Chapter 262 The Worst Performance
Kyla grew more and more flustered. She forgot her lines completely. The story turned into a mess. She couldn't recall a single line. The performance, later called "the worst orientation party performance in Orica University's history," finally came to an end.
Kyla didnโt even know how she forced herself to finish the performance. When she bowed, her face burned hot with shame. Countless eyes were on her.
Their stares were filled with mockery, scorn, and even smugness. She could even hear the whispers from the audience.
"See? She's a fake heiress. People bragged so much about her, saying her rehearsal was amazing. Look at her failure now."
"I think she was just nervous. I saw Kyla's rehearsal. Honestly, she was the best in her group."
"Oh, come on. Don't cover for her. A fail is still a fail. This is so funny."
"She thinks she can beat Tilda, huh? Fake is fake, sheโll never replace the real one!"
"Good thing it was only a short skit, just ten minutes. If she had to perform 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', three hours straight, Kyla would've turned into a complete joke."
"Hahaha, you're terrible! But I love it!"
"Lucky this orientation party was just for the freshmen and the university officials. If someone from the Jensons had come to watch her performance, it would've been so embarrassing!"
Kyla felt like her spirit had been torn apart. She dragged herself backstage, completely broken. Then, she collapsed in front of her vanity table. Her shoulders trembled nonstop. Tears began to pour down.
Itโs over. Everything is overโฆ. I worked so hard, planned so much, and wanted this to be my big moment, the perfect start for my debut in the entertainment industry. But itโs all gone! Completely ruined!
The teammates who had performed with Kyla all looked upset. None of them even tried to cheer her up. Her performance had been a disaster, like something straight out of a nightmare. Even though the rest remembered their lines and managed to cover for Kyla, her awful performance as the main role dragged them all down, making the entire group a joke!
They had told her not to choose such a difficult musical, but Kyla didnโt listen. Sure, she nailed it in rehearsal. She really was great then. But in the real performance, she failed! Now, everyone was angry with her. Who could possibly comfort her now?
Not far away, Wade stood watching Kyla. For a moment, he wasnโt sure if he should go and console her. In the end, he just walked away. With a performance like that, nothing anyone said could make her feel better.
But it was strange. Wade had actually seen Kyla practice before. She had been outstanding then. When she was little, she loved acting, so Blair had hired the best teacher to teach her. Even the teacher praised her talent, saying Kyla would surely become a top actress one day. Just like her second brother, Darell Jenson, who had won the Best Actor!
Could it be that Tilda was the reason? Wade couldnโt think of any other reason.
โOh my gosh, Tilda! Kyla totally messed up! Hahaha!โ
โLooks like payback finally caught her. Sheโs done so many mean things, itโs like God had to punish her! Hahaha!โ
Una was thrilled, enjoying every second of Kylaโs downfall. She had been upset earlier when Kyla was doing great. She even thought about pulling Tilda out of there. She didnโt want to watch that fake bitch steal the spotlight. But thenโฆ What a twist! Kyla messed up her performance! And not just a little. This was the biggest flop ever! All around them, people were making rude comments. Even the university officials looked embarrassed. For Una, it was the best thing ever!
โAhemโฆ Una, I think youโve got some kind of supernatural gift. Everything you say comes true. Maybe you should become a fortune teller.โ Even Tilda joked about it.
It really did feel like Unaโs curse on Kyla had worked. It even changed the whole storyline from her previous life.
Kylaโs shining moment turned into her most humiliating fail ever. Maybe Una really did have some supernatural talent.
โOh, please, Tilda! Iโm not some evil fortune teller whose bad predictions always work! Itโs the modern day. We should believe in science! Superstition is oldโfashioned!โ Una had no idea how scary-good she was at this.
Tilda didnโt bring it up again. Today was meant to be Kylaโs day of disaster. From now on, everyone on campus would laugh at her and spread stories. In the end, it strangely turned out just the way Tilda had hoped.
But Kyla wasnโt the type to break easily. Most people would be way too embarrassed to even come back to campus after a mess like that. But with Kylaโs personality, she would endure it all. She would force a smile, act sweet and innocent, even if it hurt deep inside. And she pulled it off well. Tilda almost admired Kylaโs endurance. She truly could endure anything. She was tough as nails.
