Chapter 232

Vance said, “Tiana, why are you looking at me like that? Weren’t you really into me? Why don’t you want to make me egg rolls anymore!”

Vance couldn’t understand why Tiana had changed. Her unfamiliar gaze pierced him deeply; he didn’t know why, he just disliked seeing such unfamiliarity in her look.

Vance looked at Tiana with difficulty, his mind in a haze, yet still her face was as cold as ice.

He thought, “What’s going on? Tiana really likes me.”

Tiana blinked, staring at Natalie who was steering the speedboat, shocked. “Natalie, did he really lose his memory?”

The way he looked at things, it didn’t seem like he was faking it.

He’d gone back to being the arrogant and bossy person he was in college, and honestly, it was more annoying now.

Natalie didn’t really understand all this; it was different from what happened before.

She thought, "Could it be that in this life, with me and Tiana intervening, things have changed?"

After Jason found out the whole story, he apologized to her.

Wendy, to stop her four sons from ruining her plan, stubbornly kept Nick and Jennifer’s issues to herself.

She thought, “Does this family suddenly wise up?”

Natalie shook her head. "Tiana, I don’t know what’s happening either; let’s take him to the hospital for a check-up first.” Vance was feeling awful, his vision blurred. He said, “Natalie, I know you just got home, and the family’s got some misunderstandings about you, but don’t worry. I’m here, and I will protect you.”

Natalie was shocked. She thought, “Isn’t he starting off on the wrong foot here? He’s not physically inconvenienced but has lost his memory?"

Natalie stayed silent, and Vance didn’t ask further. He had lost a lot of blood, and his body was twitching slightly.

Natalie lowered her gaze and said, "Tiana, open my first aid kit and find a red bottle. Give him a pill from it to swallow, or he won’t make it to the hospital.”

Tiana was still in shock. She only snapped out of it when she heard Natalie’s voice and looked at the delicate first aid kit nearby. “Oh! I’ll give him the medicine right now."

Vance was barely conscious, feeling a pair of soft hands feeding him something at his lips. After swallowing it, his mouth was filled with a strong bitterness. It was a familiar touch–it was Tiana.

“Tiana… don’t leave me…” These were the words Tiana heard before he passed out.

Tiana’s eyes widened as she looked at Vance’s pale face.

To be honest, over the past year, she had already forgotten about Vance. No matter the reason, she wasn’t going to look back, as the hurt was undeniably real.

She believed in love that blossoms from childhood, from school days to marriage, but that wasn’t her experience with Vance.

An hour later, Vance was rushed into the hospital’s emergency room.

Still in her wetsuit, Natalie realized there was nothing she could do as Vance was being treated.

So she returned to the hotel, took a hot shower, stored the seafood she had caught in the fridge, made herself some ginger tea, and took cold medicine before finally letting out a sigh of relief.

She sat on the hotel sofa, gazing out the window at the beautiful blue sea and white sandy beach.

She never expected to run into Vance here. She saved him after all, but her feelings were mixed–maybe it was because they were related.

But her heart had already turned cold, she would never forgive anyone from the Simpson family.

Natalie stood up, went to the bathroom, dried her long hair, and styled it into a ponytail. She paused for a moment, taken aback by her youthful and bright reflection in the mirror.

During the two years she was married to Easton, she had been worn down like a middle-aged woman. This vibrant woman now, this was the real Natalie.

Gently tracing her reflection with her fingers, tears suddenly fell as she murmured to herself, “I’m sorry for how I treated you before. From now on, it won’t be like that.”

From now on, she was determined to truly love herself and stop sacrificing her own wellbeing for others.

Standing in front of the mirror, Natalie carefully applied skincare products and put on a matte lipstick. She was satisfied as she looked at her dazzling reflection, a small smile on her lips.

After putting away her skincare products, she went out to the island’s hospital. The hospital was very close to the hotel, just a short distance behind it.

As Natalie opened the hotel door, she saw Easton and Jennifer coming out of the room across the hall.

Natalie paused, surprised to see them there.

Their eyes met, and Easton was expressionless, but he was clearly impressed by Natalie’s stunning transformation. Natalie was dressed simply, in a white shirt and black wide-leg pants, which made her look tall and striking.

Jennifer was surprised to see Natalie. “Natalie, what are you doing here?”

Natalie ignored Jennifer completely and just walked past her.

Watching her leave, Jennifer stomped her foot in frustration. “Natalie, what’s with the attitude?”

Natalie walked away without even pausing for a moment. She felt it was just bad luck to run into Easton and Jennifer here. Jennifer asked, “Easton, what’s Natalie doing here?”

Jennifer’s movie had already started filming, and today’s shoot was on an island. It was time to head out for the filming.

Easton came over for a project, and Jennifer knew he’d be here, so she showed up too: Still, seeing Natalie catch them leaving the hotel together was enough to upset her.

Besides, Easton was aware that Tiana’s team was here, and Natalie was here too.

“No idea. Let’s go.” Easton responded indifferently, striding towards the elevator.

Natalie was still waiting for the elevator when she saw Easton coming. As he got closer, his strong presence overwhelmed her, making her subtly widen the distance between them.

It seemed she’d need to change hotels, as being around the two of them was really bothering her.

But the island was small, and this was the best hotel available. She decided to just lock the door when she got back at night—out of sight, out of mind.

Easton noticed her actions and slightly frowned, asking calmly. “Did you go to the beach today?”

Natalie looked up at him, unimpressed. “What’s it to you?”

Easton seemed unfazed by her coldness and went on, “I saw you taking a speedboat out to sea. Natalie, I had no idea you could drive a speedboat. I’m really surprised."

He had just arrived on the island and saw Natalie heading out to sea with Tiana. Her skillful handling of the speedboat was impressive.

He was amazed that after leaving him, Natalie seemed capable of anything.

Her exceptional driving skills were eye-opening for him, and on top of that, she could handle a speedboat.

Since she left him, everything Natalie did was extraordinary.

Natalie didn’t say anything. In their eyes, she wasn’t capable of much, but her driving a speedboat was impressive to him.

If he found out about all the other amazing skills she had, he’d probably be shocked.

She really doubted if she was actually Nick’s daughter. After all, it was strange that someone like Nick had such a highly talented daughter like her.

Natalie admired herself for a few seconds without shame.

Seeing her silent, Easton suddenly leaned in, his deep eyes filled with a storm. “Natalie, speak…”
