Chapter 117

Upon hearing this, Jennifer was so upset she was almost in tears. Her eyes were calm, staring coldly out the window.

She spoke sadly. “What else could have happened? Easton saw those photos and texts where I provoked Natalie, and now he knows I was trying to ruin their marriage. He doesn’t trust me anymore.”

“Natalie used to be so meek and would never tell Easton about these things, but I never thought I would end up getting myself in trouble this time.

“Natalie has given up on Easton and wanted to divorce him, but he refused. Natalie would use her evidence to accuse Easton of cheating, and I would be the mistress.”

She withdrew her gaze, looking at Nick with teary eyes. “So, Dad, we need to make sure they have a peaceful divorce without any lawsuits. I don’t want to be called a homewrecker. And have you noticed Natalie has changed? It’s like she’s a different woman."

“Ugh, I don’t think so. She used to treat us as family before, but now she’s signed the separation papers, and she doesn’t have to put up with us anymore. How can you not understand it?” Nick’s face was grim. “I have to be ruthless with Jason to get that five percent of shares from him, and I’ll figure out the rest.”

Nick stood by the window, his cold eyes fixed on the bustling city below, full of ambition.

Jennifer lowered her gaze, full of malice.

Outside the door, Wendy recorded their conversation and then left.

In the lobby downstairs, she came across Jason, who was storming in anger.

“Mom,” Jason said. His stomach still hurt, and his face was pale.

Wendy breathed a sigh of relief when she noticed Natalie wasn’t there and asked weakly. “Did you go looking for Natalie?”

Jason was furious, his eyes cold with anger. “Yes, but she kicked me out.”

Wendy chuckled and thought, ‘Good job. It would be nice to be able to clear your mind.’

Wendy felt bitter and forced a smile. “Jason, walk with me to the garden. I have something to tell you.”

Jason was worried about Jennifer and said, “Mom, let me check on Jennifer first. She must be feeling upset right now.”

Wendy sneered, “Fine, you only care about Jennifer and betray your biological sister. But Jennifer wants you dead. Go ahead, I’ll get your coffin ready in advance. You only trust Jennifer and never believe your mother.”

Wendy looked at him in shock. “Go upstairs, you stupid. Your fate is already decided. I’ll search for a good place to bury you. That’s all I can do for you.”

Jason gritted his teeth in frustration, “Mom, what do you mean? Why are you cursing me to die?”

With tears in her eyes, Wendy asked, “Did Natalie ever tell you to avoid some places recently?”

Jason sneered, “She told me not to go racing. I’ve been preparing for three years. How could I be absent?”

Wendy pressed further, “Even if it means losing your life, you’re going to go, right?”

“No, Mom, don’t listen to Natalie’s nonsense. I don’t know if she will hurt me.” Ever since Natalie mentioned it, he’d been thinking about it.

Wendy’s face turned pale, enveloped in a cold aura, her eyes glinting with cold light. She gave a bitter smile, “So, is that how you see it? She warns you to stay safe, and you turn it against her?”

“Jason, do you know you survived a car accident two years ago because of Natalie’s rescue? Although you weren’t seriously hurt, you were unconscious with your head pressed against the airbag. If Natalie hadn’t carried you out of the car, you would have suffocated,” Wendy said.

“Mom, who told you that? It was Jennifer who saved me back then. Natalie couldn’t even open a car door. How could she rescue me?” Jason was furious and thought Easton must have tricked his mom again.

Wendy sighed. As expected, her son didn’t believe her.

“Mom, you’ve been fooled by Natalie again. She’s such a liar.” As soon as Jason finished speaking, he was slapped across the face. Wendy’s eyes were full of disappointment.

Jason was stunned. “Mom, you hit me. For Natalie.”

Wendy said weakly, “Piss off. Don’t tell Jennifer a word of what I said. If she knows, she will hurt herself again to prove that, and you’ll be heartbroken. Well, I should leave now. My company is almost bankrupt. I need to work overtime.” Wendy walked away, her head lowered.

Jason was shocked and thought, ‘Bankruptcy? How is that possible? Lately, Mom’s been coming home early and staying late. Well, I have to persuade Alexander back to help Mom manage the company. Even though he is a hopeless romantic, he’s really good at managing the business. I couldn’t let Mom be so burdened like this.’

Jason touched his slapped face, speechless. He was sad because his mother beat him for Natalie.

Jason arrived at Jennifer’s hospital room, carrying her favorite food.

“Jennifer, you can’t do this anymore. What if something happens to you? What would we do?” Jason put the things on the table.

With tears in her eyes, Jennifer looked at him and said, “Jason, Natalie framed me, and even Easton misunderstood me. He doesn’t want me anymore. What’s my life without Easton?”

With a face full of anger, Jason thought, ‘Natalie is really a fucking jinx.’

“Jennifer, don’t be sad. Except for the livestream, none of the other reports will be published. Those reporters have been caught, and the mastermind won’t tell the truth.” Jason knew he was encouraging bad behavior, yet felt it was what he should do.

Jason thought Natalie deserved to be treated that way.

Jennifer breathed a sigh of relief. With Jason’s help, she wasn’t scared anymore.

Losing Easton’s trust made her really upset, but once she got out of the hospital, she’d figure out a way to get him to like her again.

Jennifer sneered. “Next time, Easton, I’ll give you the strongest aphrodisiac to see if you can resist.”

“Jennifer, have something to eat.” Jason raised the small tray table and put the lunch on it.

When Jennifer saw all her favorite dishes, her mood instantly improved.

She flashed a bright, sweet smile. “Jason, you treat me the best. These are all my favorite dishes.”

Jason handed her a fork. “Silly girl, why wouldn’t I? Hurry and eat. We’ll go home after–“

Jennifer said, “Okay.”

She lowered her eyes, a cold glint flashing through them. Originally, she wanted to trick Natalie into a blood transfusion, making her completely resent Easton because Easton would force Natalie to do everything she didn’t want to for Jennifer.

But it didn’t work. Easton and Natalie didn’t fall for it.

Jennifer suddenly remembered Wendy and asked sadly, “Jason, why hasn’t Mom come to see me? Doesn’t she love me anymore?”
