Chapter 248

Natalie was stunned for a moment. Seeing Easton’s cold gaze, she laughed in frustration and remarked, “Easton, don’t assume everyone else is just as disgusting as you.”

Easton scoffed, “Then why were you so eager to make oatmeal for someone else?”

Natalie replied, “That’s because his grandma is sick. He always burns oatmeal, so I helped him out once. What’s wrong with that?”

Natalie wondered how Easton found out and how he managed to locate her at the hospital.

She didn’t care about any of that. All she wanted now was a divorce.

It took a death experience for her to realize her past mistakes.

In the past, Natalie lived too humbly with Easton, missing out on so much.

This time, she was determined to cherish those who treated her well.

Even though she agreed to the divorce just as he wanted, Easton kept bothering her. From now on, she wouldn’t show him any more courtesy.

Hearing Natalie’s assertive voice, Easton paused, slightly surprised.

Handing her back the phone, he said, “I just want you to be aware of your status.”

Natalie laughed sarcastically and mocked him, “Easton, if you can’t set an example yourself, why should I stay faithful to you?”

Easton looked at Natalie sharply with those unfathomable and captivating eyes. After a while, he said gently, “Natalie, just be understanding and give me some time to solve the problem.”

Natalie looked at Easton with a frightened expression and asked, “Easton, have you been possessed? Why are you speaking to me so gently?”

In her memory, Easton was always cold and distant towards her.

Easton frowned as he watched her, thinking about his previous bad attitude, but he stayed quiet.

Natalie looked at Easton in silence and continued, “Easton, my only wish in this life is to divorce you. After we divorce, I’ll live the life I want. You’re not part of my future.”

After saying that, Natalie looked out the window and didn’t pay Easton any attention.

Upon hearing her say that he wouldn’t be part of her future, Easton got furious. He glanced at her delicate profile, realizing she was truly serious this time. But he couldn’t allow the divorce to happen.

The compartment fell silent as Xavier focused on driving, but the discomfort was palpable.

Xavier really didn’t feel sorry for Easton this time.

When they arrived at the Garcia residence, Natalie got out of the car first and went inside.

Entering the luxurious living room, Natalie saw Anne seated on the sofa with an unwell expression. It was clear she was sick. Natalie hurried over and inquired, “Grandma, where are you feeling unwell?”

Anne smiled warmly as soon as she saw Natalie. She said, “Natalie, come here. I’m fine, just a little bit of stomach upset.”

“Stomachache?” Natalie held Anne’s hand to check her pulse.

Then Natalie said, “It’s just a stomachache, Grandma. Don’t worry. Take two of the pills I gave you earlier, and you’ll start to feel better.”

Natalie glanced at the maid nearby and said, “Amy, do we still have the medicine I brought last time?”

Amy Thomas approached and said, “Ms. Shawn, there should still be some. I’ll go get it.”

Natalie nodded and then reassured Anne, “Grandma, don’t eat anything too cold. Your stomach issues won’t come back.”

Anne leaned back on the couch, smiling, and saying, “Oh! I’m getting older, with so many health problems over the years. But thanks to your care, I’ve had a few good years. Now, whenever I feel unwell, you’re always willing to come see me.”

Anne really didn’t want to part with Natalie.

In Anne’s opinion, Natalie was so kind and sincere, but Easton was blind to Natalie’s virtues and was fixated on that wicked Jennifer.

Anne looked across at Easton and said, “Easton, I agree to your divorce, but you can’t marry Jennifer. If you don’t love Natalie, I won’t force you to be with her, but you should let her go.”

Anne called Natalie over tonight because of this issue.

Anne had heard that Easton didn’t want to get a divorce now.

Anne said, “Easton, Natalie doesn’t owe you anything anymore. You’ve fulfilled your grandfather’s agreement, and the business rights are already in your hands. There’s no need to keep Natalie tied to you anymore.”

Natalie was taken aback, staring at Anne’s kind face. She hadn’t expected Anne to bring up this issue as soon as she returned. Easton frowned, thinking, ‘Grandma has always forbidden me to divorce Natalie, but why does she suddenly agree?’

“Grandma, this is a matter between Natalie and me,” Easton said in a serious tone.

Anne furrowed her brow, unable to understand him. Easton used to always dislike Natalie, but now he wouldn’t divorce her.

Anne said, “You don’t love Natalie. I heard that Maurice is interested in Natalie, and he’s a decent young man. You should let Natalie find her happiness.

“I secretly went to see Maurice, and at least he wouldn’t neglect Natalie. If Natalie were bullied, he wouldn’t side with outsiders and would support her.

“However, you’ve always focused on someone like Jennifer.”

Easton frowned but ultimately said nothing.

Natalie felt empowered listening to Anne’s words.

Natalie felt distressed, recalling how every time Jennifer manipulated her, Easton would invariably side with Jennifer.

Even if Natalie’s life had started anew, she still felt sadness. The pains were deeply etched into her memory, and she could never fully erase them.

Easton gazed deeply at Natalie, thinking, ‘Does she also like Maurice?’

Easton had seen them having dinner together, and Natalie was smiling joyfully when he was with Maurice.

Easton wondered if Natalie’s love for him was really that shallow.

It seemed Natalie had quickly fallen in love with someone else after leaving Easton.

Easton gazed at Natalie seriously and said, “Let’s have dinner first.”

Then Natalie helped Anne to the dining table.

Vernon had been abroad recently and hadn’t come back yet.

Anne hadn’t been in good health lately. She could only manage a small bowl of oatmeal and couldn’t eat any more.

Natalie, aware that Anne was suffering from a stomachache, took the medication Amy had brought. She carefully poured out two pills and handed them to Anne, saying, “Grandma, take these. Get a good night’s rest, and you’ll feel better by tomorrow.

“I’ll also arrange for someone to bring the silver needles, so I can perform some acupuncture for you. Your stomach should improve significantly soon.”

Anne’s eyes lit up instantly at those words, and she asked, “Natalie, does that mean you’re not leaving tonight?”

Anne exclaimed, “That’s wonderful, Natalie! It’s been so long since someone has kept me company. Stay and chat with me tonight.”

Natalie laughed and promised, “Sure.”

Natalie asked Luna to bring her the first aid kit.

Forty minutes later, Luna arrived with it.

Then Natalie went into Anne’s room to give her acupuncture.

Seeing this, Amy immediately went to the garden to call Jennifer.

Amy said, “Ms. Simpson, that witch Natalie is here to visit Mrs. Garcia again. Mrs. Garcia even said Mr. Garcia should divorce Natalie but shouldn’t marry you.

“Ms. Simpson, Mrs. Garcia is your primary obstacle to becoming part of the Garcia family.”

Amy spoke while cautiously glancing around.

Jennifer was furious, thinking, ‘That stubborn old hag is really a great trouble.’

Jennifer said, “Amy, keep an eye on Easton and Natalie. They must not sleep in the same room. I’ll help arrange a job for your son when I get back.”

Amy’s eyes sparkled with delight, but she paused before saying, “Ms. Simpson, they are a married couple sharing a room, so I see no need for interference. However, I’m aware that Mr. Garcia loves you and won’t want to share a room with Natalie.”

Jennifer sneered, “Keep a close watch, just in case Natalie tries to shamelessly seduce Easton.”
