Chapter 293
Jennifer was stunned by his words. Easton had never spoken to her like that in all these years.
She cried angrily. โEaston, how can you say that about me? Iโm telling you what Vance said. She didnโt help Vance when he was in trouble. She has 15 million dollars to buy land but not 200,000 dollars to save Vance.โ
Jennifer said, โIf it werenโt for you, Declan would have been in trouble long ago. Sheโs ruthless and malicious. Easton, donโt let her deceive you.โ
Easton gave a cold smirk. โMalicious?โ
Easton laughed softly and turned to leave, leaving Jennifer standing there, completely bewildered.
โEaston,โ Jennifer said.
Jennifer hurried after him. โThe Spencer family is offering to trade for the land in the west suburb. Havenโt you always wanted that land?โ
Easton thought about what Natalie had said and immediately lost interest in the land.
โJennifer, if thatโs the land you want, maybe I can do you a favor.โ Natalieโs calm voice suddenly came from behind them.
Jennifer turned around to see Natalie standing in the cold wind. Her delicate face showed a faint smile, a hint of mischief in her eyes, but the land Natalie mentioned intrigued Jennifer even more.
Jennifer laughed and asked, โNatalie, what do you mean by that?โ
Jennifer thought, โIs Natalie being nice because she wants to return to the Simpson family?โ
Natalie desired familial love, and Jennifer was aware of it and pressed on her sore spot.
For the past two years, seeing Natalie secretly wipe away tears brought Jennifer great satisfaction.
Natalie was always her defeated rival.
Natalie walked over to the two of them with a smile, noticing the tears on Jenniferโs face. Natalie glanced at Easton and teased. โMr. Garcia, how did you make your sweetheart cry? Looking at her pitiful face is truly heartbreaking.โ
Easton furrowed his brows at Natalie. โWhy are you here? You should be resting if youโre hurt.โ
Natalie was speechless.
Natalie smirked coldly at him. โIโm not Jennifer, rushing to the hospital over a little scratch.โ
Easton was silent and stood there with indifference, watching Natalie.
Natalie was smiling as she looked at Jennifer. โJennifer, if you buy that land, Iโll forgive Davian.โ
Messing with Jennifer was Natalieโs favorite thing to do.
Jennifer furrowed her brows. โBut Easton wants that land in the western suburb. Natalie, are you saying if you let Davian off the hook, Easton can have the land for free?โ
Jennifer thought, โWhat is Natalie up to? Offering me something for nothing, this seems suspicious.โ
Jennifer watched Natalie with a cautious look.
Natalieโs recent actions made Jennifer a bit wary.
โAre you and Davian close friends?โ Natalie asked with a smile.
Her arm ached where it had been hit. After finishing her work, Natalie wanted to take a walk and ended up running into them.
Natalie happened to hear Jenniferโs words clearly, and indeed, Easton wanted the land in the western suburb.
โNot really. Natalie, Iโm doing this for Eastonโs benefit,โ Jennifer explained with a smile.
Natalie said, โItโs for his good, but why should I help a cheating jerk? Besides, Maxwell is the one who decides about the land, not Murray.โ
Jennifer said, โMaxwell offering it for free? Heโs just trying to fool me. If you want it, I can ask Murray to sell the land to you.โ Natalie thought Easton might have found out something about Jennifer.
That was why heโd been acting weird lately and was refusing to divorce. These two need to be tied in this deal for her to smoothly get a divorce and enjoy a free life.
Natalie had always been a thrill-seeker, loving sports like car racing, biking, and diving.
Just now, Natalie suddenly came up with an idea to test Eastonโs attitude, and it could determine her next move.
โWhat? The decision is in Murrayโs hands?โ Jennifer was somewhat surprised and thought, โIs Maxwell fooling me!โ Maxwell was so sly, not a word of truth out of his mouth, just as expected.
Easton was also interested in that piece of land in the western suburb, which meant it had development potential. Jennifer wanted to compete with Easton for that land.
If they could secure the development first, they would make a fortune.
Jennifer thought it was a great deal. She looked at Natalie and said, โNatalie, weโre still best friends. Could you please talk to Murray about the land in the western suburb? But I want to buy at the lowest price.โ
Natalie looked at Easton, who stood still.
Easton gazed at Natalie with deep eyes, a faint smile on his lips.
Easton didnโt stop Jennifer.
Natalie raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised.
Natalie thought, โWhatโs up with Easton?โ
Natalie agreed and said, โAlright. Iโll find Murray soon and get him to sell it to you at the lowest price.โ
Jennifer was puzzled why Natalie wasnโt buying it. โNatalie, everyone is after that land in the western suburb. I heard youโre getting into real estate too, so why arenโt you buying it?โ
Natalie smiled and said, โIโm buying the land from Mr. Wright for other reasons, not for real estate. Even if I could buy the land in the western suburb, I wouldnโt have the funds to develop.
Iโm just an orphan, and I donโt get the money to compete with you for the land. When Maxwell mentioned it, I wanted to find out who holds the propertyโs rights."
โI know someone else whoโs interested, but I donโt think theyโre as sincere as you, so I decided to help you.โ
Jennifer was eager to get things done because her partner urgently needed to come back and expand, so buying the land wasnโt a big deal.
That land couldnโt be developed.
Once the ancient tomb was excavated, many research teams would move in. It was filled with antiques that had significant research value.
Jennifer was cautious and didnโt care much about whether to buy or not.
The Spencer family wasnโt lacking in money. Donating the land later would earn them a good reputation, and their stock prices would rise.
Easton decided to give up because he believed Natalieโs words.
Natalieโs cool gaze swept over his handsome face, showing nothing but coldness.
Jennifer thought for a moment and said, โIโll contact you later. I need to call my mom to discuss it first.โ
Natalie gave a meaningful smile. โOkay. Iโll be waiting for your good news.โ
Natalie walked away with a smile.
Easton watched Natalie walk away and asked, โItโs snowing heavily today, and where are you going?โ
Natalie turned to him and said, โMr. Garcia, weโre already divorced. Where I go is none of your business. Youโd better cheer up Jennifer. If youโre late, a few hundred thousand worth of jewelry wonโt make her happy.โ
Easton furrowed his brows. If Jennifer was unhappy, he would buy her favorite jewelry to cheer her up. But when he married Natalie, they didnโt even have wedding rings.
A flash of guilt crossed Eastonโs eyes. โCome on. Let me take you somewhere.โ
Easton walked over to hold Natalie, but she quickly stepped back watching him warily. โEaston, donโt touch me!โ
Natalie dodged, but felt a sharp pain in her arm, making her frown slightly.
Easton didnโt dare to touch her again. โNever mind, youโre hurt. Let me take you home to rest.โ
Natalie refused. โNo need. I want to stroll around by myself. Leave me alone."
Natalie turned and quickly walked away, and she wanted to know if the man behind Jennifer would take the bait.
