Chapter 100

Natalie didn’t understand why Easton wanted to look into what happened six months ago. “Why? Did your boss hear when I said that Jennifer and Jasmine set up Jason? Can’t stay calm and wants to clear Jennifer’s name?”

Upon hearing Xavier’s words, Natalie’s first thought was that Easton wanted to stand up for Jennifer. Things like this happened many times.

Xavier felt helpless. To Natalie, Easton was the absolute worst among playboys.

Natalie went on, “Xavier, tell Easton that I have evidence about what happened six months ago. When the time comes, I’ll reveal it myself. He should have a plan ready for saving his girlfriend then.”

With that, Natalie hung up. Xavier stared blankly at the disconnected call, utterly shocked. That wasn’t what he meant. No, he hadn’t finished speaking yet.

“What did she say?” Easton’s cold voice came through.

Xavier was suddenly taken aback. Looking at Easton’s expectant eyes, he felt helpless. “Ms. Shawn said she has evidence about what happened six months ago, and if you’re covering for Jennifer, she suggests you figure out a plan in advance.”

Easton stared intently at Xavier. “Did she really say that?”

His hand hanging by his side clenched involuntarily. This woman was playing hard to get. She was using this tactic to get his attention again.

Xavier said, “Mr. Garcia, that’s really what Ms. Shawn said. She said if you side with Ms. Simpson, when the time comes, she’ll present the evidence and you should have a plan ready.”

Easton suddenly stepped back, pain stabbing his heart. He gasped in agony, his brow furrowing, his handsome face unreadable.

Easton’s charming lips curved slightly. “Call Natalie again, tell her she won at playing hard to get and she should come home.”

Xavier thought, ‘Oh my, how clueless can someone be to say something like that? Is Natalie playing hard to get? He is really naive.’

Indeed, someone you can’t forget is like the moon, more obvious at night. Easton had gotten used to Natalie taking care of him. These past few months, he hasn’t been eating or sleeping well.

“Mr. Garcia, it seems you’ve misunderstood Ms. Shawn. She’s not playing hard to get with you; she truly wants a divorce.” There was no “playing hard to get” thing. He’s really overestimating his own appeal.

Easton’s icy gaze fixed on him. “Call her again and tell her to come home, or I’ll go and drag her back myself.”

Easton remembered the last time he saw her. She was wearing a white spaghetti strap dress with a cute little shawl over it, highlighting her flawless skin and sexy collarbone. Her neck looked particularly slender and elegant, and she was leaning against Natalie. Her long, slender legs were just visible, tantalizingly hinting at more.

The sight drove him to distraction. Natalie had won; he couldn’t get her out of his mind. Her teasing act was making his cold heart itch.

Xavier could only keep calling Natalie, but the line was dead every time. Feeling helpless, Xavier said, “Mr. Garcia, she’s blocked my number too.”

Easton narrowed his eyes slightly, and the slight curl of his lips had an inexplicable allure. “Have you found out who that guy with Natalie is?”

Xavier frowned, “I only found out that he’s called James. I couldn’t find anything else, and there’s a girl named Luna with Ms. Shawn too. She seems like an orphan who’s been with her since she was little. She calls Ms. Shawn ‘Ms. Shawn’ and sometimes ‘Natalie.’”

The corners of Easton’s lips curled up slightly, as the mystery surrounding Natalie piqued his interest.

Xavier said, “Mr. Garcia, the issue with Zach and the others has been made public. Back in 2021, in some warehouse, someone assaulted an eighteen–year–old girl, and she ended her life by jumping into the sea.

“In the same year, on September 16th, there was a burglary at the home of a retired person. The elderly person was so scared that they had a heart attack and died. This is just too much.

“Oh my gosh, why are they so terrible, picking on the weak, elderly, and young girls? How could Jennifer and Jason have friends like this?

“Mr. Garcia, are you really going to bail out people like this? If you do, more people might get hurt.” Xavier couldn’t help but ask.

In Easton’s usually calm eyes, a hint of emotion finally appeared. “Xavier, do you think I should save them?” he asked, emphasizing each word through gritted teeth.

Easton suddenly remembered that Natalie had mentioned on the phone that Zach said he’d get them out. He thought they might all be in on it.

He rubbed his forehead, thinking about that scoundrel Zach, who really had the nerve to say anything. Jennifer was indeed bold and confident because of his indulgence.

Xavier nodded, “Mr. Garcia, whenever Ms. Simpson asks you for something, you always grant her requests.

“Before Natalie left, there was a time she was seriously ill, but when Jennifer called, you stayed with her all night while Natalie was alone at the hospital getting an IV drip.

“Mr. Garcia, this kind of thing has happened countless times since Ms. Simpson came back. Boss, I’m trying to tell you that nobody will wait for someone forever in the same place.

“Relationships that are just superficial will eventually fall apart. Natalie gave herself back to herself, and you back to you.”

“Shut up, you don’t need to remind me of this. I wasn’t ready for it,” Easton hesitated. He wasn’t just unprepared. Wendy’s words lingered vividly in his mind. His expression became serious, and he turned to leave.

After taking a few steps, he suddenly stopped. If there really was someone behind Jennifer, he had to expose that person.

Easton said, “Freeze Jennifer’s card. Tell her, ‘You saved my life back then, and over these past few years, you’ve spent over at least 500 million dollars. That’s enough. Go visit the Simpson family yourself.’”

Easton narrowed his eyes. Jennifer had spent so much of his money, yet he hadn’t seen her buy any expensive items. Yet Natalie, his wife, was someone he forgot to give a card to.

Easton thought for a moment and said, “Xavier, check where Jennifer has been spending her money all these years. Has there been any large wire transfers? 500 million dollars is enough to start a big company.”

Xavier was excited. “Mr. Garcia, you’re finally suspecting this. I’ll look into it right away.”

Watching the smile on Xavier’s face, Easton suddenly understood a few words. He, Easton, was an idiot.

In the Simpson residence, Jennifer, seeing the news about Zach and the others, furiously smashed many things in the room.

She thought, “They have been kept under wraps so well before, how did things go wrong this time? Could it be that Natalie also knew about her connection with Zach and the others?”

Wendy didn’t go to the office today. When she heard the sound of things being smashed upstairs, a hint of delight flashed in her eyes.

She thought, ‘Go ahead, smash away. Within six months, that easy life will be gone!’

And Jason came home angrily, seeing his mom there was like seeing a beacon of hope. “Mom, you have to help me!”

Wendy frowned and asked, “What’s wrong? What’s got you so worked up?”
