Chapter 69: They Can't Understand Her
Andy quickly caught on to what happened. "Good thing he had insurance. With a case this big, the payout should be decent. Both of them only got minor injuriesโnothing serious. Their lives wonโt be ruined."
"โฆLetโs go.โ
Tilda got into the car. She couldnโt stop thinking about the fatherโs and daughterโs tears earlier. Her mind was a mess. Even at rock bottom, some people never gave up on their kids. They protected them with everything they had.
Even with all their wealth, some people could just sit back and watch their daughterโgone for 19 yearsโbe hurt and overlooked by her family. Tilda would rather have been born into a normal family. Anything would be better than Jenson Villaโit was basically a hellhole. She left with Andy, unaware that someone had filmed her rescuing that father and daughter right before the car blew up. The video got posted on TikTok. It went viral immediately. Likes, comments, and shares shot through the roof. [Respect From Everyone! The Most Beautiful Heroine!]
Wade dragged Clive to Nightingale Bar for a drink. Watching Wade drink like he was trying to kill himself, Clive finally snapped and grabbed the bottle. "Wade, stop! If you keep this up, youโll ruin yourself. Youโre supposed to be on medical leave. What the hell are you doing?"
Wade just gave him a blank stare, finished his glass, and hit the call button. โAnother bottle.โ
โYes, sir-โ
โNo! Donโt bring it!โ Clive slammed his hand on the table. The staff knew Clive and Wade were regulars, and Clive was the bossโs brother, so they didnโt argue and hung up.
"Whatโs your problem, Clive? Iโm spending money at your bar, and youโre stopping me? Is that your idea of business?"
"If you werenโt my friend, I wouldnโt care if you drank yourself to death or got played, as long as the tab was paid,โ Clive snapped. Still annoyed, he downed his drink.
Wade stayed quiet. His handsome face was flushed from the alcohol, but his eyes burned with anger he couldnโt hide.
Clive rolled his eyes. โWant to pick a fight? All the girls ran off today. You scared them away.
โYou called me out to drink so you could vent, right? Guess Iโm unlucky to have had you as a friend since we were kids. Spill itโwhat happened?โ
Wade slumped on the couch, rubbed his forehead, and finally said, "Tilda is planning to take my dad to court.โ
โWaitโwhat?!โ Clive thought he was dreaming.
"You heard me. She even hired top lawyer Andyโthe courtroom magician, the undefeated prodigy. My parents are freaking out, running around all day because of this. My dad and Howard even went to Orica University to mess with Tilda.
"Andโฆthey misunderstood her again. My mom rushed to the airport to stop Andy, hoping for a miracle. I have no clue how that went. I tried to comfort Kyla. But honestly, I donโt even know how to face her. I just dumped her on Howard and ran.โ
As Wade spoke, he wasnโt even sure how he felt anymore. Since Tilda got her DNA tested and returned to the Jensons, sheโd been hit with cold shoulders, double standards, endless comparisons, and constant misunderstandings. It had become normal for her. Maybe no one else had experienced that.
Everyone else in Jenson Villa was happy, privileged, and respected. They never had to worry about meals or clothes, got top-notch schooling, mingled with the elite, and were always dressed to the nines. They experienced things ordinary people couldnโt even imagine, living in luxury and honor. Their starting line was like the finish line for regular folks.
But the Jensons werenโt like other rich families. They didnโt fight over money or shares, bribe, threaten, or turn on each other. They were close, sticking together against outsiders. The brothers had wildly different personalities, and outsiders might call them weird.
Still, when it came to protecting and valuing their family, the Jensons were probably the most devoted among all the great families. Thanks to their family environment and their upbringing, Russell and Blair set a strong example. So, they couldnโt understand what Tilda was going through. If only they could see things from her point of view.
After being missing for all those years, she finally thought her lonely, tough life was over. She longed for a warm, loving family like everyone else had. But after she returned to Jenson Villa, they crushed her hopes again and again, until there was nothing left.
