Chapter 179

The guy on the left grinned at her. โ€œDonโ€™t yell at me; Iโ€™m not afraid of dogs.โ€

Jennifer stayed silent. Another man chimed in. โ€œLady, girls are all princesses, so why are you the only one acting like you have issues? Looks like your mouth has seen better days, hasnโ€™t it? Every word out of it is just a bunch of trash.โ€

Jennifer frowned, immediately figuring out who these guys were working for. โ€œDid Murray send you?โ€ She knew Murray loved pranks.

The two guys were caught off guard. One of them asked, puzzled, โ€œMurray? Whoโ€™s that? An enemy of yours?โ€

Jennifer was a bit surprised. She thought, โ€œNot Murray? But only he would have a reason to do something like this.โ€

Jenniferโ€™s face was slapped hard. โ€œAh!โ€ Jennifer was shocked and scared. She had never been hit before, except by Natalie.

โ€œWow! That scream is so shrill and annoying,โ€ the guy said, his voice filled with disgust.

Jenniferโ€™s pride was hurt. โ€œYouโ€“โ€

โ€œWhat do you mean? You think youโ€™re a woman, so I wouldnโ€™t hit you, right?โ€ The guy waved the hand that had slapped Jennifer.

Jennifer was fuming. โ€œYou damn well did hit me! You just did!โ€ As soon as she yelled, another slap hit the other side of her face. โ€œAh!โ€ Jenniferโ€™s eyes welled up with tears.

She stepped back in fear. The guy narrowed his eyes at her, looking menacing. โ€œWhat are you scared of? We just want to break your hands.โ€

Jennifer clutched her hands tightly, confused. โ€œWhat are you doing? Why do you want to break my hands? I havenโ€™t done anything to you. Donโ€™t go too far.โ€

Next month, there was a piano competition, which was crucial for her. It was the most important step for her to enter the entertainment industry. Colin had organized it specifically for her.

โ€œAre you here because of Natalie?โ€ Only Natalie knew about her plans to enter the entertainment industry and how important this competition was. But Natalie was so clumsy; she wouldnโ€™t easily take action unless provoked.

โ€œNatalie? Whoโ€™s that? I donโ€™t know her, but we know you. You just graduated, didnโ€™t you? Who did you impersonate to get into the piano competition?โ€

Jennifer was stunned, staring at the two men. โ€œYouโ€“โ€

โ€œI just canโ€™t stand seeing such a vicious woman like you. Do you remember Yvette Zeller? Just because she had no money or power, you took everything from her.โ€

The guy punched her in the face. โ€œAh!โ€ Jennifer felt everything go dark, her whole body aching.

The guy glanced at her pained screams. โ€œStop that. Your voice is so shrill. Yvette died because of you.โ€

He continued. โ€œJennifer, you used your power and tricks to steal her first place. I curse you; may you never have a good life.โ€

โ€œHey, whatโ€™s going on over there?โ€ It was a police officerโ€™s voice. The two men saw the cop and ran off. The officer chased after them.

Jennifer watched the men run away, finally daring to breathe. She clutched her chest, gasping for air, her face throbbing with pain, but she felt a twisted sense of joy.

โ€œHaha.โ€ Jennifer laughed maniacally. She thought, โ€œYvette was dead, and that was good! So, no one knew that secret anymore.โ€

Chapter 179

Jenniferโ€™s expression was wild and sinister, her ambition fully exposed in the darkness. Under the night sky, she cried and laughed.

She looked at the nearby mansion district. This was her dream, and Eastonโ€™s dream, their shared dream. Easton lived here, and so could she. This mansion district was a symbol of the wealthy elite.

She used to pass by this place every day because Easton lived here, and she would often stop by to check on him. But now, Easton didnโ€™t want her anymore. She knew exactly why she had worked so hard to climb up.

Her lips trembled. โ€œEaston, Iโ€™ll make you obey me for the rest of your life,โ€ Jennifer said, her laugh bordering on manic. She saw that the lights in Eastonโ€™s mansion were off and turned away, feeling dejected.

The events of tonight had scared her. As she left, a sinister smile appeared on the face of someone in a nearby luxury car.

After Jennifer left, she returned home and saw Jasmine there. โ€œJennifer, youโ€™re back,โ€ Jasmine said happily, reaching for Jenniferโ€™s hand. Seeing Jenniferโ€™s swollen, red face, she was shocked. โ€œJennifer, what happened? Who hit you?โ€

Jenniferโ€™s expression darkened, and she wasnโ€™t in the mood to deal with her. โ€œIโ€™m fine. What are you doing here?โ€ Jasmine had completed her task and was now expendable, Jennifer thought.

Seeing Jenniferโ€™s bad mood, Jasmine decided to be honest. โ€œJennifer, when Jason left, he transferred his shares to you. You promised to give me part of the money every 15th of the month. Itโ€™s the 15th today, so I came to collect.โ€

Jennifer remembered that she had only agreed to this to deceive Jason. She smiled, โ€œJasmine, youโ€™re already thinking about spending Jasonโ€™s money before marrying him. If Mom finds out, sheโ€™ll think youโ€™re only after his money. Besides, our company is unstable right now. How can I give you any money?โ€

Jasmine looked at her in shock, suddenly remembering what Natalie had said โ€“ she was just a pawn to Jennifer. โ€œJennifer, even if there are problems with the company, the dividends shouldnโ€™t be affected. Can you give me my share?โ€ Jasmine smiled, not wanting to upset Jennifer before getting the money.

To keep Jasmine at bay temporarily, Jennifer transferred a few thousand dollars to her. She looked at Jasmine with feigned difficulty. โ€œJasmine, the more you get from me, the less likely Mom will let you in. Jason is disabled now and abroad for treatment. You should think about your future. You know the baby isnโ€™t Jasonโ€™s.โ€

This last statement was a direct threat. Jasmine, enraged, said, โ€œJennifer, you promised to keep it a secret.โ€

โ€œWhat secret?โ€ a plump old lady emerged from the room.

Jennifer saw it was Brenda and smiled, โ€œGrandma, itโ€™s nothing. You havenโ€™t gone to bed yet?โ€

Brenda looked at Jennifer, then at the empty living room. โ€œI couldnโ€™t sleep. Iโ€™m waiting for your mom to come back. Itโ€™s so late, and sheโ€™s always out early and back late. Women should stay home and take care of their men, letting the men work outside. The company should be handed over to your dad. After all these years of marriage, she still doesnโ€™t let go. She doesnโ€™t treat us like family.โ€

Brenda was upset because she hadnโ€™t received her money this month. Jennifer smiled and tried to comfort her. Meanwhile, Natalie, who had just returned home, received a message from an informant.

[Mrs. Simpson and Mr. Simpson are here, and Jasmine comes to collect money.] Natalie smirked. All she needed to do now was sit back and watch the show.
