Chapter 91: He Looked Happy

โ€œAs long as you live your own life and remember the skills I passed on, our bond wonโ€™t ever break.โ€

โ€œYeahโ€ฆ But now that youโ€™re back, Master, I donโ€™t have to just remember. I can feel you right here, on the other side of this chat box, with me.โ€

Tilda felt a surge of emotions.

She had walked away from the net in her previous life and never contacted this student again.

But in this reborn life, she had returned, and with her return came pieces of herself she thought were gone foreverโ€”friendships, connections, the light sheโ€™d once lost.

She and DJ talked for half an hour.

โ€œSorry, Master. Iโ€™ve got to board a plane back to Cetherland. Something urgent came up at home.โ€

โ€œGo on then. Be safe. Weโ€™ll have plenty of time to talk laterโ€ฆ Yes, Master.โ€

Later.

Thereโ€™ll be plenty of chances later.

For DJ, that was enough.

His Master was back.

And this time, she wasnโ€™t leaving.

Yvoria, a private airstrip.

Dominicโ€™s assistant, Matthew Carter, stood at his side. Impeccable suit, gold-rimmed glasses, hair slicked back to perfection. Every inch of him screamed discipline and efficiency. He spoke politely, โ€œMr. Jenson, the plane is ready.โ€

โ€œI know.โ€

Dominic shut his phone, rose, and strode toward the jet with long, measured steps.

Matthew froze.

What he caught out of the corner of his eyeโ€ฆ.

Is it just a trick of the light?

Dominic had just finalized negotiations in Lucien, securing a deal worth billions.

After hearing what happened back home, his face had been blank, his entire body radiating a cold, dangerous air.

No one dared get close, afraid of provoking the lion and being ripped apart.

Butโ€ฆ

While waiting for the plane, Dominic had been holding his phone, chatting with someone.

And he lookedโ€ฆ happy.

Just nowโ€ฆ he seemed to have smiled.

Matthew couldnโ€™t remember the last time heโ€™d seen Dominic smile like that in public, with no family around.

It was like he had recovered a treasure he thought heโ€™d lost forever.

That night, Tilda slept peacefully.

The Jenson family, on the other hand, didnโ€™t sleep at all.

At breakfast, the air was heavy and suffocating.

Russell, Blair, and Howard all had dark circles under their eyes.

Kyla and Wade didnโ€™t look any better.

Everyone knew tomorrow was the day of the trial.

The Jensons hadnโ€™t even managed to find a decent lawyer.

Andy had driven them all away.

Their attempt to bribe him had backfired, leaving them humiliated, forced to apologize to Tilda, and toyed with in her palm.

Never had they been so disgraced.

And they couldnโ€™t think of a single way to strike back.

Kyla bit into her toast, but when she saw no one speaking, her lip trembled. Her nose stung, and tears rolled down her cheeks like broken pearls, spilling uncontrollably.

No matter how hard she tried to hold it back, her shoulders shook.

โ€œKyla, whatโ€™s wrong?โ€

Howard, sitting closest, was the first to notice.

Every gaze in the room snapped to her.

โ€œIโ€™m sorry, Howard, Dad, Mom, Wadeโ€ฆ this is all my fault.

โ€œIf I had never come into the Jenson family, Tilda wouldnโ€™t have hated me, and none of this would have happened.

โ€œIf I just leftโ€”or disappearedโ€”it would all be better. I feel so guilty, it hurts so much, because youโ€™ve given me 18 years of love, warmth, and comfort.

โ€œBut my existence has only brought trouble to this family, made Dad and Mom suffer like thisโ€ฆโ€

Her voice trailed off.

She covered her face, gritted her teeth, and sobbed silently.

Her whole body radiated grief, guilt, and self-blame.

Howardโ€™s heart nearly broke.

He quickly patted her head, trying to calm her.

โ€œKyla, donโ€™t think like that! None of this is your fault! Itโ€™s all Tildaโ€™s fault!

โ€œIf she werenโ€™t so cruel, if she could accept you as a sister, none of this would have happened.

โ€œYou donโ€™t need to take on even a shred of responsibility for this!โ€

Russell spoke then, too, โ€œYes, Kyla. This whole thing started because of me. If anyone is to blame, itโ€™s me. You donโ€™t need to carry this.โ€

Kyla jerked her head up like a startled rabbit, shaking it wildly. โ€œDad, please donโ€™t say that. If you say thatโ€ฆ Iโ€™ll only feel even more guilty.โ€

โ€œEnough. Weโ€™re a family. Whatโ€™s done is done. Stop pushing the blame around. What matters now is finding a solution.โ€

Blair finally spoke, her voice calm, her eyes soft with pity as she looked at Kyla.

She turned to Wade.

โ€œItโ€™s almost time for school. Take Kyla and go.

โ€œLeave this matter to your father and me. Weโ€™ll find a way to handle it.โ€

โ€œMomโ€ฆโ€
