, Wendy could be the same for my son, Jasmine wondered. Jennifer couldnโt stop Jasmine either. She didnโt want any money, but she wanted to return to the Simpson residence to rest up. Cooperating with Jennifer could help her get through the current troubles. Jasmineโs gaze was intense; Jason was the perfect scapegoat. Wendy was sure to care about her own grandson. Jasmine had an idea and was just waiting for the right moment to act.
Natalie brought over some baby formula, showing that Zoeโs baby was about to arrive. The baby was to be born in a few days. Considering the timing, it was clearly Jasonโs.
That night, Jasmine had planned to get close to Jason. The person who was supposed to enter the room was Jasmine, but in the end, it was Zoe who got pulled in by him. Jason felt guilty toward Jasmine, which was why he spoke harshly to Zoe. That was what finally drove Zoe to leave Jason for good.
That fool Jason, only Zoe thinks heโs something special, Jasmine wondered. Jasmine gave a cold smile, turned around, and walked away, deciding to take some money from Zoe before leaving. In her opinion, Zoe was rich and naive.
Natalie and Zoe were clueless about what was happening outside. They returned indoors, where Zoe had already made lunch and was waiting for Natalie to eat.
Zoe smiled. โCome on, Natalie. Iโve made seafood stew. The fish has no bones. Iโve sliced it into pieces. It tastes fantastic.โ
Natalie sat across from her, nodding eagerly. โGreat! Iโm so hungry!โ
Natalie quickly picked up the food and started eating the fish, dipping it in some sauce. It was tender and delicious. โYummy,โ Natalie said with a smile that lit up her eyes.
Zoe was also happy, but her lower back felt sore and tense. She knew her baby was about to arrive. โNatalie, the baby will be born soon. Iโm so excited and canโt wait,โ Zoeโs voice was filled with uncontrollable joy. No matter who the father was, the child was hers.
Natalie watched her excitement, knowing that Zoe genuinely loved this child. Regardless of who the father was, she loved the child. During Natalieโs time travel, Zoe didnโt end up with Jason. She raised the child by herself, and when the child was five, Zoe met someone who truly loved her. Natalie had no idea who it would be. Later on, Zoe lived quite happily, yet Natalie never saw her again.
"I'm excited too. New life means new hope. Zoe, youโre going to be even happier. This time, Natalie would watch Zoe find happiness." Zoe was a wonderful girl, gentle and kind, and it was Jasonโs loss.
The two enjoyed a joyful lunch, and Natalie ate until she was full, then took charge of washing the dishes in the kitchen.
Zoe had a sore back, and she walked around in the living room to ease the pain. Zoe felt the baby move occasionally and smiled softly, thinking of her little lazy cat. Being pregnant in the middle of winter was really tiring, but Zoe was still looking forward to it. She would give her baby all the love she had. It was good that the hospital was right across the street and had excellent medical facilities. And that was why Zoe chose to have the baby there.
Natalie turned around and looked at Zoe, saying, โZoe, if youโre not feeling well, you should lie down for a while. With that belly, Iโm sure the baby will be born either tonight or by tomorrow morning.โ
Zoe chuckled. โOkay! Natalie, my back is killing me. Iโm going to lie down for a bit. Grab something to eat if you want.โ
Natalie replied, โSure! Donโt worry about me. Iโll treat this place like itโs my own home.โ
Only then did Zoe happily go to take a rest. Natalie finished washing the dishes, dried her hands, and noticed her phone vibrating. Picking it up, she saw it was an unknown number again. Natalie frowned as she wondered, could it be Easton again?
โHello?โ she said.
Chapter 313:
"Come on out, I need to talk to you," Eastonโs deep, hoarse voice came through assertively.
Natalie frowned, is he halfโasleep in the middle of the day? she wondered. He really is as bossy as ever. Natalie smiled and asked: โWhere to?"
Eastonโs voice was still raspy. "The restaurant next to the office. I'll be waiting for you there."
Natalie replied, โAlright! Iโll be there soon.โ Natalie finished speaking and hung up the call.
She grinned mischievously. 'Easton, wait long enough to understand how agonizing it is to be the one waiting, just like me back thenโฆ' she wondered. Natalie returned to her room to pack her bags. After she finished packing, Natalie noticed that the snow outside had stopped, and the distant sea had big waves. Natalie was full of awe as she changed into comfy clothes. She picked up her tablet to work, dealt with an email from Carl, and then started watching a show.
Easton arrived at the restaurant early, and after waiting over an hour for Natalie, she still hadnโt shown up. Easton rarely waited for anyone, and it made him irritated. He picked up his phone to check the time. It had been an hour and twenty minutes. Thinking about how Natalie often waited for him at night, Easton decided to be patient.
When the waiter asked him for the second time if he wanted to order, Easton glanced at the time again. Two hours had passed. Easton couldnโt wait any longer. He had an important meeting coming up. He called Natalie again.
Natalie was watching a soap opera, fully aware that in two years, the film industry would be challenged by short videos. She was already focused on this market and planned to start once the development of the Sylvaris lands began. Natalie was deep in thought when her phone suddenly rang. Seeing the familiar number, Natalie remembered Easton. Natalie put down her tablet and answered the call. โHello?โ
โNatalie, why arenโt you here yet?โ Eastonโs voice was starting to sound impatient.
Natalie smiled and said bluntly, โEaston, the snow outside is really heavy and cold. I went out to look but came back in because I didnโt want to catch a cold. Why are you still at the restaurant? I didnโt think someone like you would wait for me. I thought you had left already?"
Natalie looked out the window, feeling the gloomy sky cast a shadow over her heart. In this world, it was not about not having time. It was about not wanting to meet. Every choice reflected the direction of oneโs heart.
Chapter 313
Easton took a deep breath, holding back his anger, and asked, โNatalie, are you doing this on purpose?โ
