Chapter 17: Make a Good Price
Right now, Una just wanted to grab Tildaโs hand and run far away, crying all the way if she had to. Protecting her best friend was all that mattered. She couldnโt stand seeing Tilda get hurt by her own family again.
โHoward, please stop. Tildaโs already in such a bad placeโฆ If sheโs here, sheโs probably working part-time at the Porsche dealership.โ
โTilda, if life feels unbearable, you should just apologize and make up with Mom and Dad."
"Youโre the real Jenson daughter. Once you apologize, theyโll definitely accept you. Then Iโll leave the Jensons forever and never come between your family again!โ
Of course, Kyla wouldnโt waste this chance. She kept acting, pretending like she was ready to take all the hardship herself. Every now and then, sheโd let a few tears fall, sniffling and looking like the poor victim, which made Howardโs heart ache for her.
โDonโt talk like that, Kyla. Youโre the only true Jenson heiress! Iโll never accept anyone else!"
"Tilda, since you want to cut ties, then get lost. And if you ever regret it and want back in, Iโll be the first to slam the door!โ Howard instantly pulled Kyla close, comforting her gently. Then he shot Tilda a sharp glare.
โTilda, you still have Jenson bloodโdonโt you have any self-respect?"
"Everyone knows youโre the real Jenson daughter now. If people see you working at a dealership, itโs the Jensons whoโll look bad!โ Kyla covered his mouth, her eyes red as she shook her head. โHoward, stop. Tildaโs already miserable enoughโฆโ
Tilda felt sick. These are the people I once tore my heart out for? They are scum. This is a nightmare Iโll never forget. I canโt believe how stupid I was.
โWhere are my keys and the car?โ
โUhโฆ Ms. Tilda, theyโre right here.โ The dealership staff, who had been keeping their distance, quickly stepped forward to hand her the keys.
โMs. Tilda, your Porsche Cayenne is parked outside. Please follow me.โ They just wanted this curse to leave already.
From the yelling, it was clear this was the Jensonsโ family drama. No one dared step in, no matter how brave. Besides, theyโd overheard something huge. Wasnโt Tilda just on the trending searches yesterday as the real Jenson heiress? And now sheโs cutting ties? Whatโs going on? And how did she get the money to buy that car?
Kyla was stunned. What?! Tilda isnโt an employee here? And she bought a Porsche Cayenne?!
โTilda, where did you get the money? Donโt tell me it came from the familyโโ She covered her mouth like sheโd slipped up, but it was already too late. Her meaning was clear to everyone.
Howardโs eyes narrowed, his voice sharp and dangerous. โYou stole from the family!โ He said it like it was factโas if heโd seen it happen himself. He didnโt even hesitate to label her a thief.
The crowd gasped. The staff looked stunned too. If this really is stolen money, and the Jensons refuse to pay, then everything here will be pointless.
โTilda didnโt steal a single cent! She earned it herself!โ Unaโs voice shook with anger. For the first time ever, she truly hated the Jensons.
โEarned it herself? Sheโs a studentโdo you hear how ridiculous that sounds?โ From what Howard knew, Tilda was just a sophomore at Orica University. A Porsche Cayenne costs about 150 thousand dollars. How could a normal student come up with that kind of money? Unless sheโs selling herself. He didnโt say it out loud. Tilda would never stoop that low. And if she had, the Jensons wouldโve known by now. We wouldโve thrown her out and refused to claim her.
โTilda, is that rumor from college true, that you hung out with shady people at bars late at night? Why would you do that?โ Howard didnโt ask thisโKyla did. Her tone was full of fake concern, like she was scared Tilda had gone down the wrong path. Her voice came out rough and accusing.
The dealership staff wanted to run away right then. What kind of drama is this? The real Jenson daughter, finally found after all these years, and now theyโre hinting she sold her body for money? But with her looks, she can fetch a high price.
