Chapter 313: Signing Mia
After watching Olivia beat Jason, a huge guy, into a bloody mess, Mia realized she could never turn down Olivia, no matter what. Almost under pressure, Mia followed Olivia to the school cafรฉ. Mia never thought sheโd end up sitting at a cafรฉ with Olivia, drinking coffee.
While the Davis familyโs downfall was their own fault, it all began because of Olivia. Though Mia didnโt hate her, there was still some awkwardness between them.
โSoโฆ whatโs going on?โ Mia asked carefully. She was afraid Olivia was here to settle an old score. โI donโt fight back. I really donโt!โ
Olivia watched Mia, who was obviously nervous. โHowโs everything at home?โ
Mia stayed silent. โYou sure know how to make conversation!โ
โThe companyโs gone under; my mom took the last of the money after divorcing my dad, and now Iโm living with him. Heโs been working hard to save the business but has been burning outโฆ soโฆ is that good or bad?โ
It wasnโt until Mia hit rock bottom that she understood a lot of things. She had always thought her mother loved both her and her father, but after the Davis familyโs collapse, her mother ran off with another man, taking the last of their wealth with her. Thatโs when Mia found out her mother had been seeing someone else for a long time.
Olivia leaned on her hand, quietly observing Mia, who remained composed despite everything. โAre you struggling for money?โ
Mia let out a bitter chuckle. โDadโs heart isnโt doing well, and he needs surgery.โ
Olivia asked, โHow much is the surgery?โ
Mia answered, โ112,000 dollars.โ
What used to be the cost of a fancy dress now felt impossible for Mia to manage. She couldnโt even afford 1,120 dollars, let alone 112,000.
Without another word, Olivia pulled out a check for 112,000 dollars and handed it to Mia. Mia stared at the check in disbelief before looking up at Olivia.
Olivia smiled. โI just started my own agency, and Iโm looking to sign artists. If you agree, these 112,000 dollars will be your signing fee.โ
Mia couldnโt believe it. After the bankruptcy, Mia tried reaching out to many people. The girls she had once been closest to turned away as soon as they found out about her familyโs situation.
But Mia never expected that the one offering her a lifesaving check would be Olivia, the very person she had once bullied.
โYouโฆ really want to sign me?โ
Olivia nodded.
Mia was overwhelmed. โButโฆ Iโve never acted before.โ
โYouโre from the drama department, right? Everyone starts somewhere. Plusโฆ donโt you want to restore your familyโs pride? Donโt you want to get revenge on Jason and make him regret what he did?โ Olivia said.
Olivia wasnโt here to be a philanthropist. In Miaโs past life, the Davis family didnโt stay wealthy for long. Her mother had an affair, and after Mia graduated, her mother and her lover drained the familyโs wealth. Miaโs father was so devastated that he died shortly after. In this life, Mr. Liam from the Wilson family had just expedited the inevitable. Before the Davis familyโs collapse in her past life, Mia had used the familyโs influence to land a role in a film after graduation. Although Mia was pampered, her acting was actually quite impressive. If her mother hadnโt betrayed the family, Mia could have risen to fame in the entertainment world, using both her familyโs status and her talent.
