Chapter 27: Darling, Remember to Pay the Bill
Under Michaelโs watchful gaze, Alexander dialed a number he had never called before. The connection was swift. This was the first time Alexander had ever called Olivia, but he didn't receive the expected response. He thought she would be thrilled.
Instead, he was met with a calm, slightly puzzled voice.
โAlexander? Why are you calling me?โ
Her casual tone even carried a hint of impatience.
Alexander frowned slightly and asked, โDo you still have the black card that Grandpa gave you?โ
โNo, I donโt have it,โ Olivia replied.
Alexander understood immediately. She had lost it.
Just as he was about to hang up, Oliviaโs voice came through again.
โOh, right. I used the card today at Carlos Harmonies. It should be with Michael.โ
Alexander was speechless.
โYou really bought a piano at Carlos Harmonies?โ he asked.
โYeah,โ Olivia answered casually.
Thinking about the few million she had just spent, Olivia added with a smile in her voice, โDarling, remember to pay the bill for me.โ
Alexander was stunned. What did she just call him? Darling! In the six months theyโd been married, Olivia had always been nervous around him, addressing him as โMr. Wilsonโ just like everyone else, never daring to be informal. But today, not only did she boldly use the black card, but she also casually called him โDarlingโ and even asked him to pay for her?
This was a stark contrast to the cautious woman he knew. For a moment, Alexander didnโt know how to respond. It was as if she had completely changed into a different person.
Before he could say anything, Olivia continued on the other end of the line:
โYou have Michaelโs contact info, right? I forgot to get the black card back. Make sure you retrieve it for me.โ
โAnd by the way, Iโm currently at the Velvet Vogue couture store in Starlight Mall. Darling, have Henry come over to pay the bill for me, okay?โ
Olivia tossed out another casual โDarlingโ without a hint of hesitation or concern, completely unaware that with each mention of the term, Alexanderโs expression grew darker and more difficult to read.
Even after Olivia hung up, Alexander didnโt say a word. Michael, noticing the strange look on Alexanderโs face, hesitated. โUhโฆโ
โWrite him a check,โ Alexander finally said, his voice cold as ice.
Henry looked at Alexander in surprise. Could Olivia really have bought that piano?
Following Alexanderโs orders, Henry quickly wrote a check and handed it to Michael. Michael accepted the check with a wide grin. โThanks for your business. If you ever need anything like this again, be sure to come to me. If Iโd known your wife was into music, I wouldโve stocked up on some better items.โ
โGet out,โ Alexanderโs temples throbbed slightly. What on earth was that woman up to now?
Michael knew when to take his leave, sensing that Alexanderโs little wife might not be as timid and submissive as the rumors suggested. Next time, heโd have to gather everyone to see her in person.
After Michael left, Henry nervously glanced at Alexander.
โHead over to Starlight Mallโs Velvet Vogue,โ Alexander ordered coldly.
โHuh?โ Henry was confused. Velvet Vogue was a high-end couture store. Why would Mr. Wilson send him there?
But Henry didnโt dare ask questions. He obediently followed Alexanderโs instructions and drove to Velvet Vogue. It wasnโt until Henry saw Olivia sitting in the store that he understood why he had been sent.
โYouโre here? Hurry up and pay the bill,โ Olivia said lazily, lounging in a chair.
Henry was left speechless.
